Beneﬁcial microbes can improve soil health by promoting soil structure,nutrient cycling,and disease *** addition,a wide array of rhizospheric microbes are responsible for producing metabolically active compounds including various types of plant growth ***,microbial biodiversity studies could contribute to the improvement of agricultural practices in deprived areas,such as the Pampean semiarid *** vast majority of studies conducted on endophytic microorganisms have focused on intensive crop legume *** contrast,little attention has been paid to microorganisms of native legumes,whose ecology is not directly affected by human *** this study,endophytic microorganisms isolated from root nodules of a selected native legume of the genus Rhynchosia were *** isolates were studied with a focus on their plant growth-pro-moting rhizobacteria(PGPR)*** the edaphic characteristics of the Pampean semiarid region,the isolates obtained were evaluated for their ability to grow under three salt stress conditions(50,100,and 200 mM NaCl)and four different pH values(6,7,8,and 9).Based on their PGPR activities,the selected strains were phylogenetically grouped using *** results showed great variability among the isolates in terms of the characteristics *** legumes manifested a wide endophytic variability and remar.able perfor-mance in PGPR *** conclude that they could be used as potential bioinoculants for legume cultivation,an excellent alternative to the use of chemical fertilizers that currently pollute the environment.

Body Contour in the Post-Bariatric Male Patient

Background: Obesity is currently considered a public health problem. Bariatric procedures have become an important part of obesity management and, consequently, the number of male patients seeking post-bariatric reconstructive procedures have increased. Therefore, the clinical approach and understanding of the body contour of this population have become more relevant. The goal of post-bariatric reconstruction is to enhance the male silhouette through removal of skin and adipose tissue excess, and abdominal rectus diastasis repair. Material and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study at the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department of the National Medical Center “20 de Noviembre”. All male patients referred to our department to start a post-bariatric reconstruction protocol from January 2018 to december 2022 were included in this study. Results: In total, 15 patients who underwent corporal contouring procedures were included;median age was 49.2 years with minimum of 33 years, and a maximum of 57 years. Median Body mass index was 28.4 kg/m2 with minimum of 22 kg/m2 and maximum of 38 kg/m2. All patients were treated 18 months after their bariatric surgery. All patients underwent an abdominoplasty as a body contouring procedure. 4 (26.7%) patients presented complications related to the surgery. Conclusion: We described a comprehensive and systematic approach to massive weight loss for male patients, suggesting an abdominal marking based on the patient’s clinical features and the expected results avoiding feminization of the abdominal body contour.

Background: The protective role of (poly)phenols against metabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in ***: To assess associations of dietary (poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiometabolic health parameters in adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11 to 14 years enrolled in the SI! Program for Secondary Schools trial (NCT03504059). (Poly)phenol intake was assessed using semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer database. The measured cardiometabolic parameters were waist circumference (WC) age-sex z-score， blood pressure (BP) age-sex z-score， blood glucose (BG)， triglycerides (TG)， and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c). Multilevel mixed-effect linear regression models were applied to examine the association between (poly)phenol quintiles and cardiometabolic health ***: Compared to the lowest quintile， adolescents in the highest quintile of total (poly)phenol intake had lower WC z-scores (β=-0.09， 95%CI=-0.09;-0.08， P-for trend=0.002)， mean arterial pressure z-scores (β =-0.11， 95%CI=-0.12;-0.09， P-for trend=0.206)， and HDL-c (β=-1.52， 95%CI=-2.90;-0.14， P-for trend=0.108)， after multivariable adjustment. The WC z-scores (β=-0.11， 95%CI=-0.19;-0.03， P-for trend=0.013) and HDL-c (β=-2.16， 95%CI=-3.78;-0.53， P-for trend=0.046) were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake compared to the lowest quintile. Carbon Dioxide/Methane Separation by Adsorption on Sepiolite

In this work, the use of sepiolite for the removal of carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide/methane mixture by a pressure swing adsorption （PSA） process has been researched. Adsorption equilibrium and kinetics have been measured in a fixed-bed, and the adsorption equilibrium parameters of carbon dioxide and methane on sepiolite have been obtained. A model based on the LDF approximation has been employed to simulate the fixed-bed kinetics, using the Langmuir equation to describe the adsorption equilibrium isotherm. The functioning of a PSA cycle for separating carbon dioxide/methane mixtures using sepiolite as adsorbent has also been studied. The experimental results were compared with the ones predicted by the model adapted to a PSA system. Methane with purity higher than 97% can be obtained from feeds containing carbon dioxide with concentrations ranging from 34% to 56% with the proposed PSA cycle. These results suggest that sepiolite is an adsorbent with good properties for its employment in a PSA cycle for carbon dioxide removal from landfill gases.

