Updated developments on molecular imaging and therapeutic strategies directed against necrosis

Cell death plays important roles in living organisms and is a hallmark of numerous disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, sepsis and acute pancreatitis. Moreover, cell death also plays a pivotal role in the treatment of certain diseases, for example, cancer. Noninvasive visualization of cell death contributes to gained insight into diseases, development of individualized treatment plans, evaluation of treatment responses, and prediction of patient prognosis. On the other hand, cell death can also be targeted for the treatment of diseases. Although there are many ways for a cell to die, only apoptosis and necrosis have been extensively studied in terms of cell death related theranostics. This review mainly focuses on molecular imaging and therapeutic strategies directed against necrosis. Necrosis shares common morphological characteristics including the rupture of cell membrane integrity and release of cellular contents, which provide potential biomarkers for visualization of necrosis and necrosis targeted therapy. In the present review, we summarize the updated joint efforts to develop molecular imaging probes and therapeutic strategies targeting the biomarkers exposed by necrotic cells. Moreover, we also discuss the challenges in developing necrosis imaging probes and propose several biomarkers of necrosis that deserve to be explored in future imaging and therapy research.

Automatic detection of ruminant cows’ mouth area during rumination based on machine vision and video analysis technology

In order to realize the automatic monitoring of ruminant activities of cows,an automatic detection method for the mouth area of ruminant cows based on machine vision technology was *** flow was used to calculate the relative motion speed of each pixel in the video frame *** candidate mouth region with large motion ranges was extracted,and a series of processing methods,such as grayscale processing,threshold segmentation,pixel point expansion and adjacent region merging,were carried out to extract the real area of cows’*** verify the accuracy of the proposed method,six videos with a total length of 96 min were selected for this *** results showed that the highest accuracy was 87.80%,the average accuracy was 76.46%and the average running time of the algorithm was 6.39 *** the results showed that this method can be used to detect the mouth area automatically,which lays the foundation for automatic monitoring of cows’ruminant behavior.

Impact of aperture on dynamic response of sandwich plates with aluminium face-sheets and PMI core based on an alternative finite element formulation and experiments

Apertures generally exist in the sandwich structures attributing to mechanical connection and lightweight, which might induce failure of such structures. Thus, it is required to realize the impact of aperture on mechanical behaviors of sandwich structures. If transverse shear deformations are unable to be described accurately, the reasonable prediction of dynamic behaviors of the form-core sandwich plates with apertures will meet severe challenges due to a large difference of transverse shear modulus at the adjacent layers. Thereby, such issue is less studied by using the efficient models and experimental testing, so an alternative sinusoidal-type finite element formulation is to be proposed to precisely predict dynamic response of the form-core sandwich structures with apertures. The proposed finite element formulation can meet beforehand compatible conditions of transverse shear stresses at the interfaces of adjacent laminates. In order to appraise strictly capability of the proposed model, experimental tests on natural frequencies of three groups of specimens with different apertures have been carried out. Moreover, four specimens in each group are tested to reduce the testing errors, which is less reported in the published literature. In addition,three-dimensional Finite Element Method(3-D FEM) is also selected to account for the good performance of the present model. Finally, the impact of aperture diameter on the natural frequencies of the sandwich structures is both experimentally and numerically investigated, which can serve as a reference for other researchers.

Gold-Loaded Polymeric Micelles with TemperatureModulated Catalytic Activity

Four-armed amphiphilic block copolymers, polystyrene-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PS-bPNIPAM)4, were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP).(PS-b-PNIPAM)4 self-assembled into micelles with PS block as core and thermoresponsive PNIPAM block as corona. The gold nanoparticles(Au NPs) with average diameter about 5.8 nm were immobilized on the surfaces of the micelles by the reduction of the corresponding ions. The micelle-supported gold nanoparticles(Au-micelles) were applied to catalyze the reduction of p-nitrophenol. Moreover, the activity of the Au-micelle catalyst could be modulated by the temperature and the Au-micelles could be easily recovered by changing the temperature and recycled four times with high catalytic activity.

Intelligent monitoring method of cow ruminant behavior based on video analysis technology

An adaptive segmentation method combining MSRCR and mean shift algorithm with K-means correction of green apples in natural environment

During the recognition and localization process of green apple targets,problems such as uneven illumination,occlusion of branches and leaves need to be *** this study,the multi-scale Retinex with color restoration(MSRCR)algorithm was applied to enhance the original green apple images captured in an orchard environment,aiming to minimize the impacts of varying light *** enhanced images were then explicitly segmented using the mean shift algorithm,leading to a consistent gray value of the internal pixels in an independent *** that,the fuzzy attention based on information maximization algorithm(FAIM)was developed to detect the incomplete growth position and realize threshold ***,the poorly segmented images were corrected using the K-means algorithm according to the shape,color and texture *** users intuitively acquire the minimum enclosing rectangle localization results on a PC.A total of 500 green apple images were tested in this *** with the manifold ranking algorithm,the K-means clustering algorithm and the traditional mean shift algorithm,the segmentation accuracy of the proposed method was 86.67%,which was 13.32%,19.82%and 9.23%higher than that of the other three algorithms,***,the false positive and false negative errors were 0.58%and 11.64%,respectively,which were all lower than the other three compared *** proposed method accurately recognized the green apples under complex illumination conditions and growth ***,it provided effective references for intelligent growth monitoring and yield estimation of fruits.

