CONSPECtUS:Structural metal components play a vital role in a broad range of industries,from aerospace and automotive to infrastructure and *** service,these components can experience substantial wear,thermal fatigue,erosion,corrosion,or chemical reactions,resulting in significant surface or even volumetric *** of these components is often energy-intensive and economically *** repair,which aims to restore the original geometry while enabling good mechanical performance postrepair,can offset the costs *** on the additive capabilities and bonding mechanisms,structural repair technologies can be divided into four categories:nonadditive,nonmelting-based;nonadditive,melting-based;additive,nonmelting-based;additive,*** melting-based approaches can be applied to various repair geometries with good precision,the underlying melting and solidification processes inevitably lead to crucial problems impacting the mechanical performance,such as solidification porosity,high residual stresses,dendritic microstructure formation,elemental segregation,hot cracking,and stress corrosion *** fundamentally solve or minimize these problems,one may employ solid-state technologies that leverage ultrasonic vibration,friction stirring,or particle impact to facilitate metallurgical bond *** robust geometry restoration,an additive capability needs to be incorporated for continuous material feeding and precise deposition path ***,two solid-state technologies satisfy the requirement,cold spray and additive friction stir *** this Account,we discuss the structural repair enabled by solid-state metal additive manufacturing,focusing on(i)cold spray,which is a relatively established process,and(ii)additive friction stir deposition,which is an emerging process recently triggering significant research effortsthe authors are particularly invested in this process and are pioneering th

Attachment styles and PtSD in adolescents in three Nordic Countries

Studies of possible variables influencing development of posttraumatic stress (PtSD) are of great importance in the effort to enhance preventive and interventional methods in the aim to prevail this devastating condition. Despite the vast research in adults, little is still known of adolescents. Although research is scarce, attachment style has been identified to be an influencing factor in adults, and still research in adolescent is almost non-existent. to our knowledge, no prior study has been conducted, looking at the relationship between attachment style, exposure to a broad range of potentially traumatic events, and subsequent PtSD symptoms in a cross cultural perspective. this is the aim of the present study. Procedure: Data was collected from questionnaire surveys of 1283 adolescents (mean age 14.1 years). Measures: PtSD was measured with the Harvard trauma Questionnaire-Part IV (HtQ);and attachment style was studied using the Revised Adult Attachment Scale (RAAS). Potentially traumatic events were examined using a broad event list of 19 events. Results: Contrary to what was expected, significant cross cultural differences were found in the distribution of securely, preoccupied, and dismissive attached. Around half of the Faroese population was securely attached, contrary to the Danish and Icelandic population, where the majority was dismissive attached. Cross cultural differences were also found in the distribution of attachment style among those adolescents with PtSD. the majority of the Danish adolescent population with PtSD was dismissive attached;the majority of the Faroese adolescent population with PtSD was securely attached, and in the Icelandic adolescents with PtSD were distributed somewhat even between the four attachment styles. Finally, cross cultural differences were identified in which potentially traumatic events had a significant contribution to the variation in PtSD. the results are discussed and clinical recommendations are presented.

It is likely that the majority of proteins will undergo post-translational modification, be it enzymatic or non-enzymatic. these modified protein(s) regulate activity, localization and interaction with other cellular molecules thereby maintaining cellular hemostasis. Alcohol exposure significantly alters several of these post-translational modifications leading to impairments of many essential physiological processes. Here, we present new insights into novel modifications following ethanol exposure and their role in the initiation and progression of liver injury. this critical review condenses the proceedings of a symposium at the European Society for the Biomedical Research on Alcoholism Meeting held September 12-15, 2015, in Valencia, Spain.

End-stage renal disease is associated with increased post endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography adverse events in hospitalized patients

AIM to determine if end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a risk factor for post endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) adverse events (AEs). MEtHODS We performed a retrospective cohort study using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) 2011-2013. We identified adult patients who underwent ERCP using the International Classification of Diseases 9^(th) Revision (ICD-9-CM). Included patients were divided into three groups: ESRD, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and control. the primary outcome was post-ERCP AEs including pancreatitis, bleeding, and perforation determined based on specific ICD-9-CM codes. Secondary outcomes were length of hospital stay, in-hospital mortality, and admission cost. AEs and mortality were compared using multivariate logistic regression *** there were 492175 discharges that underwent ERCP during the 3 years. the ESRD and CKD groups contained 7347 and 39403 hospitalizations respectively, whereas the control group had 445424 hospitalizations. Post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) was significantly higher in the ESRD group (8.3%) compared to the control group (4.6%) with adjusted odd ratio (aOR) = 1.7 (95% CI: 1.4-2.1, ~aP ted with significantly higher ERCP-related bleeding (5.1%) compared to the control group 1.5% (aOR = 1.86, 95%CI: 1.4-2.4, ~aP tal mortality 7.1% vs 1.15% in the control OR = 6.6 (95%CI: 5.3-8.2, ~aP tal stay with adjusted mean difference (aMD) = 5.9 d (95% CI: 5.0-6.7 d, ~aP talization charges aMD = $+82064 (95%CI: $68221-$95906, ~aP tor for post-ERCP AEs and is associated with higher hospital mortality. Careful selection and close monitoring is warranted to improve outcomes.

