Buried bumper syndrome(BBS) is an uncommon but serious complication of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. It involves the internal fixation device, or "bumper", migrating into the gastric wall and subsequent mucosal overgrowth. We described a case series of four patients with BBS treated with a novel endoscopic technique using a Hook Knife between June 2016 and February 2017. The Hook Knife is a rotating L-shaped cutting wire designed for hooking tissue and pulling it away from the gastric wall towards the lumen. The technique was successful in all four cases with no complications. Each patient was discharged on the day of treatment. The Hook Knife is a manoeuvrable, safe and effective device for endoscopic removal of buried bumpers and could avoid surgery in a high risk group of patients. To our knowledge this technique has not been described previously. We suggest that this technique should be added to the treatment algorithms for managing BBS.

In this study the medium-term response of beach profiles was investigated at two sites： a gently sloping sandy beach and a steeper mixed sand and gravel beach. The former is the Duck site in North Carolina, on the east coast of the USA, which is exposed to Atlantic Ocean swells and storm waves, and the latter is the milford-on-Sea site at Christchurch Bay, on the south coast of England, which is partially sheltered from Atlantic swells but has a directionally bimodal wave exposure. The data sets comprise detailed bathymetric surveys of beach profiles covering a period of more than 25 years for the Duck site and over 18 years for the milford-on-Sea site. The structure of the data sets and the data-driven methods are described. Canonical correlation analysis （CCA） was used to find linkages between the wave characteristics and beach profiles. The sensitivity of the linkages was investigated by deploying a wave height threshold to filter out the smaller waves incrementally. The results of the analysis indicate that, for the gently sloping sandy beach, waves of all heights are important to the morphological response. For the mixed sand and gravel beach, filtering the smaller waves improves the statistical fit and it suggests that low-height waves do not play a primary role in the medium-term morohological resoonse, which is primarily driven by the intermittent larger storm waves.

A mechanically fluidized reactor （mFR） is a novel and compact reactor used for biomass pyrolysis. Endothermic biomass pyrolysis requires heat provided from the wall of the mFR. meanwhile, mixing with a vertical stirrer helps achieve effective heat transfer from the wall to the bed. Here, the heat trans- fer characteristics between the wall of a 1.0-L mFR and its bed of mechanically fluidized sand particles were studied. An induction heating system was used to heat the wall, while a vertical blade stirrer was used for mixing. Heat transfer measurements were carried out using silica sand particles, having three average Sauter mean diameters： 190, 300, and 600 p.m. The overall wall-to-bed heat transfer coeffi- cients were estimated using temperature measurements taken during continuous injection of water onto the fluidized bed. The overall heat transfer coefficient for bed temperatures of 500-700℃ increased as particle size increased or superficial velocity of the vaporized liquid increased. Effect of impeller rotation speed also was investigated. Typically, the overall heat transfer coefficient increased as rotation speed increased. The wall-to-bed heat transfer coefficients obtained in this study are comparable to estimates from traditional bubbling fluidized beds, even at vapor velocities below the minimum fluidization veloccity.

The minimum fluidization velocity(U_(mf))is a key parameter for the scale-up of inverse liquid-solid flu-idized *** predictions using common correlations were compared against experimental minimum fluidization velocity measurements of low density(28-638 kg/m^(3)),0.80-1.13 mm Styrofoam particles in a fluidized bed with a height of 4.5 m and 0.2 m *** average absolute relative deviation for the predicted minimum fluidization velocity for particles below 300 kg/m^(3) was above 40%using the studied common correlations.A modified Wen and Yu correlation was thus proposed based on novel and past measurements with low-density and small-diameter particles,expanding the range for predicting U_(mf).The new correlation predicted U_(mf) with deviations below 15%for ST028,ST122 and *** modified correlation also improved U_(mf) predictions for comparable particles from a previous study,demonstrating its validity for a larger range of low-density particles.

Four new ruthenium phthalocyanine complexes bearing axial ligands with thioacetate groups that facilitate thin fi lm formation on gold surfaces are *** tunnelling microscopy(STm)images and surface coverage data obtained by solution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-mS)experiments show that peripheral and axial ligand substituents on the complexes have a signifi cant effect on their surface coverage.A laser ablation ICP-mS technique that provides information about thin films across macro-sized areas is described here for the fi rst *** the technique,the maximum surface coverage of a ruthenium phthalocyanine complex was found to occur within one minute of gold substrate immersion in the complex-containing solution.