Digital Relief Generation from 3D Models

It is difficult to extend image-based relief generation to high-relief generation, as the images contain insufficient height information. To generate reliefs from three-dimensional （3D） models, it is necessary to extract the height fields from the model, but this can only generate bas-reliefs. To overcome this problem, an efficient method is proposed to generate bas-reliefs and high-reliefs directly from 3D meshes. To produce relief features that are visually appropriate, the 3D meshes are first scaled. 3D unsharp masking is used to enhance the visual features in the 3D mesh, and average smoothing and Laplacian smoothing are implemented to achieve better smoothing results. A nonlinear variable scaling scheme is then employed to generate the final bas-reliefs and high-reliefs. Using the proposed method, relief models can be generated from arbitrary viewing positions with different gestures and combinations of multiple 3D models. The generated relief models can be printed by 3D printers. The proposed method provides a means of generating both high-reliefs and bas-reliefs in an efficient and effective way under the appropriate scaling factors.

Model for tomato photosynthetic rate based on neural network with genetic algorithm

A photosynthetic rate model provides a theoretical basis for fine-grained control of light,and has become the key component to determine the effectiveness of light-controlled ***,it is critical to identify an intelligent algorithm that can be used to build an efficient and precise photosynthetic rate *** on the initial weights of a BP(Back Propagation)neural network algorithm for arbitrary random numbers,the establishment of a regressive prediction model can be easily trapped in a partially-flat *** photosynthetic rate models based on neural networks are facing problems such as a slow convergence speed and a long training time,and this study presents a photosynthetic rate model of a heuristic neural network for tomatoes based on a genetic algorithm to address the above *** performance of the model can be effectively improved using a genetic algorithm to optimize the initial weights.A multi-factor nesting experiment was firstly conducted to obtain 825 groups of tomato seedling photosynthesis rate test data in the foundation,and the photosynthetic rate model of the heuristic neural network for the tomato is established through BP network structure construction and data *** genetic algorithm was used to optimize the network weights and threshold,and the LM(Levenberg-Marquardt)training method for network *** this basis,the training performance and precision of the photosynthetic rate prediction models can be further compared with the genetic neural network model and the neural network *** test results have shown that the training effects and accuracy of the genetic neural network prediction model of the photosynthetic rate were better than those of the neural network prediction *** correlation coefficient between the model predicted data and the measured data is 0.987,and the absolute error of the photosynthetic rate is less than±0.5μmol/(m^(2)·s).

Preparation and Stability Evaluation of Size-Controllable PDHCA-β-CD Nanoparticles as Drug Carrier

A novel biocompatible polymer was prepared by grafting the derivate of β-cyclodextrin （6-SH-β-CD） onto poly（3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid）（PDHCA） via Michael addition. PDHCA-β-CD nanoparticles were prepared by the self-assembly of amphiphilic PDHCA-β-CD polymer with N,N-dimethylformamide （DMF） as good solvent and water as poor solvent. The PDHCA-β-CD nanoparticles were monodispersed with spherical morphology as shown in the scanning electron microscopic （SEM） images in accord with the result of dynamic light scattering （DLS） measurement. The size of the nanoparticles could be controlled from 60 to 180 nm by tuning the grafting degree （GD） of PDHCA-β-CD polymer and also significantly influenced by the amount of water used during the process. These as-prepared nanoparticles were stable without any significant change in the particle size after six-months＇ storage and even after being irradiated by UV at 2〉280 nm for hours. The formation mechanism of PDHCA-β-CD nanoparticles was explored. The content of doxombicin （DOX） loaded onto the nanoparticles was up to 39% with relatively high loading efficiency （approximately 78.8% of initial DOX introduced was loaded）. In vitro release studies suggested that DOX released slowly from PDHCA-β-CD nanoparticles. These features strongly support the potential of developing PDHCA-β-CD nanoparticles as carriers for the controlled delivery of drug.

Negatively thermo-responsive 2D membranes,which mimic the stomatal opening/closing of plants,have drawn substantial interest for tunable molecular separation ***,these membranes are still restricted significantly on account of low water permeability and poor dynamic tunability of 2D nanochannels under temperature ***,we present a biomimetic negatively thermo-responsive MXene membrane by covalently grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAm)onto MXene *** uniformly grafted PNIPAm polymer chains can enlarge the interlayer spacings for increasing water permeability while also allowing more tunability of 2D nanochannels for enhancing the capability of gradually separating multiple molecules of different *** expected,the constructed membrane exhibits ultrahigh water permeance of 95.6 L m^(-2) h^(-1) bar^(-1) at 25℃,which is eight-fold higher than the state-of-the-art negatively thermoresponsive 2D ***,the highly temperature-tunable 2D nanochannels enable the constructed membrane to perform excellent graded molecular sieving for dye-and antibiotic-based ternary *** strategy provides new perspectives in engineering smart 2D membrane and expands the scope of temperature-responsive membranes,showing promising applications in micro/nanofluidics and molecular separation.