An in vitro gas production （GP） technique was used to investigate the effects of combining different doses of Salix babylonica extract （SB） with exogenous fibrolytic enzymes （Ez） based on xylanase （X） and cellulase （C）, or their mixture （XC; 1：1 v/v） on in vitro fermentation characteristics of a total mixed ration of corn silage and concentrate mixture （50：50, w/w） as substrate. Four levels of SB （0, 0.6, 1.2 and 1.8 mL g-1 dry matter （DM）） and four supplemental styles of Ez （1 μL g-1 DM; control （no enzymes）, X, C and XC （1：1, v/v） were used in a 4×4 factorial arrangement. In vitro GP （mL g-1 DM） were recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h of incubation. After 72 h, the incubation process was stopped and supernatant pH was determined, and then filtered to determine dry matter degradability （DMD）. Fermentation parameters, such as the 24 h gas yield （GY24）, in vitro organic matter digestibility （OMD）, metabolizable energy （ME）, short chain fatty acid concentrations （SCFA）, and microbial crude protein production （MCP） were also estimated. Results indicated that there was a SBxEz interaction （P〈0.0001） for the asymptotic gas production （b）, the rate of gas production （c）, GP from 6 to 72 h, GP2 （P=0.0095）, and GP4 （P=0.02）. The SB and different combination of enzymes supplementation influenced （P〈0.001） in vitro GP parameters after 12 h of incubation; the highest doses of SB （i.e., 1.8 mL g-1 DM）, in the absence of any Ez, quadratically increased （P〈0.05） the initial delay before GP begins （L） and GP at different incubation times, with lowering b （quadratic effect, P〈0.0001 ） and c （quadratic effect, P〈0.0001 ; linear effect, P=0.0018）. The GP was the lowest （P〈0.05） when the highest SB level was combined with cellulose. There were SBxEz interactions （P〈0.001） for OMD, ME, the partitioning factor at 72 h of incubation （PF72）, GY24, SCFA, MCP （P=0.0143）, and pH （P=0.0008）. Background:Lung hypoplasia,pulmonary persistent hypertension of the newborn and its morphological changes are the main features in congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH).This study was undertaken to investigate if antenatal use of sildenafil and/or bosentan attenuates vascular remodeling,promotes branching,and improves alveolarization in experimental nitrofeninduced ***:Nitrofen(100 mg)was gavage-fed to pregnant rats at post conception day(PCD)9 to induce *** rats were randomized to 5 groups:1)control;2)nitrofen;3)nitrofen+sildenafil 100 mg/kg per day at PCD 16-20;4)nitrofen+bosentan 30 mg/kg per day,at PCD 16-20,and 5)nitrofen+bosentan+sildenafil,same doses and administration *** cesarean delivery,the offsprings were sacrifi *** diaphragmatic defect and pulmonary hypoplasia were identified,and the lungs were *** wall thickness,bronchiolar density and alveolarization were ***:The offsprings with CDH were characterized by severe pulmonary hypoplasia(lung weight-to-body weight ratio:0.0263[95%confidence interval(CI)0.0242-0.0278)]in the nitrofen group versus 0.0385(95%CI 0.0355-0.0424)in the control group(P=0.0001).Pulmonary arterial wall thickness was decreased to 3.0(95%CI 2.8-3.7)μm in the nitrofen+sildenafil group versus 5.0(95%CI 4.1-4.9)μm in the nitrofen group(P=0.02).Terminal bronchioles increased to 13.7(95%CI 10.7-15.2)μm in the nitrofen+bosentan group in contrast to 8.7(95%CI 7.2-9.4)μm in the nitrofen group(P=0.002).More significant differences(P=0.0001)were seen in terminal bronchioles in the nitrofen+sildenafil+bosentan group than in the nitrofen group[14.0(95%CI 12.5-15.4)μm versus 8.5(95%CI 7.1-9.3)μm].Pulmonary arterial wall thickness was also decreased in the former ***:In this rat model,antenatal treatment with sildenafil attenuates vascular *** promotes the development of terminal bronchioles in nitrofen-induced CDH.

Residual activity of cetrimide and chlorhexidine on Enterococcus faecalis-infected root canals

Effective final irrigation regimen is an important step in order to achieve better disinfection and ensure residual antimicrobial effects after root canal preparation. The aim of this study was to compare the residual antimicrobial activity of 0.2% cetrimide, and 0.2% and 2% chlorhexidine in root canals infected with Enterococcus faecalis. Biofilms of E. faecalis were grown on uniradicular roots for 4 weeks. After root canal preparation, root canals were irrigated with 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid （EDTA） to remove the smear layer. The roots were randomly divided into three experimental groups （n=26） according to the final irrigating solution： Group I, 5 mL 0.2% cetrimide; Group II, 5 mL 0.2% chlorhexidine; and Group III, 5 mL 2% chlorhexidine. Samples were collected for 50 days to denote the presence of bacterial growth. The proportion of ungrown specimens over 50 days was evaluated using the nonparametric Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Differences among groups were tested using the log-rank test and the level of statistical significance was set at P〈0.05. The highest survival value was found with 2% chlorhexidine, showing statistically significant differences from the other two groups. At 50 days, E. faecalisgrowth was detected in 69.23% specimens in Groups I and II, and in 34.61% specimens of Group III. There were no significant differences between 0.2% cetrimide and 0.2% chlorhexidine. Final irrigation with 2% chlorhexidine showed greater residual activity than 0.2% chlorhexidine and 0.2% cetrimide in root canals infected with E. faecalis.
