Metabolic(dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)affects a third of the population and is a leading cause of liver-related *** no effective treatments exist,novel approaches to drug development are ***,outdated terminology and definitions of the disease are hampering efforts to develop new drugs and *** international consensus panel has put forth an influential proposal for the disease to be renamed from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)to MAFLD,includ-ing a proposal for how the disease should be *** allies with the many stakeholders in MAFLD care―including patients,patients’advocates,clinicians,researchers,nurse and allied health groups,regional societies,and others―we are aware of the negative consequences of the NAFLD term and *** share the sense of urgency for change and will act in new ways to achieve our *** there is much work to be done to overcome clinical inertia and reverse worrisome recent trends,the MAFLD initiative provides a firm foundation to build *** provides a roadmap for moving for-ward toward more efficient care and affordable,sustainable drug and device innovation in MAFLD *** hope it will bring promising new opportunities for a brighter future for MAFLD care and improve care and outcomes for patients of one of the globe’s largest and costliest public health *** this viewpoint,we have revisited this initiative through the perspectives of drug development and regulatory science.

目的采用欧洲脊柱体模(European spine phantom,ESP)和志愿者用常用不同品牌的双能X线吸收测量仪(dual energy X-ray absorptiometry,DXA)测量的脊柱和髋部骨密度(bone mineral density,BMD)值进行体模校准和体内交叉校准,为建立统一的中国人群骨密度参考数据库,实现全国不同品牌DXA T值的标准化提供基础数据。方法采用FUJIFILM、GE-Lunar、Hologic、Medilink和Osteosys 5个品牌的DXA。体模校准实验使用同一个ESP(编号SN 145)在每个扫描仪上扫描10次,每次重新定位。体内交叉校准研究在同一天使用GE-Lunar iDXA系统和其他4家品牌之一的DXA对100名20~80岁健康志愿者进行腰椎(L1-4)和髋部扫描。采用SPSS 22.0完成线性回归分析,将FUJIFILM、Hologic、Medilink和Osteosys的脊柱、股骨颈和全髋BMD与GE-Lunar相对应部位的BMD进行交叉校准。并根据一个采用GE-Lunar DXA的75321名20岁及以上中国成年人全国性骨密度调查数据库计算正常参考值,采用本次体内交叉校准换算方程推导出其他4种品牌DXA的等效青年人参考数据库。结果GE-Lunar、FUJIFILM、Hologic、Medilink和Osteosys DXA的ESP L2-4 BMD(单位:g/cm^(2))均值分别为1.170±0.005、0.930±0.005、0.980±0.005、1.000±0.009和1.100±0.003,各品牌间BMD差异有统计学意义(Pr测量值高度相关,Pearson相关系数r为0.911~0.982,并计算出每种DXA的BMD值与GE相应部位BMD值的换算公式。列出5家DXA等效中国青年人骨密度参考范围,实现这些DXA设备扫描同一患者时计算的T值一致。结论本研究提供了国内5种品牌DXA的ESP和体内交叉校准数据以及换算公式,获得了统一的中国人DXA骨密度正常参考值,为实现全国DXA脊柱和髋部骨密度T值的标准化提供基础数据。

“Doubling” of local photon emissions when two simultaneous, spatially-separated, chemiluminescent reactions share the same magnetic field configurations

The aim of the present experiments was to discern if the “entanglement”-like photon emissions from pairs of cell cultures or human brains separated by significant distances but sharing the same circling magnetic field could be demonstrated with a classic chemiluminescent reaction produced by hydrogen peroxide and hypochlorite. Simultaneous injection of the same amount of peroxide into a local dish (above a photomultiplier tube) and a dish 10 m away in a closed chamber produced a “doubling” of the durations of the photon spikes only when the two reactions were placed in the center of separate spaces around each of which magnetic fields were generated as accelerating group velocities containing decreasing phase modulations followed by decelerating group velocities embedded with increasing phase modulations. The duration of this “entanglement” was about 8 min. These results suggest that separate distances behave as if they were “the same space” if they are exposed to the same precise temporal configuration of magnetic fields with specific angular velocities.

Free radical damage has been implicated in ageing and in certain degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Ageing is also associated with a progressive decline in the function of the immune system and an increased susceptibility to infection. Antioxidants protect the body from free radical damage. Vitamin E is the major antioxidant vitamin in body tissues and is considered the first line of defense against cell membrane damage. Other antioxidant defenses that protect the body from free radical damage include vitamin C and beta carotene. Yogurt is considered a healthy food product and its sales have been steadily increasing over the past 5 years. The objective was to study the influence of various antioxidants on the quality characteristics of yogurt. The antioxidants Vitamin C, vitamin E and beta carotene individually and in combination were incorporated at 100% of their respective recommended dietary allowance of 60 mg, 12 mg and 3 mg in 240 mL of yogurt. Yogurt manufacture and all experiments were conducted in triplicate. Use of antioxidants in yogurt manufacture significantly influenced yogurt viscosity, flavor, appearance, body texture but did not influence syneresis, lactic acid bacterial counts and *** upon the application antioxidants can be recommended in yogurt manufacture.

＜正＞ In the last two years a dramatic increase in the use of underfloor air conditioning has occurred in Europe and the Far East. This is partly due to greater awareness of the suitability of the system in commercial office use, but also because of changes in business *** paper will use examples of projects, which currently use the underfloor system to highlight the customer and developer benefits that are available. It is primarily concerned with the concepts and major design issues that surround the system. These include the impact on construction cost, in addition to program and life costing （analysis）. It will draw on research undertaken on the normal performance of concrete slabs, and how these can be used as thermal stores along with computer simulated temperature pick up in floor *** supply and return systems （Constant volume supply/variable volume introduction） and floor supply and room or ceiling return systems （Variable volume supply/variable volume introduction） are discussed and compared with conventional ceiling based systems. Issues such as air quality, energy consumption, environmental impacts and demand on world resources, staff comfort and other topical matters related to current construction techniques will be raised throughout.

Background:Cholera is endemic in Guinea,having suffered consecutive outbreaks from 2004 to 2008 followed by a lull until the 2012 *** we describe the temporal-spatial and behavioural characteristics of cholera cases in Conakry during a three-year period,including the large-scale 2012 ***:We used the national and African Cholera Surveillance Network(Africhol)surveillance data collected from every cholera treatment centre in Conakry city from August 2011 to December *** prevalence of suspect and confirmed cholera cases,the case fatality ratio(CFr),and the factors associated with suspected cholera were described according to three periods:pre-epidemic(A),epidemic 2012(B)and post epidemic(C).Weekly attack rates and temporal-spatial clustering were calculated at municipality level for period *** was confirmed by culture at the cholera national reference ***:A total of 4559 suspect cases were reported:66,4437,and 66 suspect cases in periods A,B and C,*** the 204 suspect cases with culture results available,6%,60%,and 70%were confirmed in periods A,B,and C,*** 0.3%,the CFr was significantly lower in period B than in periods A(7.6%)and C(7.1%).The overall attack rate was 0.28%in period B,ranging from 0.17%to 0.31%across ***,a cluster of cases was identified in two districts in the northern part of *** 14%,rice water stools were less frequent in period A than in period B and C(78%and 84%).Dehydration(31%vs 94%and 89%)and coma(0.4%vs 3.1%and 2.9%)were lower during period B than in periods A and *** treatment of drinking water was less frequent in period A,while there were more reports of recent travel in period ***:The epidemic dynamic and the sociological description of suspect cases before,during,and after the large-scale epidemic revealed that the Vibrio cholerae was already present before the ***,it appeared that infected individuals react
