Predicting carbon storage of mixed broadleaf forests based on the finite mixture model incorporating stand factors,site quality,and aridity index

The diameter distribution function(DDF)is a crucial tool for accurately predicting stand carbon storage(CS).The current key issue,however,is how to construct a high-precision DDF based on stand factors,site quality,and aridity index to predict stand CS in multi-species mixed forests with complex structures.This study used data from70 survey plots for mixed broadleaf Populus davidiana and Betula platyphylla forests in the Mulan Rangeland State Forest,Hebei Province,China,to construct the DDF based on maximum likelihood estimation and finite mixture model(FMM).Ordinary least squares(OLS),linear seemingly unrelated regression(LSUR),and back propagation neural network(BPNN)were used to investigate the influences of stand factors,site quality,and aridity index on the shape and scale parameters of DDF and predicted stand CS of mixed broadleaf forests.The results showed that FMM accurately described the stand-level diameter distribution of the mixed P.davidiana and B.platyphylla forests;whereas the Weibull function constructed by MLE was more accurate in describing species-level diameter distribution.The combined variable of quadratic mean diameter(Dq),stand basal area(BA),and site quality improved the accuracy of the shape parameter models of FMM;the combined variable of Dq,BA,and De Martonne aridity index improved the accuracy of the scale parameter models.Compared to OLS and LSUR,the BPNN had higher accuracy in the re-parameterization process of FMM.OLS,LSUR,and BPNN overestimated the CS of P.davidiana but underestimated the CS of B.platyphylla in the large diameter classes(DBH≥18 cm).BPNN accurately estimated stand-and species-level CS,but it was more suitable for estimating stand-level CS compared to species-level CS,thereby providing a scientific basis for the optimization of stand structure and assessment of carbon sequestration capacity in mixed broadleaf forests.

Optimizing piezoelectric performance of complex perovskite through increasing diversity of B-site cations

Piezoelectric materials with unique properties are hugely appealing for high sensitivity sensors and ultrasonic transducers.Here,Pb(Ni_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-Pb(Yb_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_(3)-PbTiO_(3)piezoelectric system was designed and investigated in detail.The optimized piezoelectric response(d_(33)=826 pC/N,d_(33)∗=1017 pm/V)together with good temperature stability and negligible performance degradation up to 10^(6) cycles was achieved in 0.58PNN-0.10PYN-0.32PT composition.Rayleigh analysis revealed the amplification of intrinsic and extrinsic contributions in MPB region due to more spontaneous polarization orientations and an increase in chemical disorder of system after the introduction of PYN.The origin of high piezoelectric response was investigated through the combination of scanning electron microscopy and piezoresponse force microscopy.The diversity of B-site cations was shown to enhance local structural heterogeneity,weaken long-range ferroelectric ordered domains,and lower free energy barrier via the formation of nanodomain configuration that promoted polarization rotation,thereby improving piezoelectric properties of the material.Therefore,it is suggested that increasing the diversity of B-site cations is an effective strategy for achieving outstanding piezoelectric performance.

Ancient dormant virus remnant ERVW-1 drives ferroptosis via degradation of GPX4 and SLC3A2 in schizophrenia

Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs)are remnants of retroviral infections in human germline cells from millions of years ago.Among these,ERVW-1(also known as HERV-W-ENV,ERVWE1,or ENVW)encodes the envelope protein of the HERV-W family,which contributes to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.Additionally,neuropathological studies have revealed cell death and disruption of iron homeostasis in the brains of individuals with schizophrenia.Here,our bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed genes in the human prefrontal cortex RNA microarray dataset(GSE53987)were mainly related to ferroptosis and its associated pathways.Clinical data demonstrated significantly lower expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes,particularly Glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and solute carrier family 3 member 2(SLC3A2),in schizophrenia patients compared to normal controls.Further in-depth analyses revealed a significant negative correlation between ERVW-1 expression and the levels of GPX4/SLC3A2 in schizophrenia.Studies indicated that ERVW-1 increased iron levels,malondialdehyde(MDA),and transferrin receptor protein 1(TFR1)expression while decreasing glutathione(GSH)levels and triggering the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential,suggesting that ERVW-1 can induce ferroptosis.Ongoing research has shown that ERVW-1 reduced the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2 by inhibiting their promoter activities.Moreover,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),the ferroptosis inhibitor,reversed the iron accumulation and mitochondrial membrane potential loss,as well as restored the expressions of ferroptosis markers GSH,MDA,and TFR1 induced by ERVW-1.In conclusion,ERVW-1 could promote ferroptosis by downregulating the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2,revealing a novel mechanism by which ERVW-1 contributes to neuronal cell death in schizophrenia.

Self-cleaning SERS sensor based on flexible Ni_(3)S_(2)/MoS_(2)@Ag@PDMS composites for label-free multiplex volatile organic compounds detection

Flexible self-cleaning surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)sensors are highly desirable for the detection of various environmental pollutants,including volatile organic compounds(VOCs).However,achieving sensitive detection without labeling and ensuring efficient cyclic use remain significant challenges.Herein,we introduce a direct approach to create a versatile Ni_(3)S_(2)/MoS_(2)@Ag@PDMS(PDMS=polydimethylsiloxane)composite SERS substrate using chemical vapor deposition technology.The produced substrate shows outstanding performance,offering extremely low detection sensitivity(1.0×10^(−12)M 4-aminobenzenethiol)and high enhancement factors(approximately 107).The interactions between the rod-shaped Ni_(3)S_(2)/MoS_(2)@Ag heterostructure and the molecules facilitate the transfer of charge,resulting in an increased electric field enhancement of the exciton resonance.This has the dual benefit of providing a self-cleaning effect and enhancing SERS efficiency.Importantly,the substrate enables sensitive detection of VOCs gas molecules without the need for labels,achieving a minimum detectable concentration as low as 1 ppm for o-dichlorobenzene,due to the preconcentration effect of PDMS.Theoretical calculations further explain the combined effect of electromagnetic and chemical enhancement in this composite substrate.By utilizing the developed visual SERS barcode,quick multiple detection and analysis of mixtures can be accomplished.This flexible and versatile SERS technique has significant potential for on-site detection and analysis of environmental pollutants,opening the doors for the development of a wearable in-situ SERS sensing platform.

