Hydrocephal.s is a neurol.gical.condition characterized by al.ered cerebrospinal.fl.id (CSF) fl.w l.ading to an accumul.tion of CSF inside the cranial.vaul.. Neuropathogenesis associated with hydrocephal.s has been el.cidated by pathol.gical.studies of human brains and through experimental.and genetic animal.model.. Experimental.animal.model. have been devel.ped in numerous species using a variety of methods and agents to induce hydrocephal.s or through genetic mutations in rodents. Each of these animal.model. has been described briefl. in this review, al.ng with the basic strengths and weaknesses of each model. Al.hough none of these model. can ful.y mimic the human condition, they each provide fundamental.knowl.dge contributing to understanding more about the pathogenesis of hydrocephal.s and its underl.ing causes.

In this work,we present a novel.biochemical.sensing approach based on a pl.smonic sensor chip,combined with a specific receptor,excited and interrogated via a custom 3D-printed hol.er through a transmission-based experimental.setup,expl.iting pol.mer optical.fibers. The setup is designed to measure a disposabl. pl.smonic chip based on a gol. nanograting fabricated on a pol.methyl.ethacryl.te substrate. The examined sensor configurations here presented are simul.ted,real.zed,and experimental.y tested. More specifical.y,first,a numerical.anal.sis is carried out by changing several.sensor parameters,then an experimental.optical.characterization of different sensor configurations is reported. Final.y,to test the biosensing capabil.ties of the proposed method,as a proof of concept,we deposit on the best sensor configuration a biomimetic receptor specific for bovine serum al.umin detection. The experimental.resul.s demonstrate that the proposed sensor shows an ul.ra-l.w l.mit of detection,equal.to about 37 pmol.l.

In this paper, we are interested in answering the fol.owing research question: "Is it possibl. to form effective groups in virtual.communities by expl.iting trust information without significant overhead, simil.rl. to real.user communities?"In order to answer this question, instead of adopting the l.rgel. used approach of expl.iting the opinions provided by al. the users of the community(cal.ed gl.bal.reputation), we propose to use a particul.r form of reputation, cal.ed l.cal.reputation. We al.o propose an al.orithm for group formation abl. to impl.ment the proposed procedure to form effective groups in virtual.communities. Another interesting question is how to measure the effectiveness of groups in virtual.communities. To this aim we introduce the index in a measure of the effectiveness of the group formation. We tested our al.orithm by real.zing some experimental.trial. on real.data from the real.worl. EPINIONS and CIAO communities, showing the significant advantages of our procedure w.r.t. another prominent approach based on traditional.gl.bal.reputation.
