A recessive gene controlling male sterility sensitive to short daylength/low temperature in wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)

Utilization of a two-line breeding system via photoperiod-thermo sensitive male sterility has a great potential for hybrid production in wheat （Triticum aestivum L.）. 337S is a novel wheat male sterile line sensitive to both short daylength/Iow temperature and long daylength/high temperature. Five F2 populations derived from the crosses between 337S and five common wheat varieties were developed for genetic analysis. All Fl＇s were highly fertile while segregation occurred in the F2 populations with a ratio of 3 fertile：l sterile under short daylength/Iow temperature. It is shown that male sterility in 337S was controlled by a single recessive gene, temporarily designated as wptms3. Bulked segregant analysis （BSA） coupled with simple sequence repeat （SSR） markers was applied to map the sterile gene using one mapping population. The wptms3 gene was mapped to chromosome arm 1BS and flanked byXgwm413 and Xgwm182 at a genetic distance of 3.2 and 23.5 cM, respectively. The accuracy and efficiency of marker-assisted selection were evaluated and proved essential for identifying homozygous recessive male sterile genotypes of the wptms3 gene in F2 generation.

Laser heating process of materials is a complex heat transfer problem involved with laser beam, workpiece and ambience. In particular, variable convective boundary condition has great influence on temperature field distribution and processing quality. However, in the previous studies of temperature field抯 solution, convective boundary condition was either simplified or ignored which affected calculation accuracy and precision. In this paper, an analytical solution for the temperature field with convective boundary condition is obtained using Laplace transforms. Moreover, the dimensionless parameters are identified appropriately. Influence of dimensionless distance (x′), dimensionless time (t ), dimensionless energy absorption at surface (M) and Biot number (Bi) on dimensionless temperature (T′) have been investigated. The results show: as Bi is increased, the effects of the heat convection become more pronounced and make the location of the peak temperature move away from the surface. The method of thermocamera is used to validate the analytical solution for pulsed laser heating process with convective boundary condition and the ideal results are obtained. The present study provides the theoretical basis for improving the understanding of physical process, exact modelling and quality controlling of laser welding and surface treatment.

Brittle structures in rock of different ages can be used to establish the tectonic evolution of an orogenic belt through paleostress calculations. Micangshan is located at the southern margin of the Qinling orogenic belt, between the SE-trending Longmenshan fold-and-thrust belt and the arcuate Dabashan thrust-and-fold belt. Structural observations revealed that the dominant structures are reverse and strike-slip faults and folds with E-W and NE-SE trends. To increase knowledge of the tectonic evolution of the Micangshan anticlinorium, faults, joints, veins, and folds were measured at more than eighty sites. On the basis of structural analysis, it emerged that the multiphase paleostress fields became established after the oblique collision between the North and South China plates. The earliest stress field with N-S compression was established during the Micangshan uplift associated with the E-W trending faults and folds. Subsequently, a N-S extension occurred when the Qinling orogenic belt collapsed. Then NW-SE compression developed, with NE trending faults and folds forming in relation to Longmenshan thrusting toward southwest on the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau. With the development of the arcuate Dabashan orogenic belt, the compression stress orientation of the Micangshan anticlinorium altered from NE-SW to E-W.

BACKGROUND Reflux esophagitis(RE) is a common digestive disorder, and its frequent recurrences cause significant physical pain and are financially burdensome to patients. However, studies on the natural history of treated RE are few. Although proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) as the first-line treatment provide notable symptomatic relief, disordered gut microbiota has been observed among PPI users. Probiotics are commonly administered to patients to regulate the disordered intestinal *** To evaluate the therapeutic effects in RE patients treated with a combination of esomeprazole and probiotics [Bacillus subtilis(B. subtilis) and Enterococcus faecium(E. faecium)].METHODS One hundred and thirty-four RE patients were randomized into two groups of 67 subjects each. The probiotics group was administered with esomeprazole 20 mg b.i.d. and live combined B. subtilis and E. faecium enteric-coated capsules 500 mg t.i.d. for eight weeks; the placebo group was administered with esomeprazole 20 mg b.i.d. and placebo for eight weeks. Subsequently, 12-wk follow-up was carried out on patients who achieved both endoscopic and clinical cure. Endoscopy,reflux diagnostic questionnaire(RDQ), gastrointestinal symptom rating scale(GSRS), and lactulose hydrogen breath test were performed to evaluate the therapeutic effects. A difference of P 0.05). However, the GSRS diarrhea syndrome score was decreased significantly in the probiotics group(P = 0.002),and the small intestinal bacterial overgrowth negative rate in the probiotics group was significantly higher than that in the placebo group(P = 0.002).
