This pape. analyze. the.te.poral and spatial e.olution of ve.e.ation dynamics in various land cove.s in the.basin of the.Laguna Bustillos, Re.ion of Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Me.ico. We.use. an NDVI time.se.ie. for the.months of March to April (e.rly spring). The.se.ie. was constructe. from Landsat TM image. for the.pe.iod 1986-2011. The.re.ults show an incre.se.of NDVI for ve.e.ate. are.s, e.pe.ially in conife. cove., while.shrub and grassland showe. a positive.tre.d but with lowe. statistical significance. The.incre.se.in minimum te.pe.ature. in e.rly spring, during the.study pe.iod, was the.most important factor in e.plaining the.incre.se.of NDVI in ve.e.ate. are.s. A spatially distribute. analysis shows large.are.s without an NDVI tre.d, corre.ponding to are.s with sparse.ve.e.ation cove. (de.rade. are.s).
