The Lower indus Basin is the leading hydrocarbon-bearing sedimentary basin in *** study has been conducted on the Sawan gas field located in the Lower indus Basin,adjacent to a few other wellknown gas fields of Pakistan like Kadanwari,Qadirpur,and Miano gas *** research aims to present the spatial distribution and reservoir potential of the productive zones of the Lower Goru *** present study utilized various two-dimensional(2D)seismic lines and well-log data(Sawan-01 and Sawan-02)to investigate the structural and stratigraphic features of the *** stratigraphic layers are mildly deepening in the southeast *** 2D seismic interpretation of the research area identifies the existence of extensional remanents,i.e.,normal *** extensional structures are associated with horst and graben geometry that acts as a trapping mechanism for *** logs are used to identify the reservoir's diverse lithology and petrophysical *** results indicate fair to good effective porosities,low shale volume,and high hydrocarbon saturation(>55%),signifying good reservoir potential in C interval of the Lower Goru Formation.

The Um Rus tonalite-granodiorite intrusion(~6 km2)occurs at the eastern end of the Neoproterozoic,eNe-trending Wadi Muba rak shear belt in the Central eastern Desert of ***-bearing quartz veins hosted by the Um Rus intrusion were mined intermittently,and initially by the ancient egyptians and until the early 1900 *** relationship between the gold mineralization,host intrusion,and regional structures has always been *** present new geochemical and geochronological data that help to define the tectonic environment and age of the Um Rus *** addition,field studies are integrated with ePMA and LA-iCP-MS data for gold-associated sulfides to better understand the formation and distribution of gold *** bulk-rock geochemical data of fresh host rocks indicate a calc-alkaline,metaluminous to mildly peraluminous,i-type granite *** trace element composition reflects a tectonic setting intermediate between subduction-related and within-plate environments,presumably transitional between syn-and post-collisional *** crystallization age of the Um Rus intrusion was determined by in situ SHRiMP 206 Pb/238 U and 207Pb/235U measurements on accessory monazite *** resultant monazite U-Pb weighted mean age(643±9 Ma;MSWD 1.8)roughly overlaps existing geochronological data for similar granitic intrusions that are confined to major shear systems and are locally associated with gold mineralization in the Central eastrn Desert(e.g.,Fawakhir and Hangaliya).This age is also consistent with magmatism recognized as concomitant to transpressional tectonics(D2:~650 Ma)during the evolution of the Wadi Mubark *** of the gold-bearing quartz veins in NNe-SSW and N-S striking fault segments was likely linked to the change from transpressional to transtensional tectonics and terrane exhumation(D3:620-580 Ma).The development of N-S throughgoing fault arrays and dike swarms(~595 Ma)led to heterogeneous deformation and recrystallizat

Activated carbon(AC)was synthesized from palm kernel shell(PKS)using different activating agents,i.e.,steam,carbon dioxide(CO 2),and CO 2-steam,in order to analyze the impact of acti-vating agents on the pore opening of *** this study,AC produced from PKS was found to have great potential as an adsorbent for methane *** different molecular diffusivity and reac-tivity of the combination of CO 2 and steam succeeded in producing AC with the highest burn-offof 78.57%,a surface area of 869.82 m 2/g,a total pore volume of 0.47 cm 3/g,and leading to maximum methane gas adsorption capacity of 4.500 mol/*** types of ACs exhibited the best fit with the Freundlich isotherm model,with the correlation coefficient(R 2)ranging from 0.997 to 0.999,indicating the formation of multilayer *** addition,the adsorption kinetic data for all ACs followed the pseudo-first-order model showing that the rate of adsorption was dependent on both the adsorbent and the adsorbate and was governed primarily by physical ad-sorption between the pore surface and methane *** results of intraparticle diffusion model indicated that the adsorption of methane was affected by both pore diffusion and exterior layer diffusion due to the different adsorption rates.

Driftwood is one of the important physical components in mountainous rivers which causes severe hazards due to the clogging of bridges,culverts,and narrow sections during ***,the understanding of driftwood dynamics and mitigation measures are crucial for managing wood in *** check dams are the most commonly used engineering measure for preventing driftwood from reaching downstream ***,these open check dams frequently lose their sediment transport function when they are blocked by sediment and driftwood,especially during major flood *** paper proposes a new type of open check dam for preventing from ***,flume experiments were conducted to examine the influence of different types of open check dams on the characteristics of driftwood *** the model with wood length(LWD)=16.5 cm,wood diameter(D)=15 mm,and wood number(N)=172,the highest trapping efficiency was observed with 90.1%and 87.2%retention rates for the classical debris flow breaker and curved footed open check dams,*** tests showed that through this proposed design,woody debris blockage in a very short time was prevented from the accumulation of woods beside the *** addition to this,most of the sediment passed through the check dam and most of the driftwood got *** can be briefly stated that the geometrical design of the structure plays an important role and can be chosen carefully to optimize trapping *** designing this type of open check dams in mountain river basins,it may provide a better understanding of the driftwood accumulation and basis for the optimal design of these *** development of the solution proposed in this work can pave the way for designing different types of open check dams for effective flood management.

