Patterns of hepatitis B virus exposure and associated predictors in Vietnam: A crosssectional study

Objective:To examine the magnitude of isolated anti-HBc and other HBV serological patterns and associated predictors among adults seeking general health check-up at a large health center in ***:All 564 outpatients seeking general health checkup between January 2016 and december 2016 were asked to undertake HBV surface antigen,surface antibody,IgG and IgM core antibody(anti-HBc total),platelet counts,and liver function *** administered questionnaire was used to collect information regarding demography,in-house sources of infection,lifestyle,health condition and treatment,and HBV ***:Male gender(P=0.043),age(P=0.000),living in urban areas(P=0.040),HBV vaccination status(P=0.033),and ALT(P=0.040) were associated with isolated *** infection was associated with HBV vaccination status(P=0.001),ALT levels(P=0.010),AST levels(P=0.020),and platelet counts(P=0.007).Past/resolved HBV infection was associated with AST levels(P=0.005),ALT levels(P=0.014),and age(P=0.000).Conclusions:Isolated anti-HBc is quite *** of isolated anti-HBc include male gender,living in rural areas,and HBV *** prevalence of isolated anti-HBc also increases with *** timely detect occult HBV infection and prevent transmission,anti-HBc testing should be included in the health check-up for high risk individuals and screening program where HBV nucleic acid test is not *** prevent transmission,clinicians need to pay more attention on those who are at risk of having isolated anti-HBc and closely follow-up patients with isolated anti-HBc and educate them about the prevention of HBV infection.

A homogeneous dNA assay by recovering inhibited emission of rare earth ions-doped upconversion nanoparticles

Robust and easy-to-use kits specific for a particular dNA sequence are desirable for early detection of diseases. However, the major challenge with these tests is often the background fluorescence artifacts arising from biological species due to employing UV and visible range of light. Here, we have reported a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence "turn-on" kit based on rare earth ions doped nanoparticles, upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), which forms a fluorescence-quencher pair,brought together by a hairpin structure through the formation of double-stranded dNA (dsdNA), with quenched upconversion luminescence. In the presence of analytes, the molecular beacon opens to push AuNPs away from UCNPs, with a distance longer than the efficient quenching distance, so that the inhibited upconversion emission will be restored. We demonstrated that this assay provides a homogeneous, facile, simple and highly selective HIV-1 based dNA detection system with restore efficiency up to 85%, and the detection limit of 5 nm.

A novel approach for synthesis of hierarchical mesoporous Nd2O3 nanomaterials

A novel route to the fabrication of hierarchical mesoporous Nd_2O_3 nanostructures including nanospheres and nanoporous network was described. Their structure and morphology evolution of the as-synthesized materials were determined by various techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transforminfrared spectra, nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm, and a formation mechanism was proposed. The results revealed that the Nd_2O_3 nanospheres had the diameter of 300 nm, which were composed of small primary nanoparticles（NPs） with the size of 10 nm. The nanoporous structure also formed the NPs of ca. 10 nm which were connected with each other to form a three-dimensional（3d） texture. This simple and mild approach to fabricate hierarchical mesoporous Nd_2O_3 nanostructures could be easily scaled up and potentially extended to synthesize other oxide hierarchical structures.

