Biohybrid artificial muscle produced by integrating living muscle cells and their scaffolds with free movement in vivo is promising for advanced biomedical applications,including cell-based microrobotic systems and therapeutic drug delivery ***,we provide a biohybrid artificial muscle constructed by integrating living muscle cells and their scaffolds,inspired by bundled myofilaments in skeletal ***,a bundled biohybrid artificial muscle was fabricated by the integration of skeletal muscle cells and hydrophilic polyurethane(HPU)/carbon nanotube(CNT)nanofibers into a fiber shape similar to that of natural skeletal *** HPU/CNT nanofibers provided a stretchable basic backbone of the 3-dimensional fiber structure,which is similar to aain-myosin *** incorporated skeletal muscle fibers contribute to the actuation of biohybrid artificial *** fact,electrical field stimulation reversibly leads to the contraction of biohybrid artificial ***,the current development of cell-actuated artificial muscle provides great potential for energy delivery systems as actuators for implantable medibot movement and drug delivery ***,the innervation of the biohybrid artificial muscle with motor neurons is of great interest for human-machine interfaces.

Changes of tear film lipid layer thickness by 3% diquafosol ophthalmic solutions in patients with dry eye syndrome

AIM: To evaluate the quantitatively changes in lipid layer thickness(LLT) when 3% diquafosol eye drop is used for dry eye patients using the tear film interferometer. METHODS: A total 124 participants(32 males, 92 females;mean age, 28.9 y) diagnosed with dry eye disease(DED) received topical instillation of 4 ophthalmic solutions in one eye: diquafosol, normal saline, 0.1% sodium hyaluronate and 0.3% gatifloxacin, in a masked manner. LLT was measured using an interferometer at baseline and 20 min after the instillation of each ophthalmic ***: Changes of LLT after instillation(nm, mean± standard error) were as follows: 12.6±2.0 for diquafosol(P<0.001), 1.2±2.2 for normal saline(P=0.301), 1.5±2.0 for hyaluronate(P=0.495), and 0.5±3.2 for gatifloxacin(P=0.884).CONCLUSION: Topical instillation of diquafosol increases tear film LLT in DED patients. Diquafosol 3% eye drop might be effective treatment option of evaporative DED with meibomian gland dysfunction.

Analysis of Herbal Medicine Prescriptions for Patients in An Academic Korean Medical Hospital:A Cross Sectional Study of Electronic Medical Records(2010–2013)

Objective： To obtain fundamental information for the standardization of herbal medicine in Korea. Methods： We analyzed the herbal medicine prescription data of patients at the Pusan National University Korean Medicine Hospital from March 2010 to February 2013. We used the dongui-Bogam （dong Yi Bao Jian） to classify prescribed herbal medicines. Results： The study revealed that the most frequently prescribed herbal medicine was ‘Liuwei Dihuang Pill （LWDHP, 六味地黄丸）＇ which was used for invigorating ‘Shen （Kidndy）-yin＇. ‘LWDHP＇ was most frequently prescribed to male patients aged 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-89 years, and ‘Xionggui Tiaoxue Decoction （XGTXD, 芎归调血饮）＇ was most frequently prescribed to female patients aged 30-39 and 40-49 years. According to the International Classification of Diseases （ICD） codes,‘Diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue＇ showed the highest prevalence. ‘LWDHP＇ and ＇XGTXD＇ was the most frequently prescribed in categories 5 and 3, respectively. Based on the percentage of prescriptions for each sex, ‘Ziyin Jianghuo Decoction （滋阴降火汤）＇ was prescribed to mainly male patients, and ‘XGTXD＇ with ‘Guima Geban Decoction （桂麻各半汤）＇ were prescribed to mainly female patients. Conclusion： This study analysis successfully determined the frequency of a variety of herbal medicines, and many restorative herbal medicines were identified and frequently administered.

Shape Estimation of Soft Manipulator Using Stretchable Sensor

The soft robot manipulator is attracting attention in the surgical fields with its intrinsic softness,lightness in its weight,and safety toward the human ***,it cannot be used widely because of its difficulty of *** control a soft robot manipulator accurately,shape sensing is *** paper presents a method of estimating the shape of a soft robot manipulator by using a skin-type stretchable sensor composed of a multiwalled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)and silicone(p7670).The sensor can be easily fabricated and applied by simply attaching it to the surface of the soft *** its fabrication,MWCNT is sprayed on a teflon sheet,and liquid-state silicone is poured on *** curing,we turn it over and cover it with another silicone *** sensor is fabricated with a sandwich structure to decrease the hysteresis of the *** calibration and determining the relationship between the resistance of the sensor and the strain,three sensors are attached at 120°*** the obtained data,the curvature of the manipulator is calculated,and the entire shape is *** validate its accuracy,the estimated shape is compared with the camera *** experiment with three,six,and nine sensors attached,and the result of the error of shape estimation is *** a result,the minimum tip position error is approximately 8.9 mm,which corresponded to 4.45%of the total length of the manipulator when using nine sensors.