Two-dimensional(2D)materials have attracted tremendous interest in view of the outstanding optoelectronic properties,showing new possibilities for future photovoltaic devices toward high performance,high specific power and flexibility.In recent years,substantial works have focused on 2D photovoltaic devices,and great progress has been achieved.Here,we present the review of recent advances in 2D photovoltaic devices,focusing on 2D-material-based Schottky junctions,homojunctions,2D−2D heterojunctions,2D−3D heterojunctions,and bulk photovoltaic effect devices.Furthermore,advanced strategies for improving the photovoltaic performances are demonstrated in detail.Finally,conclusions and outlooks are delivered,providing a guideline for the further development of 2D photovoltaic devices.

司法实务中对非法经营罪中的证券业务存在宽泛解读的倾向。要厘清非法经营罪中证券业务的内涵与外延,关键在于:一是将证券业务型非法经营罪的法益内容明确化,在遵循形式判断的基础上,进一步借助实质判断来进行限定;二是在双重违法性的判断中以刑事违法为核心来展开,重视刑法对于行政违法判断的制约与限定。在考察是否属于非法经营罪所规制的证券业务时,需要把握四个要点:相应业务有无采取或变相采取证券化的方式,是否属于涉众型的证券业务,是否属于核心的证券业务,以及上下游行为是否构成其他证券犯罪。从出罪的角度而言,以下情形不能成立证券业务型非法经营罪:为未采取证券形式的P2P借贷提供信息中介服务的;为非上市公司的股权买卖提供中介服务,不能同时满足将股份拆细、以股票的形式与向不特定公众出售的要件的;从事证券投资咨询与财务顾问等非核心领域的证券业务的;上下游环节的相关主体从事的是合法证券业务的。

私权模式的法律救济机制适配于对传统言语暴力的处理。网络暴力不应定位为个体之间的侵害,而应解读为社会系统性力量对个体施加的权利侵害,这使得网络暴力表现出不同于传统言语暴力的特性。私权模式的法律救济机制已然丧失现实基础,与网络暴力的治理需要之间存在脱节的问题。有必要在以“国家—社会—个人”三元结构为基础的法律体系中来考虑对网络暴力的应对。个人在面临社会性压制时仰赖公权力的保护,故而网络暴力涉及的是国家的积极保护义务。需要采取以公力救济为主导的法律机制,适用以事前规制为中心的风险规制法模式,并适度扩张刑法的介入范围。在刑法领域,立法层面需要考虑出台反网络暴力的领域法,并对侮辱罪、诽谤罪的刑法规定做出修正,司法层面需要采取功能主义立场,并将这种立场贯彻于具体的法教义学问题之中。

将刑事政策与刑法体系相贯通,开启了刑法体系功能化的发展趋势。这种功能化的趋势意在强化刑法体系的应变性,同时不至于弱化自主性的面向。在这样的体系构想中,需要重新审视立法与司法之间的关系。传统的理论模式将立法与司法之间理解为“命令—服从”的等级关系,这种模式导致立法主导型的刑法体系,并相应采取形式解释论的立场。从我国近二十多年来刑法立法修正的情况与实质解释论的兴起来看,立法主导型的刑法体系与当代的现实状况不相契合。有必要按“边缘—中心”的模式来理解立法与司法的关系,并构建一种司法中心型的刑法体系。司法层面通过刑法解释的过程,一方面与立法协作来促进与实现体系的应变性,另一方面完成对立法进行制约的任务,立法论因而成为刑法体系的有机组成部分。有必要从观念上改变对刑法适用的传统理解,刑法适用中必然包含刑法解释的环节;在新的解读模式下,需要对刑法解释的角色进行重新定位。功能主义的刑法解释有助于刑法体系内部构建一种反思性的自我发展机制,并使之具备自我纠正的能力,体现法教义学所蕴含的批判性维度;与此同时,由于刑法解释不能超越法条的文义,并受制于立法的整体结构安排,故应肯定立法论批判的现实意义。

PointNetV3: feature extraction with position encoding

Feature extraction of point clouds is a fundamental component of three-dimensional(3D) vision tasks. While existing feature extraction networks primarily focus on enhancing the geometric perception abilities of networks and overlook the crucial role played by coordinates. For instance, though two airplane wings share the same shape, it demands distinct feature representations due to their differing positions. In this paper, we introduce a novel module called position aware module(PAM) to leverage the coordinate features of points for positional encoding, and integrating this encoding into the feature extraction network to provide essential positional context. Furthermore, we embed PAM into the Point Net++ framework, and design a novel feature extraction network, named Point Net V3. To validate the effectiveness of Point Net V3, we conducted comprehensive experiments including classification, object tracking and object detection on point cloud. The results of remarkable improvement in three tasks demonstrate the exceptional performance achieved by Point Net V3 in point cloud processing.
