Chronic stress may disrupt the normal neurodevelopmental trajectory of the adolescent brain(especially the prefrontal cortex) and contribute to the pathophysiology of stress-related mental illnesses,but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain ***,we investigated how synaptic cell adhesion molecules(e.g.,nectin3)are involved in the effects of adolescent chronic stress on mouse medial prefrontal cortex(mPFC).Male C57BL/6N mice were subjected to chronic social instability stress from postnatal days 29 to *** week later,the mice exposed to chronic stress exhibited impaired social recognition and spatial working memory,simplified dendritic structure,and reduced spine density in the *** localization of nectin3 was also altered,and was significantly correlated with behavioral ***,knocking down mPFC nectin3 expression by adeno-associated virus in adolescent mice reproduced the stress-induced changes in behavior and mPFC *** results support the hypothesis that nectin3 is a potential mediator of the effects of adolescent chronic stress on prefrontal structural and functional abnormalities.

Expression of visual system homeobox 1 in human keratoconus

AIM: To investigate the expression of visual system homeobox 1(VSX1) and myofibroblast marker alpha smooth muscle actin(α-SMA) in keratoconus(KC). METHODS: Thirty corneal tissue were collected from KC patients after corneal transplantation and 15 normal donor corneas were obtained. All corneal tissues divided into 4 parts for different detections. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the ultrastructure of the specimens. VSX1 and α-SMA localization in cornea tissues was detected using immunofluorescence histochemistry. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR) and Western blot were performed to analyze the expression level of VSX1 and α-SMA. RESULTS: Compared to normal cornea tissue, the collagen fibers in KC stroma were distortional and attenuated and keratocytes were abnormally changed. VSX1 and α-SMA located in the corneal stroma. The mRNA and protein expression level of VSX1 in KC were about 3 times as high as that of normal tissue(P<0.001). α-SMA was hardly expressed in the normal corneas, however, its expression in the KC was about 1.5 times higher than that of the normal corneas(P<0.0001). CONCLUSION: Compared with normal corneal the expression of VSX1 and α-SMA in KC both increased. VSX1 is related to the activation of keratocytes and involved in the pathogenesis of keratoconus.

Aquathermolysis of heavy crude oil with ferric oleate catalyst

Oil-soluble catalysts could be of special significance for reducing the viscosity of heavy crude oil, because of their good dispersion in crude oil and high catalytic efficiency toward aquathermolysis. Ferric oleate was synthesized and applied as catalyst in the aquathermolysis reaction of Shengli heavy oil. It was found that ferric oleate was more efficient for heavy oil cracking than Co and Ni oleates. Besides, it was superior to oleic acid and inorganic ferric nitrate and achieved the highest viscosity reduction rate of up to 86.1%. In addition, the changes in the components of Shengli heavy oil before and after aquathermolysis were investigated by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, and ^1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Results indicated that ferric oleate contributed to a significant increase in the content of light components and decrease in the content of resin, N and S. The as-prepared ferric oleate showed good activity for reducing the viscosity and improving the quality of the heavy crude oil, showing promising application potential in aquathermolysis of heavy crude oil.

Damage of multi-layer spaced metallic target plates impacted by radial layered PELE

Three different kinds of PELE(the penetrator with lateral efficiency) were launched by ballistic artillery to impact the multi-layer spaced metal target *** lmpact velocities of the projectiles were measured by the velocity measuring *** damage degree and process of each laye r of target plate impacted by the three kinds of projectiles were *** experimental results show that all the three kinds of projectiles have the effect of expanding holes on the multi-layer spaced metal target *** the normal structure PELE(without layered) with tungsten alloy jacket and the radial layered PELE with tungsten alloy jacket,the diameters of holes on the seco nd layer of plates are 3.36 times and 3.76 times of the diameter of the projectile,re *** radial layered PELE with W/Zr-based amorphous composite jacket,due to the large number of tungsten wires dispersed after the impact,the diameter of the holes on the four-layer spaced plates can reach 2.4 times,3.04 times,5.36 times and 2.68 times of the diameter of the ***,the normal structure PELE with tungsten alloy jacket and the radial layered PELE whit tungsten alloy jacket formed a large number of fragments impact marks on the third target *** the number of fragments penetrating the third target plate is not as large as that of the normal structure PELE,the area of dispersion of fragments impact craters on the third target plate is larger by the radial layered *** radial layered PELE with W/Zr-based amorphous composite jacket released a lot of heat energy due to the impact of the matrix material,and formed a large area of ablation marks on the last three target plates.

水平轴风电机组机舱风速是机组控制的主要信号参数。机舱风速受风电机组来流湍流与风电机组近尾流影响,变化复杂,对风电机组的优化控制有重要的影响。本文采用计算流体力学(CFD)方法,对湍流风况下风电机组机舱近尾流进行了详细分析。对比研究了稳态均匀风况和湍流风况下的近尾流的结构、机舱速度分布及其对风电机组总体性能的影响。研究发现,风电机组总体性能随湍流风况波动也呈现多尺度波动特征。湍流风况下,经过滤波后的机舱风速的时间序列和来流风速的时间序列体现出很强的相关性。对于湍流风况和稳态均匀风况,叶片/风轮旋转对风电机组机舱风速波动的影响最大。湍流风况会增加风电机组机舱风速的波动频率,增大波动的幅值,削弱风轮旋转对尾流和机舱风速的影响。湍流风况使得机舱周围的流动结构更复杂。稳态均匀风况与湍流风况下叶片吸力面叶根位置处都发生了分离流动,湍流强度增大了叶根位置处的流动分离。

