Sufficient fault ride-through(FRT)of large wind power plants(WPPs)is essential for the operation security of transmission *** majority of studies on FRT do not include all disturbances originating in the transmission system or the disturbances irrelevant to the operation *** on the knowledge of power quality,this paper provides a guide to stakeholders in different aspects of FRT for wind turbines(WTs)and *** paper details the characteristics of the most common disturbances originated in the transmission system,how they propagate to the WT terminals,and how they impact the dynamic behavior of a large *** paper shows that the details of the voltage disturbances,not only in the transmission system,but also at the WT terminals,should be taken into ***,a detailed representation or characterization of voltage dips is important for FRT studies,despite that the simplified models used in the literature are *** paper strongly recommends that distinct events and additional characteristics such as the phase-angle jump and oscillations in the transition segments should be considered in FRT analysis.

The intra and extracellular pathways of hepatic injury by coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)are still being *** them is important to treat this viral disease and other liver and biliary tract ***,this paper aims to present three hypotheses about liver injury caused by COVID-19:(1)The interactions between severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 spike protein and membrane receptors in the hepatocyte;(2)The dysbiosis and"gutliver axis"disruption in patients with serious clinical presentations of COVID-19;and(3)The inflammatory response exacerbated through the production of interleukins such as ***,despite these new perspectives,the pathophysiological process of liver injury caused by COVID-19 is still complex and ***,understanding all these variables is a challenge to science but also the key to propose individualized and effective patient therapies.

The point of zero salt effect （PZSE） is the soil pH value at which the magnitude of the variable surface charges is not changed due to variations in the ionic concentration of the soil solution. This property influences not only electrochemical phenomena occurring at the solid-solution interface but also the flocculation degree of the soil particles. In this study we investigated the relationships between the clay mineralogy and the PZSE values of representative soils of the Sāo Paulo State, Brazil. The results confirmed the usefulness of the difference between the soil pH values measured in 1 mol L^-1 KCl （pHKCl） and in water （pHH2O）（2 pHKCl-pHH2O） for estimating the PZSE of tropical soils, except for the ones rich in exchangeable Al; furthermore, the ApH index （pHKC1 - pHH2O） was highly correlated with the difference between the PZSE and pHH2O values, reiterating the △pH utility for estimating both the signal and the magnitude of the net surface charge of tropical soils. Finally, correlation and multiple regression analyses showed that the PZSE value of weathered non-allophanic tropical soils tends to increase and to equal the soil pH due to the weathering-induced kaolinite destabilization and concomitant Fe- and Al-oxide accumulation.

Interference of iron as a coagulant on MIB removal by powdered activated carbon adsorption for low turbidity waters

Powered activated carbon （PAC） is widely used in water treatment plants to minimize odors in drinking water. This study investigated the removal of 2-methylisoborneol （MIB） by PAC adsorption, combined with coagulation using iron as a coagulant. The adsorption and coagulation process were studied through different case scenarios of jar tests. The analysis evaluated the effect of PAC dosing in the liquid phase immediately before or after the coagulant addition. Ferric sulphate was used as the coagulant with dosages from 10 to 30 mg/L, and PAC dosages varied from 10 to 40 mg/L. The highest MIB removal efficiency （about 70%） was achieved without the coagulant addition and with the highest PAC dosage （40 mg/L）. Lower MIB removal efficiencies were observed in the presence of coagulant, showing a clear interference of the iron precipitate or coagulant in the adsorption process. The degree of interference of the coagulation process in the MIB removal was proportional to the ratio of ferric hydroxide mass to the PAC mass. For both cases of PAC dosing, upstream and downstream of the coagulant injection point, the MIB removal efficiency was similar. However, MIB removal efficiency was 15% lower when compared with experiments without the coagulant application. This interference in the MIB adsorption occurs potentially because the coagulant coats the surface of the carbon and interferes with the MIB coming in contact with the carbon＇s surface and pores. This constraint requires an increase of the PAC dosage to provide the same efficiency observed without coagulation.

Impact pile driving is an interesting technique for the construction of deep foundations from a practical and economical point of ***,the generalization of this technique can be restricted due to the excessive vibration levels that can be generated,which can be especially problematic in residential ***,different mitigation measures can be applied to prevent excessive vibration levels inside buildings located near construction *** compare its efficiency through a numerical prediction tool,two experimental test sites are first presented and *** the results obtained,it was found that the construction of an open trench near the impact source can be used as an efficient mitigation measure to reduce the maximum vibration levels evaluated in this study.

INTRODUCTION Seed dispersal is a key process in the life cycle of most plants,with ecological and evolutionary consequences that go beyond vegetation dynamics and cascade to entire ecosystem functioning and stability(Traveset et al.2014).Seed dispersal largely constrains plant recruitment and the distribution of future plant cohorts,thus playing a critical role in the restoration of disturbed sites(Cain et al.2000;Higgins et al.2003).It can also threaten plant diversity by facilitating plant invasions(Vavra et al.2007;Heleno 2020).

Stem cells represent a promising step for the future of regenerative medicine. As they are able to differentiate into any cell type, tissue or organ, these cells are great candidates for treatments against the worst diseasesthat defy doctors and researchers around the world. Stem cells can be divided into three main groups:(1) embryonic stem cells;(2) fetal stem cells; and(3) adult stem cells. In terms of their capacity for proliferation, stem cells are also classified as totipotent, pluripotent or multipotent. Adult stem cells, also known as somatic cells, are found in various regions of the adult organism, such as bone marrow, skin, eyes, viscera and brain. They can differentiate into unipotent cells of the residing tissue, generally for the purpose of repair. These cells represent an excellent choice in regenerative medicine, every patient can be a donor of adult stem cells to provide a more customized and efficient therapy against various diseases, in other words, they allow the opportunity of autologous transplantation. But in order to start clinical trials and achieve great results, we need to understand how these cells interact with the host tissue, how they can manipulate or be manipulated by the microenvironment where they will be transplanted and for how long they can maintain their multipotent state to provide a full regeneration.