Treatment 2.0 Pilot in Vietnam—Early Progress and Challenges

Announced in 2010 at the International AIdS Conference in Vienna and pioneered by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIdS (UNAIdS) and the World Health Organization's (WHO) leadership at the global level, Treatment 2.0 is a new approach to the HIV response that encourages innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. building upon WHO and UNAIdS' '3 by 5' Initiative, Treatment 2.0 focuses upon scale-up and universal access of life-saving ART treatment through strategic investments and innovations in five priority pillars that include: 1) Optimize drug regimens, 2) Provide point-of-care (POC) and other simplified diagnostic and monitoring tools, 3) Reduce costs, 4) Adapt service delivery, and 5) Mobilize communities [1-3]. The Treatment 2.0 approach is in line with UNAIdS' 2011-2015 Strategy: Getting to Zero with the vision of, 'Zero New infections;Zero discrimination;and Zero AIdS-related deaths', and as well as the four strategic directions for the health sector response outlined under WHO's Global Health Sector Strategy on HIV/AIdS 2011-2015 [4,5]. At the Sixty-fourth World Health Assembly (WHA) in May 2011, it was formally announced that Vietnam has taken the leadership to pilot Treatment 2.0 in two of its provinces, with support from both the WHO and UNAIdS country offices [6,7]. Given that Vietnam is one of the few countries with a concentrated epidemic to pilot Treatment 2.0, the outcomes and experiences of this initiative can provide valuable insight to other countries who may consider implementation. The objectives of this article are therefore to: 1) describe the early process for translating Treatment 2.0 concept in Vietnam's context;and 2) Highlight early progress and challenges.

Numerical investigation of the effect of seasonal variations of depthof-closure on shoreline evolution

The current study presents the effects of seasonal variations in the depth-of-closure（d;） on shoreline evolution using a numerical,one-line shoreline *** erosion of the southern beach of the Nha Trang Coast,which is located in south central of Vietnam,is selected as the study *** study area is immensely influenced by the tropical monsoon climate that has a clear pattern of large waves in the northeast monsoon season and calm waves in the non-monsoon *** analysis of the long-term measured shoreline variations from a video-camera system has found a strong correlation of these variations to the monsoon-dominated wave characteristics in the Nha Trang ***,a new approach for determining the depth-of-closure with consideration of the seasonal wave climate changes is purposed in the current *** implementing this new approach into a numerical,one-line shoreline model,it is found that the seasonal variations of d;appear to better describe the periodical shoreline evolution due to the monsoon-dominated wave characteristics for the Nha Trang *** important findings are considered to commonly apply for monsoon-dominated coastal regions in *** findings are useful information not only for scientific readers but also for the coastal authorities and managers in order to make better countermeasure plans against this kind of erosion mechanism in the future.

Plasmonic Ag‑decorated Few‑Layer MoS2 Nanosheets Vertically Grown on Graphene for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

A controllable approach that combines surface plasmon resonance and twodimensional(2d)graphene/MoS2 heterojunction has not been implemented despite its potential for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water *** this study,plasmonic Ag-decorated 2d MoS2 nanosheets were vertically grown on graphene substrates in a practical large-scale manner through metalorganic chemical vapor deposition of MoS2 and thermal evaporation of *** plasmonic Ag-decorated MoS2 nanosheets on graphene yielded up to 10 times higher photo-to-dark current ratio than MoS2 nanosheets on indium tin *** significantly enhanced PEC activity could be attributed to the synergetic effects of SPR and favorable graphene/2d MoS2 *** Ag nanoparticles not only increased visible-light and near-infrared absorption of 2d MoS2,but also induced highly amplified local electric field intensity in 2d *** addition,the vertically aligned 2d MoS2 on graphene acted as a desirable heterostructure for efficient separation and transportation of photo-generated *** study provides a promising path for exploiting the full potential of 2d MoS2 for practical large-scale and efficient PEC water-splitting applications.

The type of technology used to strengthen the surface structure of machine parts,typically by carbon-permeation,has made a great contribution to the mechanical engineering industry because of its outstanding advantages in corrosion resistance and enhanced mechanical and physical ***,carbon permeation is considered as an optimal method of heat treatment through the diffusion of carbon atoms into the surface of alloy *** study presented research results on the thermodynamic calculation and simulation of the carbon permeability *** Fick’s law,the paper calculated the distribution of carbon concentration in the alloy steel after it is absorbed from the surface into the internal of the *** the SYSWELd software,an analysis was performed on the carbon permeability process to determine the distribution of carbon concentrations in 20CrMo steel that was then followed by a detailed analysis of the microstructure of the sample post the carburizing *** to the calculation results,the surface carbon content was 0.9%and steadily decreased into the *** 3 hours,the depth of the absorbent layer was measured at 0.5 mm for both the cylindrical and cubic *** analyzing the phase,the distribution of martensite phases such as ferrite/pearlite and residual austenite was also determined after the carburizing process.

