Study on single-group dynamics in evacuation considering pre-defined and undeclared leadership

Grouping is a common phenomenon that occurs *** leader-follower relationship inside groups has often been qualitatively characterized in previous models using simple ***,a general method is lacking to quantitatively explain leadership in an evacuating *** understand the evolution of single-group dynamics throughout an evacuation,we developed an extended social force model integrated with a group force.A series of single-group evacuations from a room were *** information-theoretic method,transfer entropy(TE),was applied to detect predefined and undeclared leadership among *** results showed that the predefined leader was correctly detected by TE,suggesting its capability in measuring leadership based on time series of evacuees’movement information(e.g.,velocity and acceleration).When evacuees were grouped together,TE was higher than when they were *** presented a monotonically increasing cumulative influence curve over the investigated period,whereas followers showed a diminishing *** found that leadership emergence correlated with evacuees’spatial *** individual located in the foremost part of the group was most likely to become a leader of those in the rear,which concurred with the experimental *** observed how a large group split into smaller ones with undeclared leadership during *** observations were quantitatively verified by TE *** study provides novel insights into quantifying leadership and understanding single-group dynamics during evacuations.

The prediction of exit choice using cumulative prospect value

Exit choice is essential for pedestrian safety and evacuation efficiency during the context of an emergency. Cumulative prospect theory is a widespread realistic decision-making theory that can transform choice outcomes and probabilities into subjective terms and integrate them as a parameter of cumulative prospect value (CPV), which determines the decision. The main contribution of this paper is the use of the CPV to predict exit choice. Furthermore, the different decision-making rules including Max, exponential(Expo), and Ratio (i.e., the three variable choice functions) were summarized and examined. This study used a confusion matrix to compare the predicted results with experimental data. Consequently, the parameters of Accuracy and F1-score showed that the predictions from Max and Expo were significantly more realistic while the results from Ratio were much more robust.

Summary We isolated a mutant showing perturbations in the development of male and female floral organs and fruits. Analysis of the single nucleotide polyTnorphisms from bulked F2 pools identified the causative variant occurring in Csa4G126690. Csa4G126690 shows high homol- ogy to Arobidopsis 5EPALLATA2 （SEP2） thus being desig- nated CsSEP2. The causative variant was located on the splicing site of CsSEP2, resulting in the skipping of exon 6 and abolishment of the transcriptional activity. Our data suggest that CsSEP2 is involved in the floral organ and fruits development by conferring transcriptional activity.

Dear Editor,Gynoecism has been extensively exploited in cucumber breeding. The utilization of a gynoecious line permits earlier pro- duction of hybrids, higher yield, and more concentrated fruit set. In addition, the utilization of a gynoecious line eliminates the need for hand emasculation and reduces the labor cost of crossing （Robinson, 2000）. Therefore, the development of gynoeoious inbred lines is instrumental for cucumber breeding. Gynoecious inbreds can be produced by selection from crosses of monoecious inbreds, or can arise spontaneously from natural variation. However, both methods have disadvantages. Sex determination in plants gives rise to unisexual flowers that facilitate outcrossing and enhance genetic diversity. In cucumber and melon, ethylene promotes carpel development and arrests sta- men development. Five sex-determination genes have been identified, including four encoding 1-aminocyclopropane-l-carboxylate （ACC） synthase that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in ethylene biosynthesis, and a transcription factor gene CmWIP1 that corresponds to the Mendelian locus gynoecious in melon and is a negative regulator of femaleness. ACC oxidase （ACO） converts ACC into ethylene; how- ever, it remains elusive which ACO gene in the cucumber genome is critical for sex determination and how CmWIP1 represses development of female flowers. In this study, we discovered that mutation in an ACO gene, CsAC02, confers androecy in cucumber that bears only male flowers. The mutation disrupts the enzymatic activity of CsAC02, resulting in 50% less ethylene emission from shoot tips. CsAC02 was ex- pressed in the carpel primordia and its expression overlapped with that of CsACS11 in female flowers at key stages for sex determination, presumably providing sufficient ethylene required for proper CsACS2 expression. CmAC03, the ortholog of CsACO2, showed a similar expression pattern in the carpel region, suggesting a conserved function of CsACO2/CmACO3. We demonstrated that CsWlP1, the ortholog of CmWlP1, could directly bind the promoter of CsAC02 and repress its expression. Taken together, we propose a presumably conserved regulatory module consisting of WlP1 transcription factor and ACO controls unisexual flower development in cucumber and melon.

A New Gene Conferring the Glabrous Trait in Cucumber Identified Using MutMap

Tubercles and spines on fruit peel are important commercial traits in cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.). From an ethyl methane sulfonate cucumber mutant library,we discovered a new glabrous mutant that bears no tubercle or spine on fruit peel and fewer and smaller trichomes on the stem and leaves. The new locus is here designated as glabrous2(gl2). Genome sequencing of the mutant and linkage analysis revealed that a non-synonymous mutation in the Csa1G056960 gene rendered the gl2 phenotype. The mutated gene encodes a C-type lectin receptor-like tyrosine protein kinase. This study provides a novel allele for elucidating the genetic basis of wart and trichome development and a new tool for breeding glabrous cucumber varieties.

马铃薯是世界上主要粮食作物之一,其块茎中的贮藏淀粉是马铃薯的主要利用产物。PROTEIN TARGETING TO STARCH 1(PTST1)基因在直链淀粉合成中具有重要作用。然而,它在马铃薯中的功能尚不清楚。本文以马铃薯PTST1为目的基因,从基因特征、表达模式及与GBSSI的互作关系方面进行了研究。PTST1蛋白由252个氨基酸残基组成,羧基端含有碳水化合物结合结构域。PTST1在多个组织的表达均低于GBSSI,在块茎发育时期,其表达没有明显的升高趋势。GBSSI在块茎中高表达,且随着块茎发育,其表达升高,说明PTST1与GBSSI的表达模式不同。酵母双杂交实验、烟草荧光素酶互补实验和双分子荧光互补实验证明PTST1与GBSSI蛋白互作,且互作发生于叶绿体基质。上述结果表明PTST1可能与叶片和块茎中直链淀粉的合成有密切的关系。本研究为调控马铃薯直链淀粉合成提供了新的基因资源。

研究雄安新区千年秀林不同类型有机肥施用效果,对造林2a后的白蜡、银杏、国槐、栾树和油松选取不同有机肥增量和不施肥开展试验,对施肥1年后树种的径生长、三维绿量和施肥前后土壤有机碳含量进行对比分析。结果显示,相比未施肥,施肥作业大都能显著促进树种径向生长,不同肥料在促进树种径向生长程度上存在差异,有机肥施用可提高速生树种冠体三维绿量,对慢生树种银杏冠体三维绿量促进效果不佳,能够显著提升土壤表层有机碳含量,促进林木径向和三维绿量增加,且能有效提高林地表层土壤碳储量。以上研究为雄安新区千年秀林及其林地资源的可持续发展提供依据。
