Prognostic Value of the Brain CT-Scan in Head Trauma in Yaounde Central Hospital

Introduction: Cranial trauma is a serious medico-surgical pathology that hinders the vital and functional prognosis. The Rotterdam computed tomography (CT) score refined features of the Marshall score. This score was designed to categorize traumatic brain injury (TBI) type and severity in adults. The aim of our research was to evaluate the association between the Rotterdam CT scores of patients after a cranial traumatism in terms of survival. Material and methods: It was a cross-sectional and analytical study from January 2018 to March 2020, using medical records of patients suffering from cranial traumatism, received and taken in charge in the Yaounde central hospital. Results: 100 patients were retained out of 115 recruited patients. The average age was 35.20 with a sex ratio of 4.55. The Rotterdam score was between 1 and 5 with a median of 2. The overall mortality at 6 months and 1 year was 32%. With an equal score compared to European studies, we recorded significantly higher mortality. We found the sequelae in 24% of the patients. GOS ranged from 1 to 5, and survival without sequelae (GOS 1) was the most represented. There was a positive correlation between the Rotterdam score and the GOS with a Pearson correlation coefficient of +0.514. Conclusion: The death rate in Rotterdam score equals is greater in our context compared to European studies.

In this work,we interpreted gravity data to determine the structural characteristics responsible for high-gravity anomalies in Bagodo,North *** anomalies had not previously been characterized through a local ***,we undertook a regional-residual separation of the gravity anomalies by using the polynomial *** signatures of near-surface small-extent geological structures were *** conduct a quantitative interpretation of the gravity anomalies,one profile was drawn on a residual Bouguer anomaly map and then interpreted by spectral analysis,the ideal body solution,and 2.5-dimensional *** results showed that the intrusive body in the Bagodo area consists of two trapezoidal *** first and second blocks have roofs approximately 7.5 and 14 km deep,respectively,whereas their bases are approximately 17 km *** values are in agreement with those obtained by the ideal body solution,which showed two cells with a density contrast of 0.3 g·cm^(−3) in comparison with the surrounding *** density of this body was estimated to be approximately 3 g·cm^(−3).The topography of these rocks showed that they are basaltic rocks that would have cooled in fracture zones as an intrusion.

过去二十多年以来,无线通信容量持续的增长需求已经将较低的射频(Radio Frequency,RF)频谱资源利用殆尽。因此,能够提供极宽带宽的更高频率的无线通信系统近来备受关注。由于频谱资源极其宝贵,因此现在运营商们正在更高的蜂窝频段上搭建新的无线通信系统。最常测试和最近部署的频段是n78(3500 MHz),也被称为5G 3.5 GHz频段或5G C频段。一方面,由于蜂窝频谱的低频段已经被3G和4G网络使用,所以部署处于高频段且具有可用性的n78频段势在必行。另一方面,由于高频率特有的传播特性,n78频段的覆盖范围和通信连接性存在天然的局限性,但通过MIMO等无线技术可以在一定程度上改善这种局限性。为了解决无线系统中的覆盖范围和连接问题,寻找可行的天线结构是关键的一步。通信系统工程师们一直在努力研究低成本、轻量级、低剖面的天线,使其在宽频谱上具有高端性能。这种技术发展趋势使得微带贴片天线设计受到了极大的关注。本论文研究了贴片天线增益及带宽的增强。研究内容主要被分为以下两个部分:第一,设计了一款高增益贴片阵列,克服了微带线不连续性的影响。提出了采用并联馈电网络的单层矩形贴片阵列的设计及实现方法。2x4微带贴片天线阵列采用罗杰斯RT/Duroid 5880作为基材,高度为1.575mm,介电常数为2.2,损耗角正切为0.0009。为了验证模拟结果,制作了贴片天线单元和八单元阵列的实物。测试结果表明,该天线阵列实现了16.2 d B的峰值增益和19°的3 d B波束宽度。分析结果表明,采用该天线阵列可以很大程度上提高天线性能。该天线阵列的10 d B带宽为3400-3520 MHz,适用于n78频段的5G接入点应用。第二,研究和设计了带有改进接地短截线的UWB-MIMO天线。这项研究旨在解决贴片天线的带宽限制问题,并为此设计了一款UWB贴片天线。然后,将所提出的结构用于一个二单元MIMO天线系统并进行性能分析。天线单元可以描述为矩形微带天线的一个变体。设计的天线由两个蚀刻在1.6 mm高的FR4介质基板上几何形状相同的辐射单元组成。介质基板的相对介电常数为4.4。每个贴片单元分别用50Ω的微带线馈电。在尺寸方面,MIMO天线的尺寸缩小为20 mm×32 mm,工作频段为4.4-10.7 GHz。该MIMO系统可用于高速率传输和短程通信设备,例如无线个人局域网。