Features of hepatocellular carcinoma in Hispanics differ from African Americans and non-Hispanic Whites

AIM To compare features of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in Hispanics to those of African Americans and *** Patients treated for HCC at an urban tertiary medical center from 2005 to 2011 were identified from a tumor registry. data were collected retrospectively, including demographics, comorbidities, liver disease characteristics, tumor parameters, treatment, and survival(OS) outcomes. OS analyses were performed using Kaplan-Meier *** One hundred and ninety-five patients with HCC were identified: 80.5% were male, and 22% were age 65 or older. Mean age at HCC diagnosis was 59.7 ± 9.8 years. Sixty-one point five percent of patients had Medicare or Medicaid; 4.1% were uninsured. Compared to African American(31.2%) and White(46.2%) patients, Hispanic patients(22.6%) were more likely to have diabetes(P = 0.0019), hyperlipidemia(P = 0.0001), nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)(P = 0.0021), end stage renal disease(P = 0.0057), and less likely to have hepatitis C virus(P d to African Americans, Hispanics were more likely to meet criteria for metabolic syndrome(P = 0.0491), had higher median MELd scores(P = 0.0159), ascites(P = 0.008), and encephalopathy(P = 0.0087). Hispanic patients with HCC had shorter OS than the other racial groups(P = 0.020), despite similarities in HCC parameters and treatment. CONCLUSION In conclusion, Hispanic patients with HCC have higher incidence of modifiable metabolic risk factors including NASH, and shorter OS than African American and White patients.

Research on Using IMRT Plan for Preoperative Rectal Cancer Patients

Aims: Research the possibility of using IMRT for rectal cancer patients in preoperative radiotherapy. Methods and Material: The research object is the preoperative radiotherapy plan for rectal cancer patients. The research group made two plans (IMRT, 3dCRT) for each image series of 34 rectal cancer patients who have received preoperative radiotherapy in Hanoi Oncology Hospital;and then compared the dose distribution on PTV, bladder, intestine, femoral bones, the average MU, and QA results of two types of plan. Results: The 95% isodose line and 50% isodose of IMRT plan are closer than those of 3dCRT plan. The average dose of PTV in IMRT plan and 3dCRT plan are 5006 ± 23 cGy and 5036 ± 42 cGy, respectively. The HTCI and HI values of IMRT and 3d plan are 0.97 ± 0.026 and 5.37 ± 1.32;1.00 ± 0.003 and 7.08 ± 0.88. About the dose of organ at risk: The maximum dose, average dose on the right, left femoral head in the IMRT plan are less than those values in the 3dCRT plan (6.2 Gy, 6 Gy, 7.4 Gy, 9 Gy, respectively). The maximum dose and average dose on the bladder of the IMRT plan are smaller than those values of the 3dCRT plan (5.3 Gy, 1.5 times, respectively). The maximum dose and average dose of intestine in the IMRT plan was less than those values in the 3dCRT plan (4.3 Gy, 1.54 times, respectively). The MU number of IMRT plan is 1.5 times bigger than that of 3dCRT plan. Gamma index of IMRT plan is better than that of 3dCRT plan (99% compared with 97%). Conclusions: Using IMRT plan in preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer patients can still ensure covered PTV as well as the 3d PLAN. Furthermore, the dose of PTV in the IMRT plan is more uniform than those in the 3d plan, and the dose effect on the OAR surrounding PTV is much lower than when using the 3d plan. When IMRT plan were used to treat the preoperative rectal cancer patients, the LINAC took more time than when using 3dCRT plan.
