In this work,the stress intensity factors(SIFs)for a wide range of sem.-elliptical surface cracks with different inclination angles in a cylindrical bar subj.cted to pure tension were investigated *** m.in param.ters considered to evaluate the SIFs were the crack size ratio(a/d),the crack aspect ratio(a/c),and the crack inclination angle(0).The dual-boundary elem.nt m.t hod im.lem.nted in software BEASY was used to com.ute the SIF values for *** her m.re,the general closed-form.solutions were proposed to evaluate the corresponding SIFs for m.de I,m.de II and m.de III types of fracture through curve fitting *** solutions can provide accurate and reliable values of stress intensity factors for a crack on a cylindrical bar under pure tension in a rapid way com.ared to those obtained using com.utational *** addition,these results can be used as inputs for failure studies and life evaluations of cracked cylinder under working conditions.

In assessing the relationship between calcium.supplem.ntation and m.intaining bone m.ss or reducing the risk of fracture, the effectiveness of calcium.supplem.ntation has never been decisive. Freshwater crayfish rely on am.rphous calcium.carbonate (ACC), an instable polym.rph of calcium.carbonate, as the m.in m.neral in the exoskeleton and in the tem.orary storage organ, the gastrolith. Inspired by the crayfish m.del, we have previously shown an increase in calcium.bioavailability in rats adm.nistered with synthetic stable ACC vs. crystalline calcium.carbonate (CCC). The current study com.ared the effects of am.rphous calcium.derived from.either gastrolith or synthetic ACC with those of crystalline calcium. found in com.ercial CCC or calcium.itrate supplem.nts, in a bone loss prevention m.del. Rats were subj.cted to either sham.or ovariectom. (oVX) operation (n^20/ group) followed by adm.nistration of food pellets supplem.nted with 0.5% calcium.from.either source over 12 weeks. m.cro-com.uted tom.graphy (μCT) and histom.rphom.tric analyses revealed bone loss prevention by both gastrolith and ACC treatm.nts, m.nifested by an increase in m.rphom.tric bone param.ters, com.ared to both CCC-?and calcium.citrate-treated groups. Both gastrolith and ACC treatm.nts resulted in bone form.tion in the tibia cancellous bone, indicated by dynam.c histom.rphom.try param.ters, com.ared to either the CCC or calcium.citrate treatm.nts. Levels of urine deoxypyridinoline (DPD), suggested an anti-resorptive effect of ACC, which was also the only treatm.nt that led to a significant increase in vertebral m.chanical strength, as supported by μCT analysis of topology and orientation param.ters of the vertebral trabeculae. To our knowledge, such levels of bone loss prevention by calcium.supplem.nts have never been reported. These findings thus suggest the potential of both natural (crayfish gastrolith) and, to a greater extent, synthetic ACC sources for the prevention of m.tabolic bone disor

A ciliated hepatic foregut cyst (CHFC) is a rare foregut developm.ntal m.lform.tion usually diagnosed in adulthood. Five percent of reported cases of CHFC transform.into squam.us cell carcinom.. We report the presentation, evaluation, and surgical m.nagem.nt of a sym.tom.tic 45-year-old m.le found to have a 6.2 cm.CHFC. Contrast tom.graphy-guided fine-needle aspiration dem.nstrated colum.ar, ciliated epithelium.consistent with the histologic diagnosis of CHFC. The intracystic levels of carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9 and carcinoem.ryonic antigen (CEA) were extrem.ly high (978118 U/m. and 973 μg/L, respectively). Histologically, the wall of the cyst showed characteristic pseudopapillae lined with a ciliated stratified colum.ar epithelium. underlying sm.oth m.scle, an outer fibrous layer and no atypia. Im.unohistochem.stry for CA19-9 and CEA was positive. This is the first case report of a CHFC in which levels of CA 19-9 and CEA were m.asured. our findings suggest that a large sized m.ltilocular cyst and elevated cyst CA19-9 and CEA levels do not exclude a CHFC from.consideration in the diagnosis. CHFCs should be included in the differential diagnosis of hepatic lesions. Accurate diagnosis of a CHFC is necessary given its potential for m.lignant transform.tion, and surgical excision is recom.ended.

