Hunting for a viral proxy in bioaerosols of swine buildings using molecular detection and metagenomics

There are limited biosecurity measures directed at preventing airborne transmission of viruses in *** effectiveness of dust mitigation strategies such as oil sprinkling,to decrease risk of airborne virus transmission are *** and qPCR for common fecal viruses were used to hunt for a ubiquitous virus to serve as a proxy when evaluating the efficiency of mitigation strategies against airborne viral infectious *** particles were collected from swine buildings using high-volume air *** dNA and RNA were used to perform specific RT-qPCR and qPCR and analyzed by highthroughput *** astroviruses group 2 were common(from 102 to 105 genomic copies per cubic meter of air or gc/m^(3),93%positivity)while no norovirus genogroup II was recovered from air *** torque teno sus virus were detected by qPCR in low concentrations(from 101 to 102 gc/m^(3),47%positivity).Among the identified viral families by metagenomics analysis,Herelleviridae,Microviridae,Myoviridae,Podoviridae,and Siphoviridae were *** phage vB_AviM_AVP of Aerococcus was present in all air samples and a newly designed qPCR revealed between 101 and 105 gc/m^(3) among the samples taken for the present study(97%positivity)and banked samples from5-and 15-year old studies(89%positivity).According to the present study,both the porcine astrovirus group 2 and the phage vB_AviM_AVP of Aerococcus could be proxy for airborne viruses of swine buildings.

The Camborygma Ichnofacies in a high-resolution sequence-stratigraphic framework for the eocene palustrine-alluvial depositional interval of the Kutch Basin,India

The non-marine strata of the Ypresian Naredi Formation have been deposited and intermittently pedogenized after the culmination of the early eocene Climatic Optimum(eeCO). This continental interval comprises intercalation of laterite and palaeosol horizons developed by cyclic episodes of erosion, subaerial exposure, and deposition. The palaeopedological analyses investigate the morphological and micromorphological features evidencing repeated subaerial exposure and consequently moderate to well-developed palaeosol horizons. The topmost laterite bed records an intensely bioturbated ichnofabric(consisting of the root traces and the composite ichnotaxa of lungfish aestivation burrows, Macanopsis(possible arachnid burrows), and Skolithos. The pedogenized shale horizons contain the paucispecific Camborygma-root trace ichnofabric with highly localized patchy preservation of Camborygma symplokonomos, Camborygma eumekenomos, and rhizoturbation. The ichnospecies variation of Camborygma along with the ichnofabric analyses led to the demarcation of stratigraphic horizons and evaluation of the palaeowater-table fluctuations vis-a-vis the low-order allocyclicity, the ethology of producers, and the depositional setting. The paucispecific suite of trace fossils refers to the Camborygma Ichnofacies, where the substrate is intermittently pedogenized and lateritized with upward increasing thickness of beds and intensity of pedogenesis, lateritization, ichnodiversity, and ***, as an expression of high-frequency(interpreted as 5th-order) stratigraphic fluctuations within an early Falling Stage Systems Tract(FSST), a hot palaeoclimate with seasonality varying between humid inundated to dry desiccated conditions is interpreted with the palaeowater table being the base-level control. Modelling of daily Long-Term Urban Road Traffic Flow distribution: A Poisson Process Approach

Road traffic flow forecasting provides critical information for the operational management of road mobility challenges, and models are used to generate the forecast. This paper uses a random process to present a novel traffic modelling framework for aggregate traffic on urban roads. The main idea is that road traffic flow is random, even for the recurrent flow, such as rush hour traffic, which is predisposed to congestion. Therefore, the structure of the aggregate traffic flow model for urban roads should correlate well with the essential variables of the observed random dynamics of the traffic flow phenomena. The novelty of this paper is the developed framework, based on the Poisson process, the kinematics of urban road traffic flow, and the intermediate modelling approach, which were combined to formulate the model. empirical data from an urban road in Ghana was used to explore the model’s fidelity. The results show that the distribution from the model correlates well with that of the empirical traffic, providing a strong validation of the new framework and instilling confidence in its potential for significantly improved forecasts and, hence, a more hopeful outlook for real-world traffic management.

FeA-Sketch: flow entries assisted sketch for heavy flow detection in software-defined networking

Software-defined networking decouples the control plane from the data plane to enable centralized flow-level network management, while requiring periodically collecting traffic statistics from the data plane to enforce optimal management. As one of the most important traffic measurement tasks, heavy flow detection has received wide attention for its providing fundamental statistics in various practical applications. existing studies have proposed sketch-based detection solutions to address the mismatch problem between massive traffic and limited high-speed memory resources for measurement in the data plane. However,they overlook the potential of integrating the flow table, where each entry simultaneously enforces forwarding rules for specific flows and records flow statistics into the sketch design, leading to redundant measurement between the flow table and sketch and being unable to utilize their statistics to jointly enhance estimation accuracy. We propose flow entries assisted sketch(FeA-Sketch) in this work, which employs a differentiated flow recording strategy to record flow statistics jointly using the flow table and sketch for memory-efficient and computationally efficient heavy flow detection. We also propose an optimization-based estimation algorithm to accurately recover per-flow sizes for the flows that only have aggregated statistics due to the sharing of entries in the table(or counters in the sketch). We extend the FeA-Sketch to the distributed measurement setting with a hop-based collaborative measurement strategy, which reduces the measurement workload on switches across the network by avoiding redundant measurements. The experimental results on real Internet traces show that the accuracy of heavy flow detection is improved up to 1.95 times, and the bias of flow size estimation is improved up to 2.99 times, demonstrating that integrating flow entries can significantly improve the performance of heavy flow detection.

Individual differences in Stress Responsiveness of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis and Its Vasopressinergic Regulation in Old Monkeys

Stress adaptation is fundamental for health, and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) is one of its main mechanisms. Considerable data indicate that arginine vasopressin (AVP) related disturbances of stress adaptation can occur with aging. However, most studies of such kind have been performed on rodents, give contradictory results and fail to consider individual characteristics of the animals. The purpose of this study was to investigate individual HPA responsiveness to acute stress and its vasopressinergic regulation in old female rhesus monkeys that differ in their behavioral responses to stress. Animals with depression-like or anxiety-like behavior (dAB) responded with higher plasma levels of ACTH and AVP, lower levels of corticosteroids and higher cortisol/dHeAS molar ratios to restraint stress and to insulin-induced hypoglycemia compared with animals with healthy adaptive behavior. AVP and ACTH dynamics were closely correlated in most animals. AVP treatment produced differences in HPA responses similar to those produced by the stressors. The ACTH response to hypoglycemic stress in the dAB animal with highest HPA responsiveness was dramatically reduced by prior administration of a V1b receptor antagonist. These results suggest that the dysfunctions of HPA observed in old animals with dAB are caused by increased tone of the vasopressinergic system in regulation of HPA stress reactivity.
