Measurement of the high energyγ-rays from heavy ion reactions usingČerenkov detector

The energetic bremsstrahlung photons up to 100 MeV produced in heavy ion collisions can be used as a sensitive probe for short-range correlation in atomic nuclei. The energy of the γ-rays can be measured by collecting the Čerenkov light in the medium induced by the fast electrons generated in the Compton scattering or electromagnetic shower of the incident γray. Two types of detectors based on pure water and lead glass as sensitive materials were designed for this purpose. The γresponse and optical photon propagation in the detectors were simulated based on electromagnetic and optical processes in Geant4. The inherent energy resolutions of 0.022(4) + 0.51(2)∕e^(1/2)_(γ) for water and 0.0026(3) + 0.446(3)∕e^(1/2)_(γ) for lead glass were obtained. The geometry sizes of the lead glass and water were optimized to 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm and 60 cm × 60 cm ×120 cm, respectively, to detect high-energy γ-rays at 160 MeV. The Hough transform method was applied to reconstruct the direction of the incident γ-rays, providing the ability to experimentally distinguish the high-energy γ-rays produced in the reactions on the target from random background cosmic-ray muons.

The primary aim of this study was to analyze the evolving trends and key focal points in research on cellular metabolism of colorectal cancer(CRC).Relevant publications on cellular metabolism in CRC were sourced from the Science Citation Index expanded within the Web of Science Core Collection *** analysis and visualization were conducted using VOSviewer(version 1.6.18)software and CiteSpace 6.1.R6(64-bit)Basic.A comprehensive compilation of 4722 english-language publications,covering the period from January 1,1991 to December 31,2022,was carefully identified and included in the *** the authors,“Ogino,Shuji”contributed the most publications in this field,while“Giovannucci,e”garnered the highest number of *** journal“Cancer Research”ranked first in both publication volume and ***,“Shanghai Jiao Tong University”emerged as the top contributor in terms of published articles,while“Harvard University”led in citation *** country-based analysis,the United States held the top position in both publication output and citations,closely followed by *** increasing recognition of the significance of cellular metabolism in CRC underscores its potential for novel therapeutic approaches aimed at improving CRC management and prognosis.

Polymer microspheres(PMs),such as polyacrylamide,have been widely applied for enhanced oil recovery(eOR),yet with environmental ***,we report a microfluid displacement technology containing a bio-based eco-friendly material,i.e.,calcium alginate(CaAlg)microspheres for *** dominant mechanisms responsible for eOR over Ca Alg fluid have been verified,including the microscopic oil displacement efficacy augmented by regulating capillary force(determined by the joint action of interfacial tension and wettability between different phases)and macroscopic sweep volume increment through profile control and mobility ratio *** comprehensive effectiveness can be further impacted when the CaAlg microsphere is embellished ulteriorly by using appropriate amount of sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS).The core flooding and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)tests demonstrate that CaAlg-SDS microsphere can balance the interphase property regulation(wettability alteration and IFT reduction)and rheology properties,enabling simultaneous profile control and oil *** introduction of SDS will have a negative impact on rheological properties,which is not favored for *** results show that the involvement of 4-m M SDS will provide the best behavior,with an eOR rate of 34.38%.This cost-effective and environmentally-friendly bio-microspherebased microfluidic displacement technology is expected to achieve“green”oil recovery in future oilfield exploitation.

Achieving strength–ductility synergy in novel paramagnetic Fe-based medium-entropy alloys through deep cryogenic deformation

Cryogenic pre-deformation treatment has been widely used to effectively improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of steels and novel metals. However,the dislocation evolution and phase transformation induced by different degrees of deep cryogenic deformation are not yet fully elucidated. In this study, the effects of multiple cryogenic pre-treatments on the mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of a paramagnetic Fe63.3Mn14-Si9.1Cr9.8C3.8medium-entropy alloy（MeA） were investigated, leading to the discovery of a pretreated MeA that exhibits exceptional mechanical properties, including a fracture strength of 3.0 GPa, plastic strain of 26.1% and work-hardening index of 0.57. In addition, X-ray diffraction（XRD） and transmission electron microscopy（TeM）analyses revealed that multiple cryogenic pre-deformation treatments significantly increased the dislocation density of the MeA(from 9 × 1015to 4 × 1016m-2after three pretreatments), along with a transition in the dislocation type from predominantly edge dislocations to mixed dislocations（including screw-and edge-type dislocations）. Notably, this pretreated MeA retained its paramagnetic properties（μreven after fracture. Thermodynamic calculations showed that cryogenic pretreatment can significantly reduce the stacking fault energy of the MeA by a factor of approximately four(i.e., from 9.7 to2.6 m J·m-2), thereby activating the synergistic effects of transformation-induced plasticity, twinning-induced plasticity and dislocation strengthening mechanisms. These synergistic effects lead to simultaneous strength and ductility enhancement of the MeA.

