Background: Early and non-invasive diagnosis of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia remains critical in dark skinned babies of low resource settings. Objective: To assess correlation/agreement between transcutaneous bilirubin (Tcb) and serum bilirubin (Tsb) values in full term neonates with jaundice. Methodology: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted at the neonatology unit of the Essos Hospital Centre (EHC) from January to June 2019. All full-term neonates aged 0 to 7 days with suspected jaundice who did not receive phototherapy were eligible for the study. The enrolled neonates in the study were assessed clinically, then with the MBJ20 transcutaneous bilirubinometer (TcB). The MBJ20 transcutaneous bilirubinometer highest measurement over the forehead and the sternum were compared to TsB. Data were entered and then analysed with the CsPro7.2 and R (version 3.6.0) software. Correlation was captured by Bland & Alman plots and Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC) estimates. The Pearson correlation coefficient and Student test for paired data were used for descriptions purposes, and the significance level was 5%. Results: We recruited 88 neonates. The sex ratio of the babies included was 1.25 favouring males. Median Post-natal age was 3 days with 62% aged 72 hours or more. The mean TcB corresponding to the maximum average between frontal and sternal measurement was 153 mg/dl ± 48 and the average Tsb was 123.80 mg/dl ± 50.48. A good linear correlation was found between TcB and total serum bilirubin level r = 0.86 [0.80;0.91]. Positive correlation was noted between both (forehead and sternum) TcB measurements sites, namely r = 0.78 and r = 0.86. The Bland & Altman plot measured the bias at -29.68 mg/l (confidence interval at 95%, 21.14 - 80.50). The CCC estimate was 0.2 varying from -0.22 to 0.76 according to TcB measurement threshold and post-natal age. Primary and secondary organic aerosols in PM_(2.5)were investigated over a one-year campaign at Zouk Mikael and Fiaa,*** n-alkanes concentrations were quite similar at both sites(26-29 ng/m^(3))and mainly explained by anthropogenic emissions rather than natural *** concentrations of total Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs)were nearly three times higher at Zouk Mikael(2.56 ng/m^(3))compared to Fiaa(0.95 ng/m^(3)),especially for indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene linked to the presence of the power plant.A characteristic indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene/(indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene+benzo[g,h,i]perylene)ratio in the range0.8-1.0 was determined for heavy fuel oil combustion from the power *** acids and hopanes were also investigated and were assigned to cooking activities and vehicular emissions *** were identified for the first time in Lebanon with high concentrations at Zouk and Fiaa(106.88 and 97.68 ng/m^(3) respectively).Moreover,the biogenic secondary aerosols revealed higher concentrations in *** total terpene concentration varied between 131 ng/m^(3) at Zouk Mikael in winter to 469 ng/m3 at Fiaa in ***,the concentrations of the dicarboxylic acids especially for adipic and phthalic acids were more influenced by anthropogenic *** analysis of molecular markers and diagnostic ratios indicated that the sites were strongly affected by anthropogenic sources such as waste open burning,diesel private generators,cooking activities,road transport,power plant,and industrial ***,results showed different pattern during winter and summer ***,higher concentrations of biogenic markers were clearly encountered during the summer period.

中医以整体观来认识人的健康与疾病防治,在中国的应用已有数千年历史,传向国际亦有百余年。但是中医与现代医学在疾病理论机理上有很多差别。在现代医学中,免疫学是最复杂的系统之一,是针对病原体的整体防御系统,通过系统平衡调节参与疾病的发生与进展。特别值得一提的是,中医与免疫学在整体观、防御机制、平衡调节,昼夜时辰等方面有着共通之处。本综述重点关注中医和免疫学之间的相同与不同,用现代免疫学的数据阐明传统中医理论的生物学机理。我们相信不断进步的多组学技术,可以深入诠释中医理论机理,用现代免疫学数据为中医的治疗原理和应用疗效提供更多的生物学证据。

Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is a rare systemic autoimmune disorder that damages multiple organs simultaneously and is associated with chronic inflammation, in which the signs of systemic sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and polymyositis can co-occur. Its distinctive feature and the basis for the diagnosis of MCTD is the presence of an antibody against the uridine-rich RNP of the cell nucleus (Anti-U1-RNP). It has been observed that intercurrent infections can trigger autoimmune diseases, however, the fact that viral infections—such as SARS-CoV-2—induce them is currently poorly understood. The present study raises the etiological role of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the development of the disease. Authors describe the case of a 38-year-old patient in good general condition, who was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease three months after COVID-19 infection.

Solid waste is a promising renewable fuel that can substitute conventional fuel. According to the researchers, thermoconversion of solid waste such as municipal solid waste or residual household waste (RHW) is beneficial to society. However, due to its heterogeneity, the gasification of RHW is more complex. This review article discusses the steps that RHW must undergo before its thermoconversion and the state of the art of solid waste gasification. First, characterisation methods of RHW are surveyed. Second, the properties of RHW, the production lines of refuse derived fuel (RDF) from RHW, the influence of RDF composition and operating parameters such as equivalence ratio and temperature are reviewed. Moreover, RDF gasification products, scientific barriers and proposed solutions are evaluated. In conclusion, concerning emissions, costs and technical aspects related to each thermochemical process, it can be said that gasification is a promising technique for the recovery of RHW. However, studies on cogasification of waste and biomass on a pilot-industrial scale are still scarce and synergistic effects of this cogasification need to be clarified.
