2D finite element models were developed to analyze the effect of improved soft-soil foundation on the efficiency of a base-isolated concrete frame. Static and dynamic analyses were performed for a frame on raft foundation. Non-improved and improved soft-soil foundation using rigid inclusions were considered, as well as the use of high damping rubber bearing as base isolation. Results show that the use of rigid inclusions increases the efficiency of base isolation; base shear is reduced by 38% and maximum acceleration at the top of the frame by 30%.

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to look at the problem of fault tolerant control(FTC)for discrete time nonlinear system described by Interval Type-2 Takagi–Sugeno(IT2 TS)fuzzy model subjected to stochastic noise and actuator ***/methodology/approach–An IT2 fuzzy augmented state observer is first developed to estimate simultaneously the system states and the actuator faults since this estimation is required for the design of the FTC control ***,based on the information of the states and the faults estimate,an IT2 fuzzy state feedback controller is conceived to compensate for the faults effect and to ensure a good tracking performance between the healthy system and the faulty *** conditions for the existence of the IT2 fuzzy controller and the IT2 fuzzy observer are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities which can be solved using a two-step computing ***–The paper opted for simulation results which are applied to the three-tank *** results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed FTC ***/value–In this paper,the problem of active FTC design for noisy and faulty nonlinear system represented by IT2 TS fuzzy model is *** developed IT2 fuzzy fault tolerant controller is designed such that it can guarantee the stability of the closed-loop ***,the proposed controller allows to accommodate for faults,presents a satisfactory state tracking performance and outperforms the traditional type-1 fuzzy fault tolerant controller.

Objectives:Pressure ulcer(PU)is one of the most common problem among the bedridden elderly and has significantly more burden on elderly and *** study is aimed to evaluate the effects of the training program for caregivers to prevent PUs among elderly residents at geriatric ***:A quasi-experimental design was used to carry out the current study.A purposive sample comprised of all formal(39 nurses)or informal caregivers(39)and all immobilized elderly residents(35)who are found in all geriatric centers in Helwan district.A structured questionnaire was used to assess caregivers’socio-demographic characteristics,knowledge,attitude,and observational checklists for their practice for prevention of PU at pre-and posttest and during ***:After the training program,there were improvements in the level of knowledge,practice,and positive attitude of caregivers about PU prevention with a statistically significant difference between pre-,post-,and follow-up training programs(P<0.001).Conclusions:The study revealed that the training program seemed to change the knowledge,practice,and attitude of the subjects to PU ***,in turn,implies that adequate knowledge affects directly the elderly caregivers’attitudes as well as practice for prevention could be important in reducing the burden of PU among the ***,conducting a training program for caregivers at different geriatric homes about caring skills for elders can prevent PU,and using spontaneous reposition is very effective to prevent PUs.

Organ preservation and ischemia reperfusion injury as- sociated with liver transplantation play an important role in the induction of graft injury. One of the earliest events associated with the reperfusion injury is en- dothelial cell dysfunction. It is generally accepted that endothelial nitric oxide synthase (e-NOS) is cell-pro- tective by mediating vasodilatation, whereas inducible nitric oxide synthase mediates liver graft injury after transplantation. We conducted a critical review of the literature evaluating the potential applications of regu- lating and promoting e-NOS activity in liver preservation and transplantation, showing the most current evidenceto support the concept that enhanced bioavailability of NO derived from e-NOS is detrimental to ameliorate graft liver preservation, as well as preventing subse- quent graft reperfusion injury. This review deals mainly with the beneficial effects of promoting "endogenous" pathways for NO generation, via e-NOS inducer drugs in cold preservation solution, surgical strategies such as ischemic preconditioning, and alternative "exogenous" pathways that focus on the enrichment of cold storage liquid with NO donors. Finally, we also provide a basic bench-to-bed side summary of the liver physiology and cell signalling mechanisms that account for explaining the e-NOS protective effects in liver preservation and transplantation. ? 2011 Baishideng. In Egypt irrigation water is becoming more scarce with the continuously increasing demand for agriculture, domestic and industrial purposes. To face this increasing irrigation demand, the available water supply in Egypt is supplemented by the reuse of agricultural drainage water as in El-Salam Canal that do not satisfy water quality standards defined for the canal. This paper introduces an automation system for El-Salam Canal to control the flow of the fresh water and drainage water supplied to the canal. This automatic control system (ACS) is able to process data of various flows and water quality data along the canal. This control system is represented by a canal computer model. This system computes the required control actions at the Damietta branch and the feeding drains. It is also able to generate optimum solutions for the canal to satisfy the pre-defined canal conditions and standards.

Functions are a means to link or transport from a world to another world may be similarly or completely different from the other world. In this paper we addressed the issue of rough functions and the possibility of transfer it from the real line to the topological abstract view that can be applied to intelligent information systems. The rough function approach has not been studied much specially from a topological point of view. Here we developed a new type of topological generalizations of rough functions with reference to how it is used in medical applications. Considering that the function is in the original a relation can be based on a review of all circular functions from the perspective of relations. Accordingly, the dream that the generalizations of rough functions are transferred to all papers prior to a comprehensive computer application.
