Automatic content analysis of sports videos is a valuable and challenging task. Motivated by analogies between a class of sports videos and languages, the authors propose a novel approach for sports video analysis based on compiler principles. It integrates both semantic analysis and syntactic analysis to automatically create an index and a table of contents for a sports video. Each shot of the video sequence is first annotated and indexed with semantic labels through detection of events using domain knowledge. A grammar-based parser is then constructed to identify the tree structure of the video content based on the labels. Meanwhile, the grammar can be used to detect and recover errors during the analysis. As a case study, a sports video parsing system is presented in the particular domain of diving. Experimental results indicate the proposed approach is effective. The genus Helina R.-D., 1830 is the second largest genus in Muscidae. By now,more than 400 species are known in the world and about 200 species have been described in China. This paper outlines earlier studies on the subgenus and species-group of Helina. Helina annosa species-group is erected. A key to the known Chinese subgroups and species is *** 19 known Chinese species is listed, including one new species, i.e. Helina setipostitibia sp. nov. Type specimen of the holotype of the new species is deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Shenyang Normal University.

Aim:To identify a novel isoform of adaptin 2 beta subunit (named Ap2β-NY) and to investigate its relationship with testicular development and ***:Using a human testis cDNA microarray,a clone (Ap2β-NY), which was strongly expressed in adult testes but weakly expressed in embryo testes,was sequenced and analyzed. Using polymerase chain reaction (PCR),the tissue distribution and expression time pattern of Ap2β-NY were determined. Results:Ap2β-NY was identified and has been deposited in the GenBank (AY341427).The expression level of Ap2β-NY in the adult testis was about 3-fold higher than that in the embryo *** analysis using multi-tissue cDNA indicated that Ap2β-NY was highly expressed in the testis,spleen,thymus,prostate,ovary,blood leukocyte and brain,but not in the heart,placenta,lung,liver,skeletal muscle,kidney and *** addition,Ap2β-NY was variably expressed in the testes of patients with spermatogenesis-disturbance and spermatogenesis-arrest but not expressed in those of Sertoli-cell-only syndrome,which implied that,in the testis,Ap2β-NY was restrictively ex- pressed in germ ***:Ap2β-NY is an isoform of Ap2β and may be involved in regulating the process of spermatogenesis and testis development.

AIM: To examine the association of daily alcohol intake,types of alcoholic beverage consumed, drinking patterns and obesity with alcoholic liver disease in ***: By random cluster sampling and a 3-year follow-up study, 1 270 alcohol drinkers were recruited from different occupations in the urban and suburban areas of Xi'an City. They were examined by specialists and inquired for information on: Medical history and family medical history, alcohol intake, types of alcoholic beverage consumed, drinking patterns by detailed dietary questionnaires. Routine blood tests and ultrasonography were ***: Multivariate analysis showed that: (1) The risk threshold for developing alcoholic liver disease was ingestion of more than 20 g alcohol per day, keeping on drinking for over 5 years in men. The highest OR was at the daily alcohol consumption ≥160 g, the occurrencerate of ALD amounted to 18.7% (P<0.01). No ALD occurred when ingestion of alcohol was less than 20 g per day. (2) 87.9% of all drank only at mealtimes. The cumulative risk of developing ALD was significantly higher in those individuals who regularly drank alcohol without food than in those who drank only at mealtimes, especially for those who regularly drank hard liquors only and multiple drinks (P<0.05). (3) The alcohol consumption in those with BMI ≥25 was lower than in those with BMI<25, but the risk increased to 11.5%, significantly higher than that of general population, 6.5% (P<0.01). (4) Abstinence and weight reduction could benefit the liver function ***: In the Chinese population the ethanol risk threshold for developing ALD is 20 g per day, and this risk increases with increased daily intake. Drinking 20 g of ethanol per day and for less than 5 years are safe from ALD. Drinking alcohol outside mealtimes and drinking hard liquors only and multiple different alcohol beverages both increase the risk of developing ALD. AIM: Because of a major resistance to chemotherapy, prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still poor. New treatments are required and gene therapy may be an option. Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) induces apoptosis in multiple malignant tumors, and using adenoviral vectors has shown a targeted tumor-specific therapy. However, repeated administration of adenoviral vectors can lead to cell resistance, which may be caused by the initial coxsackie-adenovirus receptor (CAR). One technique to overcome resistance is the use of modified adenoviral vectors containing an Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) sequence. In this study we constructed an adenoviral vector (designated Ad/TRAIL-F/RGD) with RGD-modified fibers, expressing the TRAIL gene from the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) promoter, and evaluated its antitumor activity in HCC cell ***: To investigate the effects of Ad/TRAIL-F/RGD in human HCC cell lines Hep G2 and Hep 3b, cells were infected with Ad/CMV-GFP (vector control), Ad/gTRAIL (positive control), and Ad/TRAIL-F/RGD. Phosphatebuffered saline (PBS) was used as control. Cell viability was determined by proliferation assay (XTT), and apoptosis induction by fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS).RESULTS: Cells treated with Ad/TRAIL-F/RGD and Ad/ gTRAIL showed a significantly reduced cell viability in comparison to PBS and Ad/CMV-GFP treatment in both cell lines. Whereas, treatment with PBS and Ad/CMVGFP had no cell-killing effect. The reduced cell viability was caused by induction of apoptosis as shown by FACS analysis. The amount of apoptotic cells was similar after incubation with Ad/gTRAIL and Ad/TRAIL-F/RGD. CONCLUSION: The new RGD modified vector Ad/TRAILF/RGD could become a potent therapeutic agent for the treatment of HCC, adenovirus resistant tumors, and CAR low or negative cancer cells.

Long-term maintenance of chicken primordial germ cells (PGCs) in vitro has tremendous potential for transgenic chicken production. Feeder cells are essential for the establishment and culture of chicken PGCs in vitro. Buffalo rat liver (BRL) cells are the most commonly used feeder cells for PGCs culture;however, this feeder layers from other animal species usually cause immunogenic contaminations, compromising the potential of PGCs in applications. Therefore, we tested chicken source mensenchymal stem cell (MSCs) derived from bone marrow as feeder cells to further improve PGC culture conditions. MSCs derived from chicken bone marrow have a powerful capacity to proliferate and secrete cytokines. We found chicken primordial germ cells derived from circulating blood (cPGCs) and gonads (gPGCs) can be maintained and proliferated with MSCs feeder layer cells. PGCs co-cultured on MSCs feeder retained their pluripotency, expressed PGCs specific genes and stemness markers, and maintained undifferentiated state. Our study indicated that the xeno-free MSCs-feeders culture system is a good candidate for growth and expansion of PGCs as the stepping stone for transgenic chicken research.
