Spin valve effect of NiFe/graphene/NiFe junctions

When spins are injected through graphene layers from a transition metal ferromagnet, high spin polarization can be achieved. When detected by another ferromagnet, the spin-polarized current makes high- and low-resistance states in a ferromagnet/graphene/ferromagnet junction. Here, we report manifest spin valve effects from room temperature to 10 K in junctions comprising NiFe electrodes and an interlayer made of double-layer or single-layer graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition. We have found that the spin valve effect is stronger with double-layer graphene than with single-layer graphene. The ratio of relative magnetoresistance increases from 0.09% at room temperature to 0.14% at 10 K for single-layer graphene and from 0.27% at room temperature to 0.48% at 10 K for double-layer graphene. The spin valve effect is perceived to retain the spin-polarized transport in the vertical direction and the hysteretic nature of magnetoresistance provides the basic functionality of a memory device. We have also found that the junction resistance decreases monotonically as temperature is lowered and the current-voltage characteristics show linear behaviour. These results revealed that a graphene interlayer works not as a tunnel barrier but rather as a conducting thin film between two NiFe electrodes.

背景与目的非小细胞肺癌(non?small cell lung cancer, NSCLC)患者中非吸烟患者的比例正在增加,但在韩国,这个人数众多的群体并没有得到很好的治疗。本研究旨对NSCLC非吸烟患者的比例和临床特征进行一个单中心评估。方法我们分析了从2011年6月到2014年12月所有新诊断为NSCLC的1860例患者的临床数据。结果在1860例NSCLC患者中,707例(38%)从不吸烟。非吸烟患者中女性(83.7%vs.5.6%)和腺癌(89.8%vs. 44.9%)的比例均高于吸烟患者。非吸烟患者与吸烟患者相比,中位年龄明显更低(65 vs. 68岁,P<0.001),早期肿瘤比例更高(I–II期,44.5%vs. 38.9%,P=0.015)。与吸烟患者相比,表皮生长因子受体突变(57.8%vs. 24.4%,P<0.001)和间变性淋巴瘤激酶重排(7.8%vs. 2.8%,P<0.001)在非吸烟患者中更常见,而Kirsten大鼠肉瘤病毒癌基因同源染色体的基因突变(5.8%vs. 9.6%,P=0.021)出现频率则较低。在对年龄低、女性、腺癌、体能更好、疾病早期、诊断时无症状、曾接受抗肿瘤治疗以及存在驱动基因突变等的有利影响进行校正后,非吸烟患者的生存期比吸烟患者更长(hazard ratio,0.624,95%CI:0.460–0.848; P=0.003)。结论韩国超过三分之一的NSCLC患者是非吸烟者。NSCLC非吸烟患者与吸烟患者相比,有着不同的临床特征和主要驱动基因突变,总生存期更长。

Most plants are polyploid due to whole-genome duplications （WGD） and can thus have duplicated genes. Following a WGD, paralogs are often fractionated （lost） and few duplicate pairs remain. Little attention has been paid to the role of DNA methylation in the functional divergence of paralogous genes. Using high- resolution methylation maps of accessions of domesticated and wild soybean, we show that in soybean, a recent paleopolyploid with many paralogs, DNA methylation likely contributed to the elimination of ge- netic redundancy of polyploidy-derived gene paralogs. Transcriptionally silenced paralogs exhibit partic- ular genomic features as they are often associated with proximal transposable elements （TEs） and are pref- erentially located in pericentromeres, likely due to gene movement during evolution. Additionally, we provide evidence that gene methylation associated with proximal TEs is implicated in the divergence of expression profiles between orthologous genes of wild and domesticated soybean, and within populations.

Climatic extremes such as drought have becoming a severe climate-related problem in many regions all over the world that can induce anomalies in vegetation condition. Growth and CO2 uptake by plants are constrained to a large extent by ***, it is important to understand the spatial and temporal responses of vegetation to drought across the various land cover types and different regions. Leaf area index(LAI) derived from Global Land Surface Satellite(GLASS) data was used to evaluate the response of vegetation to drought occurrence across yunnan Province, China(2001-2010). The meteorological drought was assessed based on Standardized Precipitation Index(SPI)values. Pearson's correlation coefficients between LAI and SPI were examined across several timescales within six sub-regions of the yunnan. Further, the drought-prone area was identified based on LAI anomaly values. Lag and cumulative effects of lack of precipitation on vegetation were evident, with significant correlations found using 3-, 6-, 9-and 12-month timescale. We found 9-month timescale has higher correlations compared to another *** 29.4% of yunnan's area was classified as drought-prone area, based on the LAI anomaly values. Most of this drought-prone area was distributed in the mountainous region of *** the research, it is evident that GLASS LAI can be effectively used as an indicator for assessing drought conditions and it provide valuable information for drought risk defense and preparedness.