研究表明,每种非编码RNA(ncRNA)不仅可以通过其靶基因起作用,而且可以彼此相互作用以作用影响于生物学性状,并且这种相互作用更常见。许多研究主要集中在微小RNA(miRNA)和信使RNA(mRNA)相互作用的分析上。本研究中,提出了两个独立的模型来分析和预测lncRNA基因调控关系。第一个模型基于传统支持向量回归(SVR),第二类模型基于深度集成学习。在第一个模型中,使用SVR研究了拟南芥miRNA和长非编码RNA(lncRNA)相互作用,模型可以识别出新的相互作用并分析在胁迫响应下的调节作用。构建并分析了miRNAmRNA,miRNA-lncRNA和miRNA-mRNA-lncRNA的互作网络。我们发现具有低序列号的miRNA,具有高序列号的靶向lncRNA和具有高序列号的miRNA靶向具有低序列号的lncRNA。实验结果表明miRNA-lncRNA之间存在调节关系。使用具有新基因表达机制的SVR预测新RNA靶标,并标注了胁迫响应相关功能。在第二个模型中,我们使用长短期记忆自动编码器(LSTM-AE)在相同的数据集上研究了miRNA-lncRNA序列的相互作用。实验结果表明,方法LSTM-AE比基于SVR的模型具有更好的性能,准确度分别为99.87%和97.13%。这些模型可以准确地预测miRNA-lncRNA相互作用,并为未来基因组研究奠定了基础。将集成学习应用于生物学研究,考虑到RNA序列的多样性,该方法对于异质数据具有较好的效果,为相关研究提供了借鉴作用。

Evidence for the Upwelling of Mafic Bodies into the Upper Crust beneath the N40-50°E Branch of the Pan-African Central Cameroon Shear Zone from Gravity Studies

The existence of mafic bodies at mid crustal level beneath the Pan-African Central Cameroon Shear Zone is still a matter of debate. To provide additional constrains on this issue, the crust of the west region of Cameroon has been investigated using gravity data. Analyses of these data show N40-50°E oriented iso-anomal contours in the Bafoussam area, interpreted as the N40-50°E branch of the Central Cameroon Shear Zone. In addition, spectral analysis and 2.5D gravity modeling reveal intrusions of mafic bodies at depth between 3.2 and 14.2 km under N40-50°E aligned volcanic centers, namely Mt Bambouto and Mt Mbapit. The above observations suggest a structurally controlled emplacement of the mafic bodies. In the light of the recent geophysical data, the interaction between the NE-ward channel flow operating at the bottom of the lithosphere or the asthenosphere upwelling and the Cameroon Shear Zone could better explain the magma upwelling in the upper crust. This result is the novelty of the present work.

Physicochemical Characterisation of Flours from Local Cereals and Powder from Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) Leaves Varieties Cultivated in the Northern-Cameroon in Order to Supplement Infant Flours

The aim of the present study was to investigate on the inventory and determination of the nutritional value of cereals flour and cassava leaves powder in order to analyse their use in the production of infant flour. In this paper, a A survey to identify the cereals used in the preparation of infant porridge in the Northern Cameroon was done by using 447 mothers having children between 06 and 59 months from areas (Gbakoungue, Sassa-Mbersi, Sanguere-Ngal and Kotkong-Wouldata) with high rate on malnourished children. Flour was prepared from the most preponderant cereals and Cassava leaves powder from varieties identified by the Regional Centre of Agricultural Research (CRRA) of Wakwa and local population. Flour and powder samples obtained were subjected to chemical composition analysis. Parameters analysed were crude proteins, total carbohydrates, ash, total fats, total phenols, total tannins, total carotenoids, vitamin C or cyanide. Also Iron, calcium and zinc were determined. The results revealed that white maize (62%) was the main cereal used in the preparation of infant porridge followed respectively by red sorghum, white rice and muskwari. Ten cassava varieties were identified: three (03) by CRRA (TME, 96/1/14 and IRAD 4115) and seven (south, gambada, sweet, Benin, six months, M. glaziovii and grouna) by local population. Amongst cereals flour, those from white maize indicated high protein (10.09%), carbohydrates (84.46%) and total fat (7.46%) contents. The powder from 96/14/14 cassava variety showed high amount of iron (11.98 mg/100g), calcium (751.02 g/100g) and low cyanide content (1.21 ppm) amongst all the cassava leaves powder samples. The supplementation of white maize flour by cassava leaves powder from 96/14/14 variety could therefore be recommended for the preparation of infant flours.

