Double common bile duct: A case report

Double common bile duct （DCBD） is a rare congenital anomaly in which two common bile ducts exist. One usually has normal drainage into the papilla duodeni major and the other usually named accessory common bile duct （ACBD） opens in different parts of upper gastrointestinal tract （stomach, duodenum, ductus pancreaticus or septum）. This anomaly is of great importance since it is often associated with biliary lithiasis, choledochal cyst, anomalous pancreaticobiliary junction （APBJ） and upper gastrointestinal tract malignancies. We recently recognized a rare case of DCBD associated with APB3 with lithiasis in better developed common bile duct. The opening site of ACBD was in the pancreatic duct. The anomaly was suspected by transabdominal ultrasonography and finally confirmed by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography （ERCP） followed by endoscopic sphincterotomy and stone extraction. According to the literature, the existence of DCBD with the opening of ACBD in the pancreatic duct is most frequently associated with APB3 and gallbladder carcinoma. In case of DCBD, the opening site of ACBD is of greatest clinical importance because of its close implications with concomitant pathology. The adequate diagnosis of this rare anomaly is significant since the operative complications may occur in cases with DCBD which is not recognized prior to surgical treatment.

Right liver lobe/albumin ratio:Contribution to non-invasive assessment of portal hypertension

AIM： To study the value of biochemical and ultrasonographic parameters in prediction of presence and size of esophageal varices.METHODS： The study includes selected cirrhotic patients who underwent a complete biochemical workup, upper digestive endoscopic and ultrasonographic examinations. Albumin/right liver lobe diameter and platelet count/spleen diameter ratios were calculated. The correlation between calculated ratio and the presence and degree of esophageal varices was evaluated.RESULTS： Ninety-four subjects （62 males, 32 females）, with a mean age of 52.32 ± 13.60 years, were studied. Child-Pugh class A accounted for 42.6%, class 13 37.2%, whereas class C 20.2%. Esophageal varices （OE） were not demonstrated by upper digestive endoscopy in 24.5%, while OE grade Iwas found in 22.3% patients, grade Ⅱ in 33.0%, grade m in 16.0%, and grade iv in 4.3%. The mean value of right liver lobe diameter/ albumin ratio was 5.51± 1.82 （range from 2.76 to 11.44）, while the mean platelet count/spleen diameter ratio was 1017.75 ± 729.36 （range from 117.39 to 3362.50）, respectively. Statistically significant correlation was proved by Spearman＇s test between OE grade and calculated ratios. The P values were 0.481 and -0.686, respectively.CONCLUSION： The right liver lobe diameter/albumin and platelet count/spleen diameter ratios are noninvasive parameters providing accurate information pertinent to determination of presence of esophageal varices, and their grading in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Improvement of vIS and IR camouflage properties by impregnating cotton fabric with PvB/IF-WS_(2)

In order to examine the possibility to improve its camouflage properties standard cotton fabric with camouflage print was impregnated with poly(vinyl butyral),PvB and fullerene-like nanoparticles of tungsten disulfide,PvB/IF-WS_(2).FTIR analysis excluded any possible chemical interaction of IF-WS_(2) with PvB and the *** camouflage behavior of the impregnated fabric has been examined firstly in the vIS part of the *** reflection,specular gloss and color coordinates were measured for three different shades(black,brown and dark green).Thermal imaging was applied to examine the camouflage abilities of this impregnation in IR part of the *** obtained results show that PvB/IF-WS_(2) impregnation system induced enhacement of the materials camouflage properties,*** IF-WS_(2) have a positive effect on spectrophotometric characteristics of the fabric.

Effect of Phosphorus and Potassium Foliar Treatment on Seed Yield and Yield Components of Red Clover （ Trifolium pratense L.） Cultivars

Proper mineral nutrition of red clover especially on the acid soils is a prerequisite for the realization of maximum potential for seed yield. The field experiment with four cultivars of red clover were established on soil having a pH （in H2O） of 4.8, in order to in conditions of dense planting （20 cm inter row） analyzes the effect of foliar application of phosphorus and potassium （PK） on yield and yield components （number of stems/m2, number of inflorescences/m2, number of inflorescences/stem, number of flowers/inflorescence, number of seeds/inflorescence and one thousand grain weight）. Regardless of foliar treatment with PK, varieties differed in the number of inflorescences/m2, number of flowers/inflorescence, number of seeds/inflorescence and seed yield. Foliar application of PK in the phase of intensive growth of red clover had a positive impact on number of stem/m2, number of inflorescences/m2 and seed yield in all varieties, as well as on the number of flowers/inflorescence, number of seeds/inflorescence in cultivar viola.