HCV-specific cytokine induction in monocytes of patients with different outcomes of hepatitis C

AIM:Cytokine release by macrophages critically determines the type of immune response to an ***,we studied hepatitis C virus(HCV)-specific induction of interleukins-1β,-10,-12(IL-1β,IL-10,IL-12),and tumor necrosis factor-α(tNF-α)in monocytes. MEtHODS:Intracallular cytokine expression was studied by flow cytometry in 23 patients with chronic hepatitis C,14 anti-HCV seropositives without viremia and 11 controls after stimulation of peripheral blood mononuclear calls with recombinant core,NS3,NS4,NSSa and NSSb proteins. RESULtS:Patients with HCV viremia revealed greater spontaneous expression of IL-1β,tNF-α,and IL-10. Furthermore,greater than twofold higher IL-10 expression was induced by the HCV antigens in chronic hepatitis C than in the other two groups(Ptrast,neither IL- 12 nor tNF-α was induced preferentially. CONCLUSION:In chronic hepatitis C antigen-specific cytokine induction in monocytes is apparently shifted towards predominant IL-10 induction-not counterbalanced by antiviral type 1 *** may contribute to persistent viral replication.

趋磁细菌依靠其体内生物合成的磁小体颗粒沿地球磁场定向排列和游动,称为趋磁性。沿磁场的定向排列被认为可以使磁菌更有效地到达最佳生存环境,即趋磁性对磁菌的优势所在。目前对趋磁性优势的研究大多数集中在水环境或培养液环境下,而对于自然沉积物中趋磁性优势的理解还停留在假说阶段。越来越多的研究显示,磁菌在沉积物中的行为方式与水环境中所观测到的现象差别很大,因此,对趋磁性优势的研究也需要在沉积物环境中进行。本文我们通过对比在地磁场、近零磁场和反转磁场条件下两种磁菌:球菌和杆菌(Candidatus Magnetobacterium bavaricum)的时空变化,揭示在沉积物中趋磁性对趋磁细菌的作用。结果显示趋磁性对两种磁菌存在不同的作用,***在近零磁场条件下数量明显下降而在地磁场下又重新恢复,说明趋磁性优势对***的积极作用,然而球菌在近零磁磁场条件下的数量和分布与地磁场条件下相似,可能说明球菌在利用趋化性和行为方式上与***有很大不同。***在反转磁场条件下数量减少,而球菌则接近消失,说明球菌受极向趋磁性的影响比***大。两种磁菌因受沉积物环境和自身趋化性的影响在趋磁性上表现不同,可能***存在不同的趋磁性特点。本文实验结果说明对趋磁性的理解需要立足于复杂的沉积物环境。

Logatchev热液区（大西洋中脊14°45′N处）是为数不多的与超基性岩有关的海底热液系统之一。它位于裂谷壁的东部内侧，距离扩张轴7km，其形成先前认为与拆离断层作用和核杂岩有关。利用各种遥控潜水器、地质采样与浅钻的地质填图揭示了热液活动的构造控制因素，同时揭示其处于由非均质超镁铁质和镁铁质侵入岩组成的碎屑流以内的位置。混合的镁铁质／超镁铁质围岩岩性与已经发表的喷口流体和气体的化学数据一致，其展示了因与镁铁质、超镁铁质岩石相互作用的特征。块状硫化物的形成比之前所认识的更加集中，且可能仅限于海底的薄覆盖层。Logatchev热液区表现出很多其他热液区不常见的特性。其中之一就是所谓的“烟囱洼坑”，该海底洼地宽数米，以由小部分硫化物碎屑和大量围岩物质组成的上升环边为特征。在这些烟囱喷口，热液喷出作用直接来自于喷口内的孔洞和环边上小型厘米至分米级高的富铜烟囱。基于地质填图和采样，我们认为这些烟囱喷口是超镁铁质岩主控、发育大量滑塌的洋脊轴外位置处、与区域及局部地质背景相关的产物，同时也与为热液对流单元供热的辉长岩侵入有关。
