Traumatic brain injury(TBI) impacts 69 million individuals globally each year and is a leading cause of death and disability(Dewan et al.,2019).The majority of moderate-to-severe TBI survivors endure long-lasting disturbances in motor,cognitive,and affect that negatively impacts their life.Although a plethora of research on pharmacological interventions for TBI has been conducted,none has translated to the clinic,thus advocating for the evaluation of nonpharmacological therapeutic approaches that may increase translational success.

With the integration of ultrafast reflectivity and polarimetry probes,we observed carrier relaxation and spin dynamics induced by ultrafast laser excitation of Ni(111)single crystals.The carrier relaxation time within the linear excitation range reveals that electron-phonon coupling and dissipation of photon energy into the bulk of the crystal take tens of picoseconds.On the other hand,the observed spin dynamics indicate a longer time of about 120 ps.To further understand how the lattice degree of freedom is coupled with these dynamics may require the integration of an ultrafast diffraction probe.

In this study,green zinc oxide(ZnO)/polypyrrole(Ppy)/cellulose acetate(CA)film has been synthesized via solvent casting.This film was used as supporting material for glucose oxidase(GOx)to sensitize a glucose biosensor.ZnO nanoparticles have been prepared via the green route using olive leaves extract as a reductant.ZnO/Ppy nanocomposite has been synthesized by a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole(Py)monomer using ferric chloride(FeCl3)as an oxidizing agent.The produced materials and the composite films were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SeM),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Glucose oxidase was successfully immobilized on the surface of the prepared film and then ZnO/Ppy/CA/GOx composite was sputtered with platinum electrode for the current determination at different initial concentrations of glucose.Current measurements proved the suitability and the high sensitivity of the constructed biosensor for the detection of glucose levels in different samples.The performance of the prepared biosensor has been assessed by measuring and comparing glucose concentrations up to 800 ppm.The results affirmed the reliability of the developed biosensor towards real samples which suggests the wide-scale application of the proposed biosensor.

A titrant for the SARS-CoV-2 main protease(M^(pro))was developed that enables,for the first time,the exact determination of the concentration of the enzymatically active M^(pro) by active-site titration.The covalent binding mode of the tetrapeptidic titrant was elucidated by the determination of the crystal structure of the enzyme–titrant complex.Four fluorogenic substrates of M^(pro),including a prototypical,internally quenched Dabcyl-eDANS peptide,were compared in terms of solubility under typical assay conditions.By exploiting the new titrant,key kinetic parameters for the M^(pro)-catalyzed cleavage of these substrates were determined.

Diet composition and its ecological drivers are rarely investigated in coexisting closely related species.We used a molecular approach to characterize the seasonal variation in diet composition in four spiny lizard species inhabiting a mountainous ecosystem.DNA metabarcoding revealed that the lizards Sceloporus aeneus,S.bicanthalis,S.grammicus,and S.spinosus mostly consumed arthropods of the orders hemiptera,Araneae,hymenoptera,and Coleoptera.The terrestrial lizards S.aeneus and S.bicanthalis mostly predated ants and spiders,whereas the arboreal–saxicolous S.grammicus and saxicolous S.spinosus largely consumed grasshoppers and leafhoppers.The taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity of the prey was higher during the dry season than the rainy season,likely because reduced prey availability in the dry season forced lizards to diversify their diets to meet their nutritional demands.Dietary and phylogenetic composition varied seasonally depending on the species,but only dietary composition varied with altitude.Seasonal dietary turnover was greater in S.spinosus than in S.bicanthalis,suggesting site-specific seasonal variability in prey availability;no other differences among species were observed.S.bicanthalis,which lives at the highest altitude in our study site,displayed interseasonal variation in diet breadth.Dietary differences were correlated with the species’feeding strategies and elevational distribution,which likely contributed to the coexistence of these lizard species in the studied geographic area and beyond.

BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a liver condition that is prevalent worldwide and associated with significant health risks and economic burdens.As it has been linked to insulin resistance(IR),this study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis and visually represent the scientific literature on IR and NAFLD.AIM To map the research landscape to underscore critical areas of focus,influential studies,and future directions of NAFLD and IR.MeThODS This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the literature on IR and NAFLD indexed in the SciVerse Scopus database from 1999 to 2022.The search strategy used terms from the literature and medical subject headings,focusing on terms related to IR and NAFLD.VOSviewer software was used to visualize research trends,collaborations,and key thematic areas.The analysis examined publication type,annual research output,contributing countries and institutions,funding agencies,journal impact factors,citation patterns,and highly cited references.ReSULTS This analysis identified 23124 documents on NAFLD,revealing a significant increase in the number of publications between 1999 and 2022.The search retrieved 715 papers on IR and NAFLD,including 573(80.14%)articles and 88(12.31%)reviews.The most productive countries were China(n=134;18.74%),the United States(n=122;17.06%),Italy(n=97;13.57%),and Japan(n=41;5.73%).The leading institutions included the Universitàdegli Studi di Torino,Italy(n=29;4.06%),and the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche,Italy(n=19;2.66%).The top funding agencies were the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in the United States(n=48;6.71%),and the National Natural Science Foundation of China(n=37;5.17%).The most active journals in this field were hepatology(27 publications),the Journal of hepatology(17 publications),and the Journal of Clinical endocrinology and Metabolism(13 publications).The main research hotspots were“therapeutic approaches for IR and NAFLD”and“inflammatory and high-fat diet impacts on NAFLD”.CONCLUS

This article presents an event-triggered h_(∞) consensus control scheme using reinforcement learning (RL) for nonlinear second-order multi-agent systems (MASs) with control constraints. First, considering control constraints, the constrained h_(∞) consensus problem is transformed into a multi-player zero-sum game with non-quadratic performance functions. Then, an event-triggered control method is presented to conserve communication resources and a new triggering condition is developed for each agent to make the triggering threshold independent of the disturbance attenuation level. To derive the optimal controller that can minimize the cost function in the case of worst disturbance, a constrained hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (hJB) equation is defined. Since it is difficult to solve analytically due to its strongly non-linearity, reinforcement learning (RL) is implemented to obtain the optimal controller. In specific, the optimal performance function and the worst-case disturbance are approximated by a time-triggered critic network;meanwhile, the optimal controller is approximated by event-triggered actor network. After that, Lyapunov analysis is utilized to prove the uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) stability of the system and that the network weight errors are UUB. Finally, a simulation example is utilized to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control strategy provided.
