The wild population of the African lion Panthera leo continues to decline, requiring alternate conservation programs to b. considered. One such program is ex situ reintroduction. Prior to release, longterm monitoring and assessment of b.havior is required to determine whether prides and coalitions b.have naturally and are sufficiently adapted to a wild environment. Social network analysis （SNA） can b. used to provide insight into how the pride as a whole and individuals within it, function. Our study was conducted upon 2 captive-origin prides who are part of an ex situ reintroduction program, and 1 wild pride of African lion. Social interactions were collected at all occurrence for each pride and categorized into greet, social grooming, play, and aggression. b.tweenness centrality showed that offspring in each pride were central to the play network, whereas degree indicated that adults received （indegree） the greatest numb.r of overall social interactions, and the adult males of each pride were least likely to initiate （outdegree） any interactions. Through the assessment of individual centrality and degree values, a social keystone adult female was identified for each pride. Social network results indicated that the 2 captive-origin prides had formed cohesive social units and possessed relationships and b.haviors comparab.e with the wild pride for the studied b.haviors. This study provided the first SNA comparison b.tween captive-b.ed origin and a wild pride of lions, providing valuab.e information on individual and pride sociality, critical for determining the success of prides within an ex situ reintroduction program.

The growth and ordering of {5,10,15,20-tetrakis（4-b.omophenyl）porphyrinato}nickel（II）（NiTb.PP） molecules on the Au（111） surface have b.en investigated using scanning tunnelling microscopy, X-ray ab.orption, core-level photoemission, and microb.am low-energy electron diffraction. When deposited onto the sub.trate at room temperature, the NiTb.PP forms a well-ordered close-packed molecular layer in which the molecules have a flat orientation with the porphyrin macrocycle plane lying parallel to the sub.trate. Annealing of the NiTb.PP layer on the Au（111） surface at 525 K leads to dissociation of b.omine from the porphyrin followed b. the formation of covalent b.nds b.tween the phenyl sub.tituents of the porphyrin. This results in the formation of continuous covalently b.nded porphyrin networks, which are stab.e up to 800 K and can b. recovered after exposure to amb.ent conditions. b. controlling the experimental conditions, a rob.st, extended porphyrin network can b. prepared on the Au（111） surface that has many potential applications such as protective coatings, in sensing or as a host structure for molecules and clusters.

The goal of this paper was to examine promising effects of a b.lingual family literacy program: to track the changes of families’ literacy activities through a b.lingual family literacy intervention, and to examine the children literacy gains in b.th Chinese and English across socioeconomic sub.groups. The intervention was an eight-week, two hours per week, literacy program in three Chinese communities in Toronto. Parents, with their children, participated in the program. The extremely high attendance rate provided evidence that families enjoyed the family literacy intervention and felt that the sessions were worthwhile. For their families’ literacy activities, the three sites followed the same trend: reaching the peak of activity at week four, slightly dropping down at weeks five and six, and then increasing to a second peak at week seven or week eight. Results also showed that across the three groups, children of mothers with lower education levels made fewer gains in their English expressive vocab.laries and their Chinese expressive vocab.laries, than children whose mothers had a higher level of education.

Introduction: CMR has b.come the leading modality to define the clinical impact of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) accurately identifies regions of myocardial fib.osis. It is well known that myocardial fib.osis can occur in patients with HCM and is independently linked to a poorer prognosis than those without fib.osis b. CMR. Hypothesis: We hypothesize that there is significant RV involvement in HCM when incorporates a CMR analysis for RV hypertrophy and fib.osis. Methods: A retrospective review of all patients referred for HCM was performed. SSFP/LGE techniques were used to diagnose patients with HCM, using gadolinium administration (0.15 mmol/kg). Post-injection (10 minutes) LGE images were ob.ained using manual T1-weighted, IR-preparations. Regions of myocardium with LGE signals were visually designated as fib.otic. LV/RV mass indices (LVMI/RVMI) and ejection fractions were calculated. Results: Via 72 patients referred for HCM, 47(65%) were CMR confirmed. The mean LVMI was 108 ± 44 g/m2 while the mean RVMI was 30 ± 21 g/m2. As well, 34/47 (72%) had evidence of LV fib.osis while 24/47 (51%) had evidence for RV fib.osis. Of the RVH positive patients, 26/34 (76%) patients were LV LGE positive and 18/34 (52%) were RV LGE positive. Conclusion: The high frequency of RVH and RV fib.osis in the setting of HCM is surprising in that this phenomenon is rarely describ.d. However, there is no reason to expect the phenotypic expression should b. limited to the LV. Interestingly, as for the LV, the presence or ab.ence of RV fib.osis has little predictive power towards the systolic function.
