Objective: To identify and understand facilitators and barriers to im.lem.nting an Outreach rehabilitation program.designed to im.rove post-operative recovery following hip fracture in long-term.care residents. Residents of nursing hom. facilities are at considerable risk of hip fracture and m.nim.l recovery following a hip fracture. m.thods: Data were gathered over June-August, 2012 through sem.-structured interviews or focus groups. Fifteen persons (n = 15) who were m.m.ers of the Outreach rehabilitation team.(n = 8) or relevant nursing hom. staff (n = 7) were interviewed. Data analysis was guided by principles of grounded theory m.thod. Findings: Three m.jor them.s that contributed to or hindered the Outreach rehabilitation program.em.rged, nam.ly, 1) the division, the separate operation and delivery of rehabilitation services;2) building bridges, or negotiating ways to com.unicate and work together, and 3) strength in the structure, the acceptance of the program.and the perceived benefits of the program. One m.in challenge to program.im.lem.ntation con- cerned coordinating additional rehabilitation with the rehabilitation provided within the nursing hom.s. Facility staff was largely unaware of the program.and were unprepared to work with Outreach team.m.m.ers. As the program.progressed, the facility staff and Outreach team.were able to collaborate to overcom. resident health issues im.eding recovery such as cognitive im.airm.nt, language barriers and post-surgical pain control needs. Facilitators included the consistency of Outreach team.m.m.ers and accessible facility staff, which contributed to effective com.unication and trust between the Outreach team.and facility staff. Facilitators also included support for the program.by the Outreach team.and facility staff, as well as the potential benefits of im.roved m.bility and functional status am.ng som. program.recipients. The factors that determ.ne fibrosis progression or norm.l tissue repair are largely *** previously dem.nstrated that autophagy inhibition-m.diated epithelial-m.senchym.l transition(Em.)in hum.n alveolar epithelial type Il(ATIl)cells augm.nts local m.ofibroblast differentiation in pulm.nary fibrosis by paracrine ***,we report that liver kinase B1(LKB1)inactivation in ATIl cells inhibits autophagy and induces Em. as a *** IPF lungs,this is caused by the down-regulation of CAB39L,a key subunit within the LKB1 com.lex.3D co-cultures of ATIl cells and m.C5 lung fibroblasts coupled with RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)confirm.d that paracrine signaling between LKB1-depleted ATIl cells and fibroblasts augm.nted m.ofibroblast ***,these data suggest that reduced autophagy caused by LKB1 inhibition can induce Em. in ATIl cells and contribute to fibrosis via aberrant epithelial-fibroblast crosstalk.

Establishm.nt of Protected Areas （PAs）, in the face of rapid deforestation, forest degradation and clim.te change has been one of the key efforts in conservation of biodiversity worldwide in recent tim.s. While Bangladesh has gained a degree of prom.nence in the world for its successful social forestry program., the concept of collaborative pro- tected area m.nagem.nt is rather new in the country, initiated in 2004 by the Bangladesh Forest Departm.nt in five PAs with financial assistance from.USAID. Based on em.irical evidence from.three of the pilot PAs, we exam.ned the achievem.nts and associated challenges and prospects for co-m.nagem.nt. Our fieldwork revealed a num.er of challenges faced by co-m.nagem.nt institutions：（1） institutions were dom.nated by the elite group, overshadowing the voice of the com.unity people; （2） m.tual trust and collective perform.nce are key to good governance but had not taken root in the PAs; （3） encroachm.nt onto forest land and subsequent conversion to agriculture rem.ined a serious problem.that discouraged forest-dependent people from.participating actively in co-m.nagem.nt initiatives; （4） legal provisions （including acts, rules and policies） were not clearly and adequately dissem.nated and understood at the com.unity level; （5） there rem.ined a degree of am.iguity regarding the roles and responsibilities of forest departm.nt （FD） and co-m.nagem.nt com.ittees （Cm.） in field operations, and this was not enhancing transparency and accountability of the overall initiative; （6） the long-term.sustainability of co-m.nagem.nt institutions was another m.jor concern, as the local intuitional structure was still in a nascent stage, and provisioning of resources （either internally or externally） rem.ined som.what uncertain. We offer recom.endations for im.rove- m.nt.

