Crystallization,Mechanical,Thermal and Rheological Properties of Polypropylene Composites Reinforced by Magnesium Oxysulfate Whisker

Polypropylene （PP） composites containing magnesium oxysulfate whisker （MOSw） or lauric acid （LA） modified MOSw （LAMOSw） were prepared via melt mixing in a torque rheometer. The heterogeneous nucleating effect of LAMOSw was clearly observed in polarized light microscopy （PLM） pictures with the presence of an abundance of small spherulites. MOSw exhibited no nucleation effect and formed a few spherulites with large size. Compared with PP/MOSw composites, PP/LAMOSw exhibited better impact strength, tensile strength and nominal strain at break, ascribing to three possible reasons：（i） more β-crystal PP formed, （ii） better dispersity of LAMOSw in PP matrix and （iii） the plasticizing effect of LA. The results of dynamic mechanical thermal analysis （DMTA） indicated that brittleness of the PP matrix at low temperature was improved by the addition of LAMOSw, while the interracial interactions between MOSw and PP matrix were actually weakened by LA, as evidenced by the higher tan8 values over the entire range of test temperatures. In terms of the rheological properties of the composites, both the η＊ and G＇ at low frequencies increase with the addition of MOSw or LAMOSw, indicating that the PP matrix was transformed from liquid-like to solid-like. However, a network of whiskers did not form because no plateau was found in the G＇ at low frequencies. With low filler content, LAMOSw produced a stronger solid-like behavior than MOSw mainly due to the better dispersion of the LAMOSw in PP matrix. However, for highly-filled composites, the η＊ of PP/LAMOSw at low frequencies was smaller than that of PP/MOSw composite, since the particle- particle contact effect played a major role.

Effects of Different Compatibilizing Agents on the Interfacial Adhesion Properties of Polypropylene/Magnesium Oxysulfate Whisker Composites

The effects of maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene （PP-g-MAH） and maleic anhydride-grafted polyolefin elastomer （POE-g-MAH） on interracial adhesion properties of the polypropylene/magnesium oxysulfate whiskers （PP/MOSw） composites were investigated via mechanical, thermal, ATR-FTIR and rheological tests. Although significant increases in yield strength and Young＇s modulus were observed in PP-g-MAH treated composites, a sharp decline in these properties was observed in POE-g-MAH treated composites. ATR-FTIR results indicated that esterification occurred between the hydroxyl groups of MOSw and the carbonyls of anhydrides of both compatibilizers but POE-g-MAH was still incompatible with the PP matrix, as verified by the presence of shoulder peaks in DTG curves and numerous voids in SEM micrographs. On the other hand, PP-g-MAH was highly compatible with the PP matrix, as evidenced by the peaks in DTG curves and vague interfaces with wrapped melts on the surface of MOSw. Rheological behaviors also confirmed that introducing PP-g-MAH resulted in a transition from liquid-like to solid-like, which was attributed to the stronger interfacial adhesion between MOSw and the PP matrix. POE-g-MAH treated composites, in contrast to PP-g-MAH, maintained liquid- like rheological behaviors as typical molten polymers. There is likely a MOSw network formed in the PP/15PP-g- MAH/15MOSw composite as suggested by the significant deviation of G＇ versus G＂ plots and the two crossover frequencies observed in plots of tan6versus frequency.

Synthesis of Mg_2B_2O_5 whiskers via coprecipitation and sintering process

Mg2B2O5 whiskers with high aspect ratio were synthesized by coprecipitation and sintering process using MgCl2-6H2O, H3BO3, and NaOH as raw materials and KCl as a flux. Their formation process was investigated by thermogravimetry and differential scanning calo- rimetry （TG-DSC）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, and scanning electron microcopy （SEM）. It is found that the products synthesized at 832℃ are monoclinic Mg2B205 whiskers with a diameter of 200-400 nm and a length of 50-80 μm. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and selected area electron diffraction （SAED） analyses show that the whiskers obtained at 832℃ are single crystalline and grow along with the [010] direction. The growth mechanism of Mg2B2O5 whiskers was also presented.

Synergistic catalysis of the N-hydroxyphthalimide on flower-like bimetallic metal-organic frameworks for boosting oxidative desulfurization

Synergic catalytic effect between active sites and supports greatly determines the catalytic activity for the aerobic oxidative desulfurization of fuel *** this work,Ni-doped Co-based bimetallic metal-organic framework(CoNi-MOF)is fabricated to disperse N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI),in which the whole catalyst provides plentiful synergic catalytic effect to improve the performance of oxidative desulfurization(ODS).As a bimetallic MOF,the second metal Ni doping results in the flower-like morphology and the modification of electronic properties,which ensure the exposure of NHPI and strengthen the synergistic effect of the overall *** with the monometallic Co-MOF and naked NHPI,the NHPI@CoNi-MOF triggers the efficient activation of molecular oxygen and improves the ODS performance without an *** sulfur removal of dibenzothiophene-based model oil reaches 96.4%over the NHPI@CoNi-MOF catalyst in 8 h of ***,the catalytic product of this aerobic ODS reaction is sulfone,which is adsorbed on the catalyst surface due to the difference in *** work provides new insight and strategy for the design of a strong synergic catalytic effect between NHPI and bimetallic supports toward high-activity aerobic ODS materials.

