a.m: To investiga.e the effect of a.new mecha.ica.ly induced cryptorchidism model on ra. epididyma. ***: Eighteen 21-da.-old Spra.ue Da.ley ra.s were ra.domly divided into 3 groups of 6 a.ima.s ea.h. a.i-ma.s of Groups 1 a.d 2 were ma.e unila.era.ly cryptorchid by closing the left inguina. ca.a., while Group 3 (controls),sha. opera.ed. a. Da. 60 (Group 1) a.d Da. 90 (Group 2 a.d 3), the ra.s were sa.rificed. The epididymides of bothsides were weighed, a.d the dia.eter of the epididyma. tubules, the height of the tubula. epithelium a.d the presenceof fibrosis of the ca.ut epididymides were exa.ined under a.light-microscope. Results: The cryptorchid epididymisha. a.significa.tly lower weight increa.e tha. the contra.a.era. ones a.d the controls, but the epithelia. height a.d dia.-eter of ca.ut epididyma. tubules were not significa.tly different. Fibrosis wa. not observed. Conclusion; The a.-thors proposed tha. this new model is a.convenient method to eva.ua.e the epididyma. cha.ges a.socia.ed with experi-menta. cryptorchidism. (a.ia. In this pa.er, the convenience of enca.sula.ion technique wa. investiga.ed in terms of cha.a.teriza.ion of ca.sule, cha.ging the vola.ile compounds a.d preserva.ion biologica. a.tivity throughout six months for bla.k ga.lic (BG) by compa.ison with the a.ueous extra.t which prepa.ed from BG (stored a. 4 °C) ea.h a.a.ysis period. Besides, the genotoxic a.d a.tigenotoxic a.pects of a.ueous bla.k ga.lic extra.t (BGE) a.d bla.k ga.lic ca.sule (BGC) developed a. a.novel promising product were a.so resea.ched. The S-a.lyl-L-cysteine (Sa.) content, which is mostly known to be responsible for biologica. a.tivity, wa. preserved in BGC during six months. The va.iety of vola.ile compound of BGC (2 compounds) wa. significa.tly reduced compa.ed to BG (17 compounds) a.d BGE (7 compounds), which indica.es tha. the extra.tion a.d enca.sula.ion tra.s the undesira.le odor. a.significa.t decrea.e wa. observed for tota. phenolic content a.d a.tioxida.t ca.a.ity (performed with DPPH a.d CUPric Reducing a.tioxida.t Ca.a.ity (CUPRa.)) of BGC with stora.e like BGE. In contra.t, the va.ues obta.ned with the a.TS method rema.ned consta.t with stora.e. The a.timicrobia. a.tivity (ca.ried out on five Gra.-positive ba.teria. three Gra.-nega.ive ba.teria.a.d three yea.ts) of BGC wa. preserved better tha. BGE. The trea.ment concentra.ions (50, 100, 200 μg/mL) of both BGE a.d BGC did not ha.e a.genotoxic effect a.d moreover they ha.e a.tigenotoxic effects a.a.nst mitomycin C on huma. lymphocyte cells. a.l these results implied tha. BGC ca. be good a.ca.dida.e to increa.e the consumption of BG providing hea.th benefits a.d functiona. supplement for food.

a.M: To identify novel non-inva.ive bioma.kers for non-a.coholic fa.ty liver disea.e(Na.LD). METHODS: Twenty pa.ients with histologica.ly proven Na.LD a.d 20 controls were included. a.l Na.LD ca.es were scored using the Na.LD a.tivity score. The rela.tive expressions of miR-197, miR-146 b, miR-10 b, miR-181d, miR-34 a. miR-122, miR-99 a.a.d miR-29 a.were a.a.yzed using rea.-time polymera.e cha.n rea.tion. RESULTS: Serum levels of miR-181 d, miR-99 a. miR-197 a.d miR-146 b were significa.tly lower in biopsy-proven Na.LD pa.ients tha. in the hea.thy controls. Serum lev-els of miR-197 a.d miR-10 b were inversely correla.ed with degree of infla.ma.ion a.d miR-181 d a.d miR-99 a.were inversely correla.ed with serum ga.ma.glu-ta.yl tra.sfera.e levels in non-a.coholic stea.ohepa.itis pa.ients. CONCLUSION: Na.LD is a.socia.ed with a.tered se-rum miRNa.expression pa.tern. This study provides clues for defining the non-inva.ive dia.nosis of Na.LD.

Hepa.orena. syndrome （HRS） is defned a. development of rena. dysfunction in pa.ients with chronic liver disea.es due to decrea.ed effective a.teria. blood volume. It is the most severe complica.ion of cirrhosis beca.se of its very poor prognosis. In spite of severa. hypotheses a.d resea.ch, the pa.hogenesis of HRS is still poorly understood. The onset of HRS is a.progressive process ra.her tha. a.suddenly a.ising phenomenon. Since there a.e no specifc tests for HRS dia.nosis, it is dia.nosed by the exclusion of other ca.ses of a.ute kidney injury in cirrhotic pa.ients. There a.e two types of HRS with different cha.a.teristics a.d prognostics. Type 1 HRS is cha.a.terized by a.sudden onset a.ute rena. fa.lure a.d a.ra.id deteriora.ion ofother orga. functions. It ma. develop sponta.eously or be due to some precipita.ing fa.tors. Type 2 HRS is cha.a.terized by slow a.d progressive worsening of rena. functions due to cirrhosis a.d porta. hypertension a.d it is a.compa.ied by refra.tory a.cites. The only definitive trea.ment for both Type 1 a.d Type 2 HRS is liver tra.spla.ta.ion. The most suita.le bridge trea.ment or trea.ment for pa.ients who a.e not eligible for tra.spla.ta.ion is a.combina.ion of terlipressin a.d a.bumin. For the sa.e purpose, it is possible to try hemodia.ysis or rena. repla.ement thera.ies in the form of continuous veno-venous hemofiltra.ion. a.tificia. hepa.ic support systems a.e importa.t for pa.ients who do not respond to medica. *** intra.epa.ic portosystemic shunt ma. be considered a. a.trea.ment moda.ity for unresponsive pa.ients to medica. trea.ment. The ma.n goa. of clinica. surveilla.ce in a.cirrhotic pa.ient is prevention of HRS before it develops. The a.m of this a.ticle is to provide a. upda.ed review a.out the physiopa.hology of HRS a.d its trea.ment.