Metal-substituted cobalt ferrites [MxCo(1-x)Fe2O4(M=Zn,Cu,Mn;x=0.0,0.25,0.5,and 0.75)]were synthesized via a sol-gel *** ferrite structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,surface analysis using the Brunauer-emmett-Teller method,and energy-dispersive X-ray *** activity of these ferrites against selected pathogenic microbes was *** structures remained cubic spinel phases after substitution of *** strongly influenced the microstructure and homoge- neous grain *** particle size of the ferrites increased linearly with increase in their annealing *** surface area of zinc cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (ZCFO)was 52.56m^2/g,the average pore size was 1.84nm,and pore volume was 0.136mL/*** ferrites showed antimicrobial activity toward all pathogens *** these,the most powerful was ZCFO,showing zones of inhibition of 13.0mm against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus and 12.0mm against Candida ***-irradiated ZCFO nanoparticles (150.0kGy)maintained higher antimicrobial activity than non-irradiated particles,e.g. being active toward *** (16.0mm).ZCFO is proposed as a candidate material for industrial and biomedical purposes.

The drag and side force coefficients of a half-submerged cylinder in a free-surface flow were calculated through numerical simulations,with the aim of supporting the numerical modelling of log transport in *** variability of these coefficients with the yaw angle with respect to the flow direction and with the ratio between the flow depth and the diameter of the cylinder were *** were performed with the three-dimensional code ANSYS/CFX,employing the volume of fluid multiphase technique to reproduce the critical interaction between the free surface and the *** numerical tests,showing the rise of the drag force coefficient for increasing yaw angles passing from flow-parallel to flow-perpendicular cylinder and the peak of the side force coefficient for flow-oblique cylinder,were validated by comparison with the results of laboratory *** simulations were then extended to conditions with significant blockage in the vertical direction which had not been previously experimented,revealing a strong increase in the force coefficients for decreasing ratios between the flow depth and the cylinder diameter.A detailed description of the reproduced flow features in the proximity of the cylinder for the different cases was furthermore *** report,in addition to the analysis of the force coefficients,could serve a much wider range than that of log transport,i.e.,any case in which a floating cylinder interacts with free-surface flow.

Degradation of indomethacin in river water under stress and non-stress laboratory conditions:degradation products,long-term evolution and adsorption to sediment

The pharmaceutical compound indomethacin is not totally removed in wastewater treatment plants,whose effluents flow into aquatic environments;concentrations in the 0.1-100 ng/L range are commonly found in surface waters,and its fate is ***,biological,photochemical and thermal degradation assays were conducted under stress and non-stress conditions to estimate its degradation rate in river water and establish its degradation products over *** results revealed that direct sunlight irradiation promoted the complete degradation of indomethacin（2 μg/L） in less than 6 hr,but indomethacin was detected over a period of 4 months when water was kept under the natural day-night cycle and the exposure to sunlight was partially limited,as occurs inside a body of *** biological degradation in water was negligible,while the hydrolysis at pH 7.8 was *** were monitored by ultra-pressure liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight/mass spectrometry after solid-phase extraction,and six degradation products were found;their structures were proposed based on the molecular formulae and fragmentation observed in high-resolution tandem mass spectra.4-Chlorobenzoic and 2-acetamido-5-methoxybenzoic acids were the long-term transformation products,persisting for at least 30 weeks in water kept under non-stress ***,the degradation in the presence of sediment was also monitored over time,with some differences being *** adsorption coefficients of indomethacin and degradation products on river sediment were calculated;long-term degradation products did not have significant adsorption to sediment.

High silica zeolite Y has been positively evaluated to clean-up water polluted with sulfonamides, an antibiotic family which is known to be involved in the antibiotic resistance evolution. To define possible strategies for the exhausted zeolite regeneration,the efficacy of some chemico-physical treatments on the zeolite loaded with four different sulfonamides was evaluated. The evolution of photolysis, Fenton-like reaction, thermal treatments, and solvent extractions and the occurrence in the zeolite pores of organic residues eventually entrapped was elucidated by a combined thermogravimetric（TGA–DTA）, diffractometric（XRPD）, and spectroscopic（FT-iR） approach. The chemical processes were not able to remove the organic guest from zeolite pores and a limited transformation on embedded molecules was observed. On the contrary, both thermal treatment and solvent extraction succeeded in the regeneration of the zeolite loaded from deionized and natural fresh water. The recyclability of regenerated zeolite was evaluated over several adsorption/regeneration cycles, due to the treatment efficacy and its stability as well as the ability to regain the structural features of the unloaded material.
