We discuss the association between the candidate magnetar CXOU j171405.7-381031 and the supernova remnant CTB *** recent detection of the period derivative of the object allowed an estimation of a young characteristic age of only ～ *** value is too small to be compatible even with the minimum radius of the remnant being ≥ 10 pc,the value corresponding to the lower limit of the estimated distance of 10.2 ± 3.5 kpc,unless the true distance happens to be even smaller than the lower *** argue that a consistent scenario for the remnant＇s origin,in which the latter is powered by the energy injected by a young magnetar,is indeed more accurate to explain the young age,and demonstrates its non-standard（***-driven） nature.

Neuroplasticity enables teleosts to promote or downregulate the growth of their brains *** compensate for the effects of predation pressure,teleosts may alter their brain morphology and behavioral responses to mitigate its impact on individual ***-predation environ-ments often promote specific patterns of brain growth and produce bolder and more proactive *** to the expense of maintaining neural tissue,relative size indicates the regions most relied *** northern redbelly dace Chrosomus eos,as little as 2 weeks of elevated predation pressure,resulted in increased investment in their olfactory bulbs and optic tecta,while the imposition of captivity produced smaller,less symmetric *** together,these results suggest that an individual could potentially become better able to detect a threat,and simultaneously less inclined to react to it,making the impact of either change in isolation is difficult to ***,we compared interindividual variation in gross brain morphology,risk-taking tactics in a novel arena(shy-bold personality),and responding to olfactory cues(proactive/reac-tive stress-coping style).We hypothesized that olfactory investment would positively correlate with response intensity to predator cue concen-tration and respond across a wider range of cue concentrations,while hypothalamus size would correlate with shyness and *** to heightened risk produced more bold/proactive individuals,with larger olfactory bulbs and smaller ***,the direction of the correlation between hypothalamus size and behavior varied by treatment,and olfactory investment only corresponded with response intensity amongst proactive *** findings illustrate the potential pitfalls of relating gross brain morphology to complex behavior and suggest that stress-coping style is a relevant consideration in future studies.

A two-dimensional cellular automaton (CA) model has been developed for thedescription of the normal grain coarsening process. The probabilistic CA method incorporatingMoore's definition of the neighbourhood is used to simulate the normal grain coarsening process witha new transition rule. The model simulates the grain coarsening process in as much detail that ispossible, from the point of initial nucleation to subsequent coarsening with computational *** unique result is that the grain coarsening speed can be controlled by the specific method, thisresult is vital to model the grain coarsening quantitatively. In order to make this model valid,experimental work has been done to provide solid evidence for this model. Comparison of themodelling result and the experimental result has been carried out.

The 2-dimensional cellular automata (CA) simulation technique has been utilized to investigate the abnormal grain coarsening. The growth of abnormal grains is modelled under this assumption that different grains have different boundary energies and boundary mobilities. As temperature increases, some grains may first get rid of the particle pinning effect. Thus a high probability is obtained for atoms to jump over the boundary, so that they can consume other primary retained grains quickly. From the simulation, the characteristics of the abnormal grain coarsening under different conditions are demonstrated successfully. An experiment has also been carried out to reflect the abnormal grain coarsening on the microalloy steel. Simulation results are quite close to the experimental evidence.

Thermodynamic concepts required for the thermodynamic calculation of the potentials of electrodes for high temperature applications are briefly reviewed. A thermodynamic approach to the calculation of half cell potentials and the standard chemical potential of an electron at high temperatures which are related to the Standard Hydrogen electrode(SHe) is discussed. As examples, an external Ag/AgCl reference electrode and a YSZ(Ag|O_2) pH sensor for high temperature applications are analyzed by using the thermodynamic approach to derive a high temperature pH measurement equation. The two electrodes are employed to measure high temperature pH and the measured pH was compared with the calculated pH by using a solution chemistry method. Concepts and principles for electrode kinetics are also briefly introduced and a modification to the Tafel equations is suggested.

China＇s 2007 Open Government Information Regulations is widely considered as a milestone in the country＇s information policy history and is praised as a ＂sunshine program＂. The environmental Information Disclosure Decree was the first to operationalize these general regulations into a sectorai information disclosure system on environment. This study assessed the implementation of the environmental information disclosure system about six months after the Decree took effect on May 1, 2008. Through reviewing the websites of all 31 provincial environmental Protection Bureaus and the Ministry of environmental Protection, conducting an experiment with actual information disclosure request, and through interviews with all provincial environmental Protection Bureaus, this article concluded that the implementation of the environmental information disclosure system still fails short. Future improvements should focus on further publicity of the regulations and decree to enhance public participation, the establishment of an independent evaluation and supervision system for information disclosure, the exchange of experiences and best practices among provincial environmental Protection Bureaus, and on strengthening the legal status of environmental information disclosure.

Biodegradable metals offer a promising means to ameliorate many of the long-term risks associated with vascular devices made of conventional biostable stent *** numerous biodegradable metal alloys have been developed and characterized in animal models,knowledge of their blood reactivity and thrombogenicity remains *** hemocompatibility is particularly valuable because current generation drug-eluting stents pose a significant long-term thrombosis *** this study,four pure metals,widely used as degradable base materials(Fe,Zn,Mg,and Mo),and three alloys commonly used in cardiovascular devices[NiTi,CoCr,and stainless steel(SS)]were *** work examined how each of these metals activate platelets,coagulation factors,and inflammation using in vitro hemocompatibility assays and a clinically relevant ex vivo non-human primate arteriovenous shunt *** found that while all metals promoted a downstream activation of platelets and coagulation in flowing whole blood,platelet and fibrin attachment to Mg was markedly ***,Fe and Mo trended toward higher platelet attachment and contact pathway ***,the results suggest that Mg may delay clot initiation,but not eliminate clot formation,indicating the importance of understanding thrombosis in Mg alloys that are currently being developed for clinical use as biodegradable stents.

We discuss the role of atomic coordination in dictating the vibrational characteristics and thermal conductivity in amorphous *** systematic atomistic simulations on amorphous carbon structures at varying mass densities show the significant role played by the ratio of sp2 to sp3 hybridized bonds in dictating the contributions from propagating(phonon-like)and non-propagating vibrational modes and their influence on the overall thermal conductivities of the ***,our results show that as the concentration of sp3-bonded carbon atoms increases,the thermal conductivity can be increased by four fold,which is attributed to enhanced contributions from propagating modes in these amorphous *** results shed more light into the role of atomic coordination on dictating heat transfer mechanisms in amorphous materials,and also provide a deeper understanding of the ability to tune the thermal conductivity of amorphous carbon structures through the control of the local atomic coordination.

Constrained long-term production scheduling problem(CLTPSP) of open pit mines has been extensively studied in the past few decades due to its wide application in mining projects and the computational challenges it poses become an NP-hard *** problem has major practical significance because the effectiveness of the schedules obtained has strong economical impact for any mining *** of the rapid theoretical and technical advances in this field,heuristics is still the only viable approach for large scale industrial *** work presents an approach combining genetic algorithms(GAs) and Lagrangian relaxation(LR) to optimally determine the CLTPSP of open pit *** are stochastic,parallel search algorithms based on the natural selection and the process of *** method is known for handling large-scale separable problems; however,the convergence to the optimal solution can be *** proposed Lagrangian relaxation and genetic algorithms(LR-GAs) combines genetic algorithms into Lagrangian relaxation method to update the Lagrangian *** approach leads to improve the performance of Lagrangian relaxation method in solving *** results demonstrate that the LR method using GAs to improve its performance speeding up the ***,highly near-optimal solution to the CLTPSP can be achieved by the LR-GAs.