Re-evaluating Transarterial Chemoembolization Failure/Refractoriness:A Survey by Chinese College of Interventionalists

Background and Aims:The recognition of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)failure/refractoriness among Chinese clinicians remains *** an online survey conducted by the Chinese College of Interventionalists(CCI),the aim of this study was to explore the recognition of TACE failure/refractoriness and review TACE application for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)treatment in clinical ***:From 27 August 2020 to 30 August 2020 during the CCI 2020 annual meeting,a survey with 34 questions was sent by email to 264 CCI clinicians in China with more than 10 years of experience using TACE for HCC ***:A total of 257 clinicians participated and responded to the *** participants agreed that the concept of“TACE failure/refractoriness”has scientific and clinical significance(n=191,74.3%).Nearly half of these participants chose TACE-based combination treatment as subsequent therapy after so-called TACE failure/refractoriness(n=88,46.1%).None of the existing TACE failure/refractoriness definitions were widely accepted by the participants;thus,it is necessary to re-define this concept for the treatment of HCC in China(n=235,91.4%).Most participants agreed that continuing TACE should be performed for patients with preserved liver function,presenting portal vein tumor thrombosis(n=242,94.2%)or extrahepatic spread(n=253,98.4%),after the previous TACE treatment to control intrahepatic lesion(s).Conclusions:There is an obvious difference in the recognition of TACE failure/refractoriness among Chinese clinicians based on existing *** work should be carried out to re-define TACE failure/refractoriness.

Comprehensive study on the spatial distribution of heavy metals and their environmental risks in high-sulfur coal gangue dumps in China

The accumulation of coal gangue(CG)from coal mining is an important source of heavy metals(HMs)in *** spatial distribution and environment risk assessment are extremely important for the management and remediation of *** soil samples were collected from the high-sulfur CG site in northern China and analyzed for six *** results showed that the soil was heavily contaminated by Mn,Cr and Ni based on the Nemerow index,and posed seriously ecological risk depended on the geo-accumulation index,potential ecological risk index and risk assessment *** semi-variogram model and ordinary kriging interpolation accurately portrayed the spatial distribution of ***,Mn,and Cr were distributed by band diffusion,Ni was distributed by core,the distribution of Cu had obvious patchiness and Zn was more *** spatial autocorrelation indicated that all HMs had strong spatial *** BCR sequential extraction was employed to qualify the geochemical fractions of *** data indicated that Fe and Cr were dominated by residual fraction;Cu,Ni and Zn were dominated by reducible and oxidizable fractions;Mn was dominated by reducible and acid-extractable(25.38%-44.67%)*** correlation analysis showed that pH was the main control factor affecting the non-residue fractions of ***,acid production from high sulfur CG reduced soil pH by 2-3,which indirectly promoted the activity of ***,the conceptual model of HMs contamination at the CG site was proposed,which can be useful for the development of ecological remediation strategies.

Bioleaching of vanadium from stone coal vanadium ore by Bacillus mucilaginosus:Influencing factors and mechanism

Vanadium and its derivatives are used in various industries,including steel,metallurgy,pharmaceuticals,and aerospace *** China has massive reserves of stone coal resources,these resources have low ***,the effective extraction and recovery of metallic vanadium from stone coal is an important way to realize the efficient resource utilization of stone coal vanadium ***,Bacillus mucilaginosus was selected as the leaching *** vanadium leaching rate reached 35.5%after 20 d of bioleaching under optimal operating *** cumulative vanadium leaching rate in the contact group reached 35.5%,which was higher than that in the noncontact group(9.3%).The metabolites of ***,such as oxalic,tartaric,citric,and malic acids,dominated in bioleaching,accounting for 73.8%of the vanadium leaching ***,during leaching,the presence of stone coal stimulated the expression of carbonic anhydrase in bacterial cells,and enzyme activity increased by 1.335-1.905 *** activity positively promoted the production of metabolite organic acids,and total organic acid content increased by 39.31 mg·L^(-1),resulting in a reduction of 2.51 in the pH of the leaching system with stone *** effect favored the leaching of vanadium from stone *** force microscopy illustrated that bacterial leaching exacerbated corrosion on the surface of stone coal beyond 10 *** study provides a clear and promising strategy for exploring the bioleaching mechanism from the perspective of microbial enzyme activity and metabolites.

Intermittent hypoxia has been shown to provide myocardial protection against ishemia/reperfusion-induced injury. Cardiac myocyte loss through apoptosis has been reported in ischemia/reperfusion injury. Our aim was to investigate whether intermittent hypoxia could attenuate ischemia/reperfusion-induced apoptosis in cardiac myocytes and its potential mechanisms. Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to hypoxia simulated 5000 m in a hypobaric chamber for 6 h/day, lasting 42 days. Normoxia group rats were kept under normoxic conditions. Isolated perfused hearts from both groups were subjected to 30 min of global ischemia followed by 60 min reperfusion. Incidence of apoptosis in cardiac myocytes was determined by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP nick end labeling （TUNEL） and DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. A General Simulation Method for Complex Deformation of Irregular-Shaped Origami Configurations
