Numerical simulations for radon migration and exhalation behavior during measuring radon exhalation rate with closed-loop method

Accurate measurements of the radon exhalation rate help identify and evaluate radon risk regions in the *** these measurement methods,the closed-loop method is frequently ***,traditional experiments are insufficient or cannot analyze the radon migration and exhalation patterns at the gas–solid interface in the accumulation *** CFD-based technique was applied to predict the radon concentration distribution in a limited space,allowing radon accumulation and exhalation inside the chamber intuitively and *** this study,three radon exhalation rates were defined,and two structural ventilation tubes were designed for the *** consistency of the simulated results with the variation in the radon exhalation rate in a previous experiment or analytical solution was *** effects of the vent tube structure and flow rate on the radon uniformity in the chamber;permeability,insertion depth,and flow rate on the radon exhalation rate and the effective diffusion coefficient on back-diffusion were *** on the results,increasing the inser-tion depth from 1 to 5 cm decreased the effective decay constant by 19.55%,whereas the curve-fitted radon exhalation rate decreased(lower than the initial value)as the deviation from the initial value increased by approximately 7%.Increasing the effective diffusion coefficient from 2.77×10^(-7) to 7.77×10^(-6) m^(2) s^(-1) made the deviation expand from 2.14 to 15.96%.The conclusion is that an increased insertion depth helps reduce leakage in the chamber,subject to notable back-diffusion,and that the closed-loop method is reasonably used for porous media with a low effective diffusion coefficient in view of the back-diffusion *** CFD-based simulation is expected to provide guidance for the optimization of the radon exhalation rate measurement method and,thus,the accurate measurement of the radon exhalation rate.

Lithium-ion batteries are used in a wide range of ***,their cycle life suffers from the problem of capacity fade,which includes calendar and cycle *** effects of storage time,temperature and partial charge-discharge cycling on the capacity fade of Li-ion batteries are investigated in this *** calendar aging and cycle aging are presented based on the storage and cycling experiment on LiCoO_(2)/graphite cells under different storage temperature and different ranges of state of charge(SOC).Based on the measurement data,a one-component and a double-component aging model are presented to respectively describe the capacity fade caused by calendar and cycle *** calendar aging of LiCoO_(2)/graphite batteries is mainly affected by temperature and SOC during the *** SOC and change in SOC(ΔSOC)are the main factors affecting battery degradation during cycling operation.

Edge computing platforms enable application developers and content providers to provide context-aware services(such as service recommendations)using real-time wireless access network *** to recommend the most suitable candidate from these numerous available services is an urgent ***-through rate(CTR)prediction is a core task of traditional service ***,many existing service recommender systems do not exploit user mobility for prediction,particularly in an edge computing *** this paper,we propose a model named long and short-term user preferences modeling with a multi-interest network based on user *** uses a logarithmic network to capture multiple interests in different fields,enriching the representations of user short-term *** terms of long-term preferences,users'comprehensive preferences are extracted in different periods and are fused using a nonlocal *** experiments on three datasets demonstrate that our model relying on user mobility can substantially improve the accuracy of service recommendation in edge computing compared with the state-of-the-art models.

Global trends in diabetic eye disease research from 2012 to 2021

Diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye complications that occur in diabetic patients and include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, diabetic cataracts, and diabetic glaucoma. However, the global epidemiology of these conditions has not been well characterized. In this study, we collected information on diabetic eye disease-related research grants from seven representative countries––the United States, China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France––by searching for all global diabetic eye disease journal articles in the Web of Science and Pub Med databases, all global registered clinical trials in the Clinical Trials database, and new drugs approved by the United States, China, Japan, and EU agencies from 2012 to 2021. During this time period, diabetic retinopathy accounted for the vast majority(89.53%) of the 2288 government research grants that were funded to investigate diabetic eye disease, followed by diabetic macular edema(9.27%). The United States granted the most research funding for diabetic eye disease out of the seven countries assessed. The research objectives of grants focusing on diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema differed by country. Additionally, the United States was dominant in terms of research output, publishing 17.53% of global papers about diabetic eye disease and receiving 22.58% of total citations. The United States and the United Kingdom led international collaborations in research into diabetic eye disease. Of the 415 clinical trials that we identified, diabetic macular edema was the major disease that was targeted for drug development(58.19%). Approximately half of the trials(49.13%) pertained to angiogenesis. However, few drugs were approved for ophthalmic(40 out of 1830;2.19%) and diabetic eye disease(3 out of 1830;0.02%) applications. In the growing e-commerce industry,the problem of malicious business operations has become increasingly prominent,exposing many problems such as weak supervision of e-commerce platforms and no way for consumers to *** order to solve the problems of counterfeit and shoddy products on e-commerce platforms and promote the sustainable development of the e-commerce industry in China,this paper constructs a three-party evolutionary game model of e-commerce platforms,merchants,and consumers,investigates the influence of each influencing factor on each party’s strategy choice,and provides targeted suggestions to e-commerce platforms based on relevant ***,the impact of several important parameters on the equilibrium solution is discussed through sensitivity *** results show that:1)the smaller the cost difference between active and negative regulation,the more the e-commerce platform tends to active regulation strategy,but increasing fines for dishonest merchants and consumer complaints have little impact on the e-commerce platform;2)increasing consumer compensation,creating an honest business environment,and reducing the cost of honest business all help companies tend to operate in good faith;3)the only factor that affects the tendency of consumer complaint strategies is the cost of *** loss suffered by silence and the compensation given to consumers have little effect on consumers’tendency to complain *** results can provide theoretical guidance for participants to make useful strategic decisions in the e-commerce market.