Isotropy in microstructure and mechanical properties remains a challenge for laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)processed materials due to the epitaxial growth and rapid cooling in *** this study,a high-strength TiB_(2)/Al-Cu composite with random texture was successfully fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)using pre-doped TiB_(2)/Al-Cu composite powder.A series of advanced characterisation techniques,including synchrotron X-ray tomography,correlative focussed ion beam-scanning electron microscopy(FIB-SEm),scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEm),and synchrotron in situ X-ray diffraction,were applied to investigate the defects and microstructure of the as-fabricated TiB_(2)/Al-Cu composite across multiple length *** study showed ultra-fine grains with an average grain size of about 0.86μm,and a random texture was formed in the as-fabricated condition due to rapid solidification and the TiB_(2)particles promoting heterogeneous *** yield strength and total elongation of the as-fabricated composite were 317 mPa and 10%,*** contributions of fine grains,solid solutions,dislocations,particles,and Guinier-Preston(GP)zones were *** was found to be initiated from the largest lack-of-fusion pore,as revealed by in situ synchrotron tomography during tensile *** situ synchrotron diffraction was used to characterise the lattice strain evolution during tensile loading,providing important data for the development of crystal-plasticity models.

Flaxseed proteins and antioxidant peptides(AP)encrypted in their sequences were analysed in silico with a range of bioinformatics tools to study their physicochemical properties,allergenicity,and *** proteases(digestive,plant and microbial sources)were assessed for their ability to release known APs from 23 mature flaxseed storage proteins using the BIOPEP *** families of proteins identified were predominantly globulins,oleosins,and small amount of ***,253 APs were identified from these *** peptides were released by enzymatic hydrolysis from the globulins than those from oleosins and *** with other enzymes studied,the plant proteases(papain,ficin,and bromelain)were found to be superior to releasing APs from the flaxseed *** of toxicity by ToxinPred showed that none of the peptides released was *** of the APs showed structural features that are important for antioxidation,including relatively low molecular weight(dipeptides and tripeptides only);amphipathic properties(hydrophobicity range of-0.5 to+0.5);relatively low Boman index(≤2);broad range of pI(3.7-10.8),and an abundance of antioxidant amino acid residues(*** acid and histidine).This study demonstrate the suitability of flaxseed proteins as a source of APs.

AIm: To determine the feasibility and potential role of combining radiostereometric analysis(RSA), gait analysis and activity monitoring in the follow-up of fracture ***: Two patients with similar 41B3 tibial plateau fractures were treated by open reduction internal fixation augmented with impaction bone grafting and were instructed to partial weight bear to 10 kg for the first six postoperative weeks. Fracture reduction and fixation were assessed by postoperative computer tomographic(CT) scanning. Both patients had tantalum markers inserted intra-operatively to monitor their fracture stability during healing using RSA and differentially loaded RSA(DLRSA) at 6 and 12 wk postoperatively. Gait analyses were performed at 1, 2, 6, and 12 wk postoperatively. Activity monitors were worn for 4 wk between the 2 and 6 wk appointments. In addition to gait analysis, knee function was assessed using the patient reported Lysholm scores, and doctor reported knee range of motion and stability, at 6 and 12 wk ***: There were no complications. CT demonstrated that both fractures were reduced anatomically. Gait analysis indicated that Patient 1 bore weight to 60% of body weight at 2 wk postoperative and 100% at 6 wk. Patient 2 bore weight at 10% of body weight to 6 wk and had very low joint contact forces to that time. At 12 wk however, there was no difference between the gait patterns in the two patients. Patient 1 increased activities of moderate-vigorous intensity from 20 to 60 min/d between 2 and 6 postoperative weeks, whereas Patient 2 remained more stable at 20-30 min/d. The Lysholm scores were similar for both patients and did not improve between 6 and 12 wk postoperatively. DLRSA examination at 12 wk showed that both patients were comfortable to weight bear to 80 kg and under this weight the fractures displaced less than 0.4 mm. RSA measurements demonstrated over time fracture migrations of less than 2 mm in both cases. However, Patient 2, who