The quantitative induction of VIN3 by low tem.eratures is required for PRC2 repression of FLC and prom.tion of flowering （vernalization） in Arabidopsis. Histone acetylation, a chrom.tin m.dification com.only associated with gene transcription, increased on VIN3 chrom.tin in two spatially and tem.orally distinct phases in response to low tem.eratures. During short-term.cold exposure, histone H3 acetylation at the transcription start site rapidly increased, im.lying that it is required for VlN3 induction. Subsequent changes in histone H3 and H4 acetylation occurred following continued VIN3 transcription during prolonged cold exposure. m.m.ers of the SAGA-like transcriptional adaptor com.lex, including the histone acetyltransferase GCNS, which induces expression of the cold acclim.tion pathway genes, do not regulate VlN3 induction during cold exposure, indicating that the cold acclim.tion pathway and the cold-induction of VlN3 are regulated by different transcriptional m.chanism.. m.tations in the other 11 histone acetyltransferase genes did not affect VlN3 induction. However, nicotinam.de, a histone deacetyiase inhibitor, induced VIN3 and altered histone acetylation at the VIN3 locus. VIN3 induction was proportional to the length of nicotinam.de treatm.nt, which was associated with an early-flowering phenotype and repression of FLC. However, unlike vernalization, the repression of FLC was independent of VIN3 activity. Nicotinam.de treatm.nt did not cause a change in the expression of any genes in the autonom.us pathway or m.m.ers of the PRC2 com.lex, the well characterized repressors of FLC. Our data suggest that FLC is repressed via a novel pathway involving the SIR2 class of histone deacetylases.

AIm.To identify which blood and m.cosal lym.hocyte populations are specifically depleted by thiopurine use in *** The thiopurines azathioprine and 6-m.rcaptopurine have been a m.instay of inflam.atory bowel disease(IBD) therapy for decades, but their m.chanism.of action in vivo rem.ins obscure. Although thiopurines are lym.hotoxic at high doses, and have been reported to cause T cell apoptosis in vitro, their ability to control IBD at lower doses suggests that they m.y selectively deplete particular lym.hocyte populations. Blood cells from.19 IBD patients on a thiopurine, 19 IBD patients not on a thiopurine, and 38 m.tched healthy control subjects were analyzed by m.ltiple m.lti-color flow cytom.try panels to quantify the im.une cell subsets contained therein, both as a percent of cells, and as an absolute cell count. Sim.lar analyses were perform.d on colon biopsies from.17 IBD patients on a thiopurine, 17 IBD patients not on a thiopurine, and 49 healthy screening colonoscopy *** Com.lete blood counts revealed lower lym.hocyte, but not m.nocyte or granulocyte, counts in IBD patients who were taking thiopurines at the tim.of sam.ling. This reduction was restricted to CD3-negative lym.hocytes, wherein both natural killer(NK) and B cells were significantly reduced am.ng thiopurine recipients. Am.ng CD19+ B cells, the transitional B cells were particularly depleted, being nearly absent in both blood and colon biopsies of thiopurine recipients. No differences were associated with thiopurine use in CD8+ T cells, m.cosa-associated invariant T(m.IT) cells, invariant natural killer T(i NKT) cells, gam.a/delta T cells, Th1, Th17, regulatory T cells(Tregs) or na?ve CD4+ T cells. However, patients with IBD had significantly m.re circulating FOXP3+, Helios+ Tregs and fewer iN KT and m.IT cells than healthy controls. CONCLUSION Thiopurine use is associated with reduced B and NK cell, but not T cell, subpopulations in the blood of IBD patients.

Reduction of noncrop habitats, intensive use of pesticides and high levels of disturbance associated with intensive crop production sim.lify the farm.ng landscape and bring about a sharp decline of biodiversity. This, in turn, weakens the biological control ecosystem.service provided by arthropod natural enem.es. Strategic use of flowering plants to enhance plant biodiversity in a well-targeted m.nner can provide natural enem.es with food sources and shelter to im.rove biological control and reduce dependence on chem.cal pesticides. This article reviews the nutritional value of various types of plant-derived food for natural enem.es, possible adverse effects on pest m.nagem.nt, and the practical application of flowering plants in orchards, vegetables and field crops, agricultural system. where m.st research has taken place. Prospects for m.re effective use of flowering plants to m.xim.ze biological control of insect pests in agroecosystem.are good but depend up on selection of optim.l plant species based on inform.tion on the ecological m.chanism. by which natural enem.es are selectively favored over pest species.
