A syste.atic phyloge.e.ic footprinting approach was pe.forme. to ide.tify conse.ve. transcription factor binding site. （TFBSs） in mammalian promote. re.ions using human, mouse.and rat se.ue.ce.alignme.ts. We.found that the.score.distributions of most binding site.mode.s did not follow the.Gaussian distribution re.uire. by many statistical me.hods. The.e.ore. we.pe.forme. an e.pirical te.t to e.tablish the.optimal thre.hold for e.ch mode.. We.gauge. our computational pre.ictions by comparing with pre.iously known TFBSs in the.PCK1 ge.e.promote. of the.cytosolic isoform of phosphoe.olpyruvate.carboxykinase. and achie.e. a se.sitivity of 75% and a spe.ificity of approximate.y 32% Almost all known site. ove.lappe. with pre.icte. site., and se.e.al ne. putative.TFBSs we.e.also ide.tifie.. A spatially e.plicit, slope.base. algorithm was cre.te. to de.ine.te.MFR zone. in 17 arid, mountainous wate.she.s using e.e.ation and land cove. data. Slope. we.e.calculate. from e.e.ation data and groupe. into 100 classe. using ite.ative.se.f-organizing classification. Candidate.MFR zone. we.e.ide.tifie. base. on slope.classe. that we.e.consiste.t with MFR. Land cove. type. that we.e.inconsiste.t with groundwate. re.harge.we.e.e.clude. from the.candidate.are.s to de.e.mine.the.final MFR zone.. No MFR re.e.e.ce.maps e.ist for comparison with the.study’s re.ults, so the.re.iability of the.re.ulting MFR zone.maps was e.aluate. qualitative.y using slope. surficial ge.logy, soil, and land cove. datase.s. MFR zone. range. from 74 km2 to 1547 km2 and accounte. for 40% of the.total wate.she. are. studie.. The.two primary outcome. we.e.coronary e.e.ts(i.e., de.th from coronary cause., myocardial infarction, or hospitalization for an acute.coronary syndrome. and invasive.bre.st cance..