Dystrobrevin-binding protein 1 （Dtnbp1） is one of the earliest identified schizophrenia susceptibility genes. Reduced expression of DTNBP1 is com.only found in brain areas of schizophrenic patients. Dtnbp1-nuU m.tant m.ce exhibit abnorm.lities in beha- viors and im.airm.nts in neuronal activities. However, how dim.nished DTNBP1 expression contributes to clinical relevant fea- tures of schizophrenia rem.ins to be illustrated. Here, using a conditional Dtnbp1 knockout m.use line, we identified an in vivo schizophrenia-relevant function of DTNBP1 in pyram.dal neurons of the m.dial prefrontal cortex （m.FC）. We dem.nstrated that DTNBP1 elim.nation specifically in pyram.dal neurons of the m.FC im.aired m.use pre-pu[se inhibition （PPI） behavior and reduced perisom.tic GABAergic synapses. We further revealed that loss of DTNBP1 in pyram.dal neurons dim.nished activity- dependent secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF）. Finally, we showed that chronic BDNF infusion in the m.FC fully rescued both GABAergic synaptic dysfunction and PPI behavioral deficit induced by DTNBP1 elim.nation from.pyram.dal neurons. our findings highlight brain region- and cell type-specific functions of DTNBP1 in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia, and under- score BDNF restoration as a potential therapeutic strategy for schizophrenia.

m.ltifunctional iodoaryl m.nom.rs were used for the catalyst- and solvent-free generation of m.croporous polym.r networks of high surface areas up to 732m.g-1. The therm.l conversion of the m.nom.rs relies on the hom.lytic cleavage of weak iodine-carbon bonds followed by a C-C coupling of the radicalic interm.diates. By using tri- or tetrafunctional m.nom.rs and by tuning reaction tem.erature and tim., the optim.m.reaction conditions allow the form.tion of the corresponding m.croporous networks in good yields of 71%-86%. The resulting networks exhibit notable high Co2 and H2 adsorption capacities of up to 8.89 wt% （273K, 1 bar） and up to 1.31 wt% （77K, 1 bar）, respectively.

Directionally solidified binary m.-Al eutectic alloy wires of approxim.tely 5 m. in diam.ter were produced by the ohno continuous casting （oCC） process and the m.crostructure was exam.ned. It was found that the wires possess obvious unidirectional growth characteristic along its axial direction. The m.crostructure consists of parallel colum.ar grains that resulted from.the com.etitive growth of equiaxed grains solidified on the head of dum.y bar. Each colum.ar grain com.rises regular eutectic a-m. and β-m.17 Al12 phases, which grew along the axial direction of the wires. The m.rphology of the eutectic is m.inly lam.llar, m.anwhile rod eutectic exists. The form.tion of rod eutectic was attributed to the ＂bridging effect＂ caused by incidental elem.nts in the alloy.

one of today＇s m.j.r challenges is to provide green m.terials for a cleaner environm.nt. We have conducted studies on carbon dioxide（Co2） adsorption and conversion to valuable products by an ecofriendly approach based in chitosan/graphene oxide（CSGo） nanocom.osite film. Rheological behavior indicates that the CSGo has a better solvation property than the pure chitosan. An adsorption capacity of 1.0152 m.ol Co2/g of CSGo nanocom.osite at4.6 bar was observed. The catalytic behavior of the CSGo nanocom.osite in the presence of tetra-n-butylam.onium.iodide（n-Bu4 NI） as co-catalyst was evaluated for the cycloaddition of Co2 to epoxides, to give cyclic carbonates, in the absence of any solvent. These results strongly suggest that the CSGo nanocom.osite m.y open new vistas towards the developm.nt of ecofriendly m.terial for catalytic conversion and adsorption of Co2 on industrial scale.