针对路基段高铁行车安全分析常将地基土视作具有确定性参数的介质的问题,文中基于随机场理论,将地基土视为具有纵向一致性的三维介质,建立了盾构下穿既有高铁的数值模型,并基于数论选点方法模拟地基土横截面的参数随机性。为更进一步研究盾构下穿高速铁路对高铁行车安全性的影响,文中建立了31自由度的高铁列车模型,结合Fluent 3D流体仿真软件和动网格技术,获得了高速列车的气动荷载时程曲线。基于概率密度演化理论分析了高铁列车以300、350和400 km/h的速度交会时的脱轨系数及其概率密度演化信息。结果表明:随机场的存在使得车辆的轮重减载率和脱轨系数具有一定的概率分布范围;在气动荷载和隧道下穿引起的既有高铁线路基变形影响下,垂向轮轨力曲线有明显的波动情况;轮重减载率最大值出现在地表沉降最大值两侧的下降段;垂向气动荷载大于横向气动荷载;随着车速的增加,轮重减载率及脱轨系数的各上限均在逐渐增大,为保证高铁交会行车的安全性,建议在盾构下穿既有线地段的高铁列车运行速度应不超过300 km/h。

Background Saline nasal irrigation is an effective therapy for relieving common cold *** study aimed to investigate and explore the efficacy of physiological seawater nasal irrigation(PSNI)on children with mild and asymptomatic infection with *** This randomized controlled trial was conducted in Shanghai,China,and 403 children with mild and asymptomatic infection with Omicron were *** children were allocated into the PSNI group and the control *** primary outcome was the duration of viral shedding(DVS),and the secondary outcome was the change in clinical *** The median age of all participants was 5.59(6.26)years *** DVS was significantly shorter in the PSNI group[2.40(1.13)]than in the control group[3.09(2.14)](P=0.014).The multivariable Cox regression model also showed that patients in the PSNI group had an increased probability of shorter DVS compared with patients in the control group[hazard ratio(HR),1.27;95%confidence interval(CI),1.04–1.55;P=0.017].Subgroup analysis suggested that the DVS of patients without full vaccination was significantly reduced in the PSNI *** proportions of runny nose and stuffy nose were apparently reduced in the first three days in the PSNI group or the control group,but there was no evidence showing that PSNI contributes to the benefit compared with the control *** PSNI can reduce the DVS of patients with mild and asymptomatic infection with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2 variant.

The progression of ulcerative colitis(UC)is associated with immunologic derangement,intestinal hemorrhage,and microbiota *** traditional medications mainly focus on mitigating inflammation,it remains challenging to address multiple ***,a versatile gas-propelled nanomotor was constructed by mild fusion of post-ultrasonic CaO_(2) nanospheres with Cu_(2)O *** resulting CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O possessed a desirable diameter(291.3 nm)and a uniform size *** could be efficiently internalized by colonic epithelial cells and macrophages,scavenge intracellular reactive oxygen/nitrogen species,and alleviate immune reactions by pro-polarizing macrophages to the anti-inflammatory M2 *** nanomotor was found to penetrate through the mucus barrier and accumulate in the colitis mucosa due to the driving force of the generated oxygen *** administration of CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O could stanch the bleeding,repair the disrupted colonic epithelial layer,and reduce the inflammatory responses through its interaction with the genes relevant to blood coagulation,anti-oxidation,wound healing,and ***,it restored intestinal microbiota balance by elevating the proportions of beneficial bacteria(e.g.,Odoribacter and Bifidobacterium)and decreasing the abundances of harmful bacteria(e.g.,Prevotellaceae and Helicobacter).Our gas-driven CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O offers a promising therapeutic platform for robust treatment of UC via the rectal route.
