Axle load data are an essential input for pavement design,yet for most North American agencies,there is uncertainty about the quality of axle load data obtained from weigh-inmotion(WIM)systems,the applicability of these data for pavement design,and potential opportunities to integrate axle load data from disparate *** article presents a novel and practical methodology to evaluate the quality of axle load data from WIM systems and roadside weigh scales through a series of hierarchical analyses designed to test data *** applied using data from Manitoba,Canada,the methodology quantified the uncertainty of axle loads measured at the weigh scales and piezo-quartz WIM,concluding that both could be used for pavement design *** collected at piezo-polymer WIM sites exhibited poorer data validity;however,application of site-specific temperature correction factors significantly improved data validity at these *** article describes how other data quality dimensions,including spatial coverage,temporal coverage,and long-term data availability,could be considered when determining the suitability of disparate axle load data sources for pavement *** of the methodology enables a pragmatic evaluation of the quality and limitations of commonlyavailable axle load data,revealing uncertainties and data needs relevant for pavement design practice.

background:No studies have documented long-term trends in aboveground biomass(AGb)for mixed-dipterocarp forests(MDF),the dominant rain forest type in tropical wet equatorial *** our study,we sought to document such trends over forty years across three sites representing lowland to lower montane ***:To do this,we established fifty 100 m×25 m plots in 1978 across three sites sampled along an elevation gradient,identified as mature old-growth *** measured trees for diameter at breast height that we identified to species and *** took wood samples to calculate species wood-specific *** re-measured plots in 1998 and again in ***:We show standing AGb for all sites combined to be 517.52 Mg·ha^(-1)in 1978,but this declined by 17%over 40 years to 430.11 Mg·ha^(-1).No differences exist among sites in AGb primarily because of considerable within site variation;but interactions of time with site show declines across sites were not uniform,one remained about the *** few species represented a high proportion of the AGb with the top five species comprising between 34%and 65%,depending upon site and year *** species,Mesua nagassarium,represented a disproportionately large amount of AGb and decline over time,particularly at the low elevation ***:Our results are directly relevant to estimating AGb and standing carbon sequestered in *** study is the first to demonstrate varying but overall,declining trends in amounts of AGb among forests making predictions of biomass and standing carbon in MDF difficult over wide regions.

background Wound infection following spinal instrumented surgery is a frequent complication. The optimal treatment of acute deep wound infection following spinal instrumentation fusion remains controversial because of variability in cohort identification, definition of an infection, and the instrument used to measure outcomes. This retrospective study evaluated the clinical curative effect for postoperative spinal infection after instrumented spine fusion with extensive debridement, or implant removal.

Introduction: Acute respiratory infections remain one of the main causes of mortality in children aged 0 to 5. This work aimed to study the associated factors with the occurrence of acute respiratory infections in children 0 to 5 years old in Yénawa, Cotonou in 2023. Subjects and Method: It was an analytical cross-sectional study of children aged 0 - 5 years and their mothers in Yénawa, selected by four-degree random sampling. The sampling size, calculated using the Schwartz formula, was 126 children and 126 mothers. The dependent variable was the occurrence of acute respiratory infections. The independent variables were classified into four groups: socio-demographic and economic characteristics, behavioral factors, child-related factors, and environmental factors. Data collected by observation and questionnaire survey were analyzed using STATA version 15 software. Associated factors were investigated by bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression, at the 5% significance level. Results: A total of 126 children aged 0 - 5 years and 126 mothers were surveyed, aged 23.5 (11 - 36) months and 30 (18 - 48) years respectively. The prevalence of acute respiratory infections was 74.60% (CI95% = 66.89 to 82.30). The associated factors were the mother’s age between 18 and 28 (OR = 10.77;CI95% = 1.89 to 61.27;p = 0.007), the use of charcoal/wood for cooking (OR = 7.36;IC = 1.99 to 27.10;p = 0.003)), children's poor personal hygiene (OR = 8.87;IC = 2.92 to 26.97;p 0.001)), and cohabitation with domestic animals (OR = 7.27;IC = 1.67 to 31.71;p = 0.015). Conclusion: Communicating with mothers about the factors identified will help reduce the prevalence of acute respiratory infections in children aged 0 to 5.