Experimental investigation on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets

An experimental study on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets was *** discharge behaviors under the conditions that a single outlet was open and two outlets were open were investigated by varying the moisture content of the particles and the filling height of the particles in the *** results show that the discharge rate of the cohesive particles increases gradually at the beginning,then almost keeps constant,and finally drops *** discharge rate in case of two openings is around 1.1–1.6 times that in case of a single *** filling height leads to lower discharge rate in case of a single opening but results in higher discharge rate in case of two ***,the avalanche dynamics in case of a single opening was examined,and the mixing behavior of the cohesive particles was *** is observed that the discharge flow is promoted by the avalanche phenomenon in the silo,generating a general trend that the normalized mass of discharge increases with the filling height at higher moisture *** case of a single opening,the transition from mass flow to funnel flow favors the particle mixing,resulting in an increasing mixing index as the moisture content *** general,a better performance of mixing can be achieved in case of a single opening compared with in case of two *** study provides vital information for fundamental understanding of the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from the silo with multiple outlets.

The Prandtl-Tomlinson(PT)model has been widely applied to interpret the atomic friction mechanism of a single *** this study,we present an approximate explicit expression for the friction force in the one-dimensional PT model under quasi-static ***‘stick-slip’friction curves are first approximated properly by sawtooth-like lines,where the critical points before and after the‘slip’motion are described analytically in terms of a dimensionless parameterη.Following this,the average friction force is expressed in a closed form that remains continuous and valid forη>***,an analytical expression for the load dependence of atomic friction of a single asperity is derived by connecting the parameterηwith the normal *** the parameters reported in experiments,our prediction shows good agreement with relevant experimental results.

Wearable Leg Movement Monitoring System for High-Precision Real-Time Metabolic Energy Estimation and Motion Recognition

Comprehensive and quantitative assessment of human physical activity in daily life is valuable for healthcare,especially for those who suffer from obesity and neurological disorders or are at high risk of *** wearable devices,e.g.,smartwatches,are insufficient and inaccurate for monitoring highly dynamic limb movements and assessing human ***,we report a new wearable leg movement monitoring system incorporating a custom-made motion sensor with machine learning algorithm to perceive human motion accurately and comprehensively during diverse walking and running *** system enables real-time multimodal perceptions of personal identity,motion state,locomotion speed,and energy expenditure for wearers.A general law of extracting real-time metabolic energy from leg movements is verified although individual gaits show *** addition,we propose a novel sensing configuration combining unilateral lower leg movement velocity with its angular rate to achieve high accuracy and good generalizability while simplifying the wearable *** performances in personal identification(accuracy of 98.7%)and motion-state recognition(accuracy of 93.7%)are *** wearable system also exhibites high-precision real-time estimations of locomotion speed(error of 3.04%to 9.68%)and metabolic energy(error of 4.18%to 14.71%)for new subjects across various time-varying *** wearable system allows reliable leg movement monitoring and quantitative assessment of bodily kinematic and kinetic behaviors during daily activities,as well as safe identity authentication by gait parameters,which would greatly facilitate smart life,personal healthcare,and rehabilitation training.

Since backlash nonlinearity is inevitably existing in actuators for bidirectional stabilization system of allelectric tank,it behaves more drastically in high maneuvering *** this work,the accurate tracking control for bidirectional stabilization system of moving all-electric tank with actuator backlash and unmodeled disturbance is *** utilizing the smooth adaptive backlash inverse model,a nonlinear robust adaptive feedback control scheme is *** unknown parameters and unmodelled disturbance are addressed separately through the derived parametric adaptive function and the continuous nonlinear robust *** the unknown backlash parameters are updated via adaptive function and the backlash effect can be suppressed successfully by inverse operation,which ensures the system ***,the system disturbance in the high maneuverable environment can be estimated with the constructed adaptive law online improving the engineering ***,Lyapunov-based analysis proves that the developed controller can ensure the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero even with unmodeled disturbance and unknown actuator *** co-simulations and experiments illustrate the advantages of the proposed approach.