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is one of the main liver diseases, and its pathologic profile includes nonalcoholic fatty liver(NAFL) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH). However, there is no reliable non-invasive parameter in distinguishing NASH from NAFL in clinical practice. The present study was to find a non-invasive way to differentiate these two categories of NAFLD via lipidomic analysis. Methods: Lipidomic analysis was used to determine the changes of lipid moieties in blood from 20 NAFL and 10 NASH patients with liver biopsy. Liver histology was evaluated after hematoxylin and eosin staining and Masson’s trichrome staining. The profile of lipid metabolites in correlation with steatosis, inflammation, hepatocellular necroptosis, fibrosis, and NAFLD activity score(NAS) was analyzed. Results: Compared with NAFL patients, NASH patients had higher degree of steatosis, ballooning degeneration, lobular inflammation. A total of 434 different lipid molecules were identified, which were mainly composed of various phospholipids and triacylglycerols. Many lipids, such as phosphatidylcholine(PC)(P-22:0/18:1), sphingomyelin(SM)(d14:0/18:0), SM(d14:0/24:0), SM(d14:0/22:0), phosphatidylethanolamine(PE)(18:0/22:5), PC(O-22:2/12:0), and PC(26:1/11:0) were elevated in the NASH group compared to those in the NAFL group. Specific analysis revealed an overall lipidomic profile shift from NAFL to NASH, and identified valuable lipid moieties, such as PCs [PC(14:0/18:2), PE(18:0/22:5) and PC(26:1/11:0)] or plasmalogens [PC(O-22:0/0:0), PC(O-18:0/0:0), PC(O-16:0/0:0)], which were significantly altered in NASH patients. In addition, PC(14:0/18:2), phosphatidic acid(18:2/24:4) were positively correlated with NAS;whereas PC(18:0/0:0) was correlated positively with fibrosis score. Melatonin Augments the Effects of Fluoxetine on Depression-Like Behavior and Hippocampal BDNF–TrkB Signaling

Depression is a debilitating psychiatric disorder with a huge socioeconomic burden, and its treatment relies on antidepressants including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs). Recently, the melatonergic system that is closely associated with the serotonergic system has been implicated in the pathophysiology and treatment of depression. However, it remains unknown whether combined treatment with SSRI and melatonin has synergistic antidepressant effects. In this study, we applied a sub-chronic restraint stress paradigm, and evaluated the potential antidepressant effects of combined fluoxetine and melatonin in adult male mice. Sub-chronic restraint stress(6 h/day for 10 days) induced depression-like behavior as shown by deteriorated fur state, increased latency to groom in the splash test, and increased immobility time in the forced-swim test. Repeated administration of either fluoxetine or melatonin at 10 mg/kg during stress exposure failed to prevent depression-like phenotypes. However,combined treatment with fluoxetine and melatonin at theselected dose attenuated stress-induced behavioral abnormalities. Moreover, we found that the antidepressant effects of combined treatment were associated with the normalization of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)–tropomyosin receptor kinase B(Trk B) signaling in the hippocampus, but not in the prefrontal cortex. Our findings suggest that combined fluoxetine and melatonin treatment exerts synergistic antidepressant effects possibly by restoring hippocampal BDNF–Trk B signaling.

Short-term effects of air pollution on acute myocardial infarctions in Shanghai, China, 2013-2014

Background Although particulate matter, with diameters 〈 2.5 μm （PM2.5） and 〈 10 μm （PM10）, and other pollutants have been associated with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, the effect of pollutants on acute myocardial infarctions （AMIs） has rarely been investigated in Asia, especially in Shanghai, China. Methods Between 1 November 2013 and 27 April 2014, 972 patients from the Pudong District, Shanghai City, were assessed by the Emergency Medical Service. A case-crossover design was used to analyze exposure to air pollution and the AMI risk. Exposures to PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide （NO2）, sulphurdioxide （SO2）, and carbon monoxide （CO） were based on the mean urban background levels. The associations among AMI admissions, the included pollutants, temperature, and relative humidity were analyzed using correlation and logistic regression. Results The urban background levels of PM2.5, PM10 and CO were associated with an increased risk of AMI, unlike NO2 and SO2 levels. The OR （95% CI） for AMI were 1.16 （1.03-1.29）, 1.05 （1.01-1.16）, 0.82 （0.75-1.02）, 0.87 （0.63-1.95）, and 1.08 （1.02-1.21） for PM2.5, PM10, NO2, SO2, and CO, respectively. Increases in the air quality index （AQI） were associated with more AMI occurrences. There was no correlation between fluctuations in temperature and relative humidity with AMI hospital admissions. Conclusions Short-term exposure to moderate-serious pollution levels is associated with increased risk of AMI. Increased PM2.5, PM10 and CO levels are related to increased AMI admissions.

A Novel Method to Prepare Potassium Sodium Titanate Nanotubes

A novel method, i.e. molten salt method, was adopted to prepare potassium sodium titanate nanotubes. EDX results indicated that the ion-exchange reaction reached an equilibrium state at around 9 h. The 24 h ion-exchanged product maintained nano-tubular and its crystalline structure was consistent with that of Na2Ti2O4（OH）2 nanotubes. The nanotubes have a high specific surface area, possibly making this material a good candidate as controlled release materials, catalyst, electrode materials, etc..