Catalytic Properties of Pt Cluster-Decorated CeO2 Nanostructures

Uniform clusters of Pt have been deposited on the surface of capping-agent-free CeO2 nanooctahedra and nanorods using electron beam （e-beam） evaporation. The coverage of the Pt nanocluster layer can be controlled by adjusting the e-beam evaporation time. The resulting e-beam evaporated Pt nanocluster layers on the CeO2 surfaces have a clean surface and clean interface between Pt and CeO2. Different growth behaviors of Pt on the two types of CeO2 nanocrystals were observed, with epitaxial growth of Pt on CeO2 nanooctahedra and random growth of Pt on CeO2 nanorods. The structures of the Pt clusters on the two different types of CeO2 nanocrystals have been studied and compared by using them as catalysts for model reactions. The results of hydrogenation reactions clearly showed the clean and similar chemical surface of the Pt clusters in both catalysts. The support- dependent activity of these catalysts was demonstrated by CO oxidation. The Pt/CeO2 nanorods showed much higher activity compared with Pt/CeO2 nanooctahedra because of the higher concentration of oxygen vacancies in the CeO2 nanorods. The structure-dependent selectivity of dehydrogenation reactions indicates that the structures of the Pt on CeO2 nanorods and nanooctahedra are different. Thes differences arise because the metal deposition behaviors are modulated by the strong metal-metal oxide interactions.

The transportation sector is one of the major sources of global carbon *** this study,a bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer for articles published in the field of transportation carbon emissions(TCEs)between 1997 and *** this analysis,our research shows that:(a)the number of articles on TCEs has grown rapidly since 2010;(b)China,the United States,and the United Kingdom are important research forces,with the Helmholtz Association of German having the highest number of publications;(c)Transportation Research Part D:Transport and Environment is the most cited journal in this field;(d)the current research hotspots mainly focus on theory and methodological approaches,low-carbon travel,green supply chain management,and carbon emission drivers;(e)while,scenario analysis,data envelopment analysis,and vehicle routing problem are popular keywords that have been used in the research field of TCEs in recent ***,using current research trends,our study also proposes a series of future research endeavors for the field of TCEs.

Sagittal plane analysis of the spine and pelvis in adult idiopathic scoliosis

background There has been an increasing recognition of the importance of sagittal spinopelvic alignment in patients with scoliosis as it relates to clinical outcomes. However, the changes seen in sagittal spinopelvic alignment in adult idiopathic scoliosis patients is poorly defined. This study was conducted to evaluate the sagittal alignment of pelvis and spine in adult idiopathic scoliosis *** The sagittal parameters of the spine and pelvis were analyzed in lateral standing radiographs of 124 patients （mean age 47.4 years） with adult idiopathic scoliosis, including thoracic kyphosis （TK）, thoracolumbar junction kyphosis （TLJ）, lumbar lordosis （LL）, pelvic incidence （PI）, sacrum slope （SS）, pelvic tilt （PT） and C7 plumb line （C7PL）. The patients were divided into three groups according to the age： 20-40 years, 41-64 years, and ≥65 years. The parameters were compared with those in normal adults and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis （AIS） patients. The relationship between all parameters as well as age and sagittal parameters were *** The PI in patients with adult idiopathic scoliosis was 58.1°±13.0°, which was significantly higher than that in normal adults. The PT （19.9°±10.6°） was also higher than that in both normal adults and AIS patients, while the SS （38.1°±12.0°） was similar or smaller. As age increased, C7PL, PT and TJL increased while LL decreased. There was no relationship between age and both PI and TK. PT had the strongest statistical association with the *** PI is higher in adult idiopathic scoliosis than normal subjects. The PT is the most relevant pelvic parameter to the global sagittal alignment of the spine. Age significantly influences sagittal parameters of the spine and pelvis except the PI and TK.
