BAc.GROUND Type 2 diabetes is a c.ronic.non-c.mmunic.ble disease with a substantial global impac.,affec.ing a signific.nt number of *** etiology is c.osely tied to imbalanc.d dietary prac.ic.s and sedentary ***,inc.easing die-tary fiber(DF)intake has c.nsistently demonstrated health benefits in numerous studies,inc.uding improvements in glyc.mic.c.ntrol and weight *** To investigate the effic.c. of DF interventions in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS A systematic.literature review was c.nduc.ed to explore the assoc.ation between DF intake and the management of *** the inc.usion and exc.usion c.iteria,a total of 26 studies were inc.uded in this *** The main strategies implied to inc.eased DF intake were:High DF diet plus ac.rbose(2 studies);DF supplements(14 studies);and high DF diets(10 studies).Overall,most studies indic.ted that inc.eased DF intake resulted in im-provements in glyc.mic.c.ntrol and weight management in T2DM *** DF represents a valuable strategy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes,improving health *** intake offers the potential to improve quality of life and reduc. c.mplic.tions and mortality assoc.ated with ***,through supplements or enric.ed foods,DF c.ntributes signific.ntly to the c.ntrol of several markers suc. as HbA1c.blood gluc.se,triglyc.rides,low-density lipoprotein,and body weight.

Bats are the sec.nd-most diverse group of mammals in the world,and bat flies are their main ***,signific.nt knowledge gaps remain regarding these antagonistic.interac.ions,espec.ally sinc. diverse fac.ors suc. as seasonality and host sex c.n affec. their network ***,we explore the influenc. of suc. fac.ors by c.mparing spec.es ric.ness and c.mposition of bat flies on host bats,as well as spec.alization and modularity of bat–bat fly interac.ion networks between seasons and adult host *** c.ptured bats and c.llec.ed their ec.oparasitic.flies at 10 sampling sites in the savannahs of AmapáState,northeastern region of the Brazilian *** female bats being more parasitized and rec.rding greater bat fly spec.es ric.ness in the wet season,neither relationship was statistic.lly *** pooled network c.uld be divided into 15 c.mpartments with 54 links,and all subnetworks c.mprised>12 *** total number of links ranged from 27 to 48(for the dry and wet seasons,respec.ively),and female and male subnetworks had 44 and 41 links,*** values were very low for the pooled network and for all *** results revealed higher bat fly spec.es ric.ness and abundanc. in the wet season,whereas spec.alization and modularity were higher in the dry ***,the subnetwork for female bats displayed higher spec.alization and modularity than the male ***,both seasonality and host sex c.ntribute in different ways to bat–bat fly network *** studies should c.nsider these fac.ors when evaluating bat–bat fly interac.ion networks.

Yala swamp wetland is the largest fresh water wetland ec.system in Kenya supporting a broad biodiversity. It c.mprises of River Yala, the Yala swamp, Lakes Kanyaboli, Namboyo and Sare, and a portion of Lake Vic.oria neighboring the swamp. Approximately 2300 ha of land have been rec.aimed and has been used for large-sc.le agric.lture resulting in mass destruc.ion of papyrus to c.eate room for framing. Papyrus are known to be important in phytoremediation but despite this role information is limited, lac.s supportive evidenc. and the empiric.l aspec. on the levels of these pollutants in relation to the papyrus biomass is limited. The study is aimed at determining the effec.s of c.perus papyrus on the water and sediment quality in Yala Swamp wetland. Six sampling sites were purposefully selec.ed to monitor the variations of the physic.c.emic.l parameters (temperature, dissolved oxygen: DO, pH, biologic.l oxygen demand: BOD, total suspended solids: TSS, turbidity, elec.ric.l c.nduc.ivity: Ec.and total dissolved solids: TSS) and the levels selec.ed nutrients (phosphorus and nitrates) in water and sediments as River Yala flows through Dominion Farms, Lake Sare whic. surrounded by c.perus papyrus and finally into Lake Vic.oria. The samples were c.llec.ed in triplic.tes during the wet and dry seasons (May and September 2015 respec.ively). The physic.c.emic.l parameters were measured in situ using a Hydrolab muiltimeter while the nutrients were analyzed using UV/Vis spec.rosc.py. Statistic.l analysis was done using SAS V9.0 software. The mean temperature was 26.19˚c.± 0.71˚c. DO: 3.72 ± 1.02 Mg/l, BOD: 3.9 ± 0.32 Mg/l, pH: 7.52 ± 0.17, TDS: 109 ± 86.33, Ec. 173.26 ± 13.8 μS/c., TSS: 12.42 ± 18.51 Mg/l and Turbidity: 12.29 ± 10.03 NTU. The values varied signific.ntly at P 0.05 among all the sites. The results show that papyrus is useful in maintaining the required levels of physic.c.emic.l parameters. The study will assist in c.nservation of the papyrus to help phytoremediate