Oxidative hair dyes containingρ-phenylenediamine(PPD)are reported to induce an allergic reaction by promoting oxidative stress when absorbed through the *** the associated risk,these hair dyes remain popular owing to their convenience and sharpness of *** makes it important to minimize the cytotoxicity and oxidative stress induced by PPD-containing hair *** cava extract has been evaluated in different studies for its protective effects against external stress in fibroblasts and *** study was aimed at using in-vitro and in-vivo models to investigate the extract’s effects on cytotoxicity of and oxidative stress induced by PPD-containing hair *** of CIEL*a*b*Color space was first used to determine the range of *** extract that would not interfere with the coloring ability of the dye upon ***,the set ranges of *** extract(5% and 7%)were added to the hair dye and their toxicity assessed by evaluating the viability of fibroblasts and *** effects on developmental phenotypes and induction of oxidative stress by hair dye were evaluated and compared with those of hair dyes containing different contents of *** extract using an in-vivo zebrafish *** results showed that *** extract in hair dye could significantly decrease the cytotoxicity and levels of oxidative stress caused by hair dyes containing PPD in both in-vitro and in-vivo *** results suggest that the addition of 7% *** extract to 250μg/mL hair dye does not interfere with the coloring ability of the dye while showing significant protective eff ects against the hair *** study proposes that the use of *** extract as an adduct to hair dyes containing PPD reduces the cytotoxicity and oxidative stress induced by these hair dyes.

In order to flower in the appropriate season,plants monitor light and temperature changes and alter downstream pathways that regulate florigen genes such as Arabidopsis(Arabidopsis thaliana)FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT).In Arabidopsis,FT messenger RNA levels peak in the morning and evening under natural long-day conditions(LDs).However,the regulatory mechanisms governing morning FT induction remain poorly *** morning FT peak is absent in typical laboratory LDs characterized by high red:far-red light(R:FR)ratios and constant ***,we demonstrate that ZEITLUPE(ZTL)interacts with the FT repressors TARGET OF EATs(TOEs),thereby repressing morning FT expression in natural *** LDs with simulated sunlight(R:FR=1.0)and daily temperature cycles,which are natural LD-mimicking environmental conditions,FT transcript levels in the ztl mutant were high specifically in the morning,a pattern that was mirrored in the toe1 toe2 double *** night-to-morning temperatures increased the inhibitory effect of ZTL on morning FT expression by increasing ZTL protein levels early in the ***-red light counteracted ZTL activity by decreasing its abundance(possibly via phytochrome A(phyA))while increasing GIGANTEA(GI)levels and negatively affecting the formation of the ZTL-GI complex in the ***,the phyA-mediated high-irradiance response and GI play pivotal roles in morning FT *** findings suggest that the delicate balance between low temperature-mediated ZTL activity and the far-red light-mediated functions of phyA and GI offers plants flexibility in fine-tuning their flowering time by controlling FT expression in the morning.

Background:To describe the surgical technique and assess the clinical efficacy and safety of modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression in the treatment of dysthyroid optic ***:In this retrospective research,forty-two subjects(74 orbits)who underwent modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression for the treatment of dysthyroid optic neuropathy were *** and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),visual field mean deviation(MD),Hertel exophthalmometry,and new onset diplopia were assessed before and after the *** Wilcoxon test was used for differential *** mixed-models’analyses were conducted to assess the potential predictors for BCVA ***:Postoperatively,the mean BCVA improved from 0.70±0.62 logMAR to 0.22±0.33 *** significantly improved in 69 eyes(93%),remained stable in 4 eyes(5%)and deteriorated in 1 eye(1%).MD of visual fields improved from−13.73±9.22 dB to−7.23±7.04 *** decreased from 19.57±3.38mm to 16.35±*** BCVA,MD of visual fields and medical rectus diameter were independent factors associated with improvements in BCVA(P<0.05)by linear mixed-models’*** patients(42.9%)developed new diplopia ***:Modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression effectively restores vision in dysthyroid optic neuropathy.
