A 70-year-old female with poorly controlled diabetes developed sudden visual loss, ptosis and complete ophthalmoplegia of the right eye. Funduscopic examination showed the pale retina and the cherry red spot in the right eye. Fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography demonstrated the absence of retinal arterial filling and choroidal perfusion in the right eye even 20 minutes after injecting the dye. The patient was diagnosed with right ophthalmic artery occlusion. Computed tomography (CT) showed diffuse mucosal thickening in the right ethmoidal sinus. Based on the clinical findings and endoscopic biopsy result, mucormycosis was confirmed. Amphotericin B (40 mg/day) and ceftriaxone (2 g/day) were intravenously administered. Despite the improvement of the right ethmoidal sinusitis and the right proptosis, the patient deteriorated into a comatose state after 19 days of systemic amphotericin B therapy. Although the previous CT showed no cerebral aneurysm, a repeated CT showed newly developed posterior communicating artery aneurysm and the subarachnoid hemorrhage. Despite the amphotericin B treatment and the improvement of the sinusitis, mucormycosis could cause sudden cerebral aneurysm rupture and subarachnoid hemorrhage resulting in coma.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) employing formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI_(3)) have shown high ***,operational stability has been issued due to phase instability of α phase FAPbI_(3) at ambient *** precursors in the perovskite precursor solution has been proposed to improve not only power conversion efficiency (PCE) but also device ***,there is a controversial issue on the beneficial effect on PCE and/or stability between excess FAI and excess PbI_(2).We report here extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) of FAPbI_(3) to study local structural change and explain the effect of excess precursors on photovoltaic performance and *** films prepared from the precursor solution with excess PbI_(2)shows better stability than those from the one with excess FAI,despite similar PCE.A rapid phase transition from α phase to non-perovskite δ phase is observed from the perovskite film formed by excess ***,the (Pb-I) bond distance evaluated by the Pb L_(III)-edge EXAFS study is increased by excess FAI,which is responsible for the phase transition and poor device *** work can provide important insight into local structure-stability relation in the FAPbI_(3)-based PSCs.

This study considers an age replacement policy(ARP) for a repairable product with an increasing failure rate with and without a product warranty. As for the warranty policy to consider in association with such an age replacement policy, we adapt a renewable minimal repair-replacement warrant(MRRW) policy with 2D factors of failure time of the product and its corresponding repair time. The expected cost rate during the life cycle of the product is utilized as a criterion to find the optimal policies for both with and without the product warranty. We determine the optimal replacement age that minimizes the objective function which evaluates the expected cost rate during the product cycle and investigate the impact of several factors on the optimal replacement age. The main objective of this study lies on the generalization of the classical age replacement policy to the situation where a renewable warranty depending on 2D factors is in effect. We present some interesting observations regarding the effect of relevant factors based on numerical analysis.

Distinguishing ampullary carcinoma from pancreatic carcinoma is important because of their different prognoses. microRNAs are differentially expressed according to the tissue of origin. however, there is rare research on the differential diagnosis between the two types of cancers by microRNA in periampullary cancers. The present study was undertaken to compare microRNA profiles between ampullary and pan- creatic carcinomas using microarrays, miR-215 was most significantly overexpressed in ampullary carcinomas; whereas the expressions of miR-134 and miR-214 were significantly lower in ampuUary carcinomas than in pancreatic carcino- mas. When these discriminatory microRNAs were applied to liver metastases, they were correctly predicted for the tissue of origin. Although this study is limited by small sample size, striking difference in microRNA expression and concordant expression of discriminating microRNAs in primary tumors and metastases suggest that these novel discriminatory mi- croRNAs warrant future validation.

A 58-year-old woman, who had undergone total gastrectomy for early gastric cancer 9 years previously, visited the outpatient clinic complaining of progressive difficulty in walking for 15 d. Laboratory examinations showed macrocytic anemia and a decreased serum vitamin B12 concentration and increased serum concentrations of folate, vitamin E and copper. Magnetic resonance imaging showed multifocal high signal intensities along the posterior column of the cervical and thoracic spinal cord. Treatment consisted of intramuscular injections of vitamin B12 for 7 d, which increased her serum level of vitamin B12 to normal. This was followed by weekly intramuscular injections of vitamin B12 for another 2 wk and oral administration of vitamin B12 three times per day. After comprehensive rehabilitation for 4 wk, she showed sufficient improvements in strength and ataxic gait, enabling her to return to her normal daily activities.

Fast interfacial kinetics derived from bicontinuous three-dimensional(3D)architecture is a strategic feature for achieving fast-charging lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).One of the main reasons is its large active surface and short diffusion ***,understanding of unusual electrochemical properties still remain great challenge due to its *** this study,we proposed a nickel–tin compound(Ni_(3)Sn_(4))supported by 3D Nickel scaffolds as main frame because the Ni_(3)Sn_(4) clearly offers a higher reversible capacity and stable cycling performance than bare tin(Sn).In order to verify the role of Ni,atomic-scale simulation based on density functional theory systematically addressed to the reaction mechanism and structural evolution of Ni_(3)Sn_(4) during the lithiation *** findings are that Ni enables Ni_(3)Sn_(4) to possess higher mechanical stability in terms of reactive flow stress,subsequently lead to improve Li storage *** study elucidates an understanding of the lithiation mechanism of Ni_(3)Sn_(4) and provides a new perspective for the design of high-capacity and high-power 3D anodes for fast-charging LIBs.

The extraction and separation of aloe emodin were optimized via selective molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction. Molecularly imprinted polymer was prepared from the functional monomer, methacrylic acid and a mixture of ethanol/dodecanol（90/10, volume ratio） as porogen. It overcomes the common problems of imprin- ting biological polar compounds and shows high selectivity compared favorably with those of non-imprinted polymer and commercially available C18 and silica cartridges in similar aloe emodin tests. Good linearity was obtained be- tween 0.002 and 2.5 mg/mL（r2=0.998） with relative standard deviations below 3.3%.

Lithium–sulfur batteries(LSBs)are regarded as promising candidates for the next-generation energy storage devices owing to their high-theoretical capacity(1675 mAh g^(−1))and affordable ***,several limitations of LSBs such as the lithium polysulfide shuttle,large volume expansion,and low electrical conductivity of sulfur need to be resolved for practical *** address these limitations,herein,a multidimensional architectured hybrid(Co@CNT/nG),where Co_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles are encapsulated into threedimensional(3D)porous N-doped reduced graphene oxide interconnected with carbon nanotube(CNT)branches,is synthesized through a simple pyrolysis *** synergistic effect achieved through the homogeneously distributed and encapsulated Co_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles,the interconnected CNT branches,and the 3D hierarchical porous structure and N-doping of Co@CNT/nG significantly suppresses the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides and enhances the conversion redox kinetics for the improved sulfur *** validate this effect through various measurements including symmetric cells,Li_(2)S nucleation,shuttle currents,Tafel slopes,diffusion coefficients,and post-mortem ***,Co@CNT/nG-70S-based LSB cells achieve a high-specific capacity of 1193.1 mAh g^(−1) at 0.1 C and a low capacity decay rate of 0.030%per cycle for 700 cycles at 5 C,delivering a high areal capacity of 5.62 mAh cm^(−2) even with a loading of 6.5 mg cm^(−2).