Characteristics of Gold and Its Mineralization Style in the Boulon Djounga Eastern Perimeter of Liptako Mining Company (Central Southwestern Niger)

The Boulon Djounga eastern perimeter is part of the Tiawa operating permit of the Société des Mines du Liptako (SML), located in the central southwestern part of Liptako (Niger). In this study, we used field data, Reverse Circulation (RC) surveys and chemical analyzes of gold to determine the characteristics of gold and its mineralization style. The eastern perimeter of Boulon Djounga is represented by a succession of metabasalts and metasediments both intersected by intrusions of quartz and dolerite dykes, and covered by sandstone and clayey rocks. Gold is present in low contents (0.00 - 0.30 ppm) in the sedimentary cover and in medium (0.30 - 1.00 ppm) or high contents (1.00 - 4.534 ppm) in the metasediments, and in the gray quartz veins and locally in the volcanics. It exists in a disseminated state or in a concentrated state in the surrounding areas in the form of discrete grains associated with sulphurous minerals (pyrite: FeS2, chalcopyrite: CuFeS2 or arsenopyrite: FeAsS). The presence of gold in the quartz veins, and the NE-SW and NW-SE orientations of the ore bodies suggest that the eastern Boulon Djounga gold mineralization would be established during a late magmatic extensive phase.

Impact of Cooking Time on the Physicochemical and Nutritional Properties of Macrotermes subhyalinus and Imbrasia obscura

Insects are considered as an important source of essential nutrients because of their nutritional value which in turn is related to proteins, lipids, and mineral elements. In order to optimise the nutritional quality of insects, there is a need to identify processing and cooking methods that will result in higher retention of quality nutrients. Several researchers have investigated the effect of cooking methods on the nutritional quality of edible insects. The effect of cooking time on physico-chemical and nutritional parameters of Macrotermes subhyalinus Rambur and Imbrasia obscura Butler was evaluated in this study. M. subhyalinus échantillons were fried and grilled at a temperature of 150°C at intervals of 3, 6, 9, and 12 minutes. I. obscura was initially boiled at 93.4°C for 6, 9, 12, and 15 minutes. Then, I. obscura which had been boiled for six minutes at 93.4°C was fried for 3, 6, 9, and 12 minutes, respectively, at 150°C. The analysis used the pre-levered samples from those various times. The results obtained for M. subhyalinus and I. obscura respectively demonstrate that these two insects comprise primarily proteins (36.83 and 59.04 g/100g DM), lipids (54.24 and 18.67 g/100g DM), and total mineral content (5.87 and 7.82 g/100g DM). With increased cooking time, physical-chemical and nutritional indicators decreased significantly (p 0.05). When the insects were fried and toasted, the total mineral content increased, but only the lipids increased considerably (p 0.05). Fry for 3 to 6 minutes and toast for 3 to 6 minutes are treatments for M. subhyalinus that better conserve nutrients. To preserve the nutritional value, scalding I. obscura for 6 minutes and combining it with frying it for 3 minutes are highly advised.

Subsurface Structural Mapping Using Combined Terrestrial and Grace Gravity Data of the Adamawa Plateau (North-Cameroon)

In order to analyze and determine the geological structures of the Adamawa plateau, the terrestrial gravity data were combined to data computed from GGM02C gravity model. The dense gravity net obtained were further introduced into qualitative and quantitative interpretations. The resulting Bouguer anomaly map obtained from combined data shows NE-SW direction which nearly coincides with the main direction of the fractures affecting the basement in the region and indicates strong gradients marking the presence of discontinuities between heavy and negative gravity anomaly. In order to conduct the quantitative interpretation of the combined gravity data, three profiles were drawn on the residual Bouguer anomaly map and therefore were interpreted using spectral analysis method and 3D density inversion. The knowledge of the depth and density of the geological structures show an uplift of dense rocks under the granite-gneiss substratum. This dense material found in the ENE-WSW direction of the Adamawa Plateau is interpreted as basaltic intrusion probably resulting from tectonic processes. According to this study, the depths of 3.83 km and 9.62 km are the new values of depths obtained for futures investigations in the Adamawa plateau.
