Objective: To evaluate the morbidity due to diabetes mellitus type 2 within the State of San Luis Potosí, méxico, through a strong methodology, through which the multivariate relations were identified of the main social and environmental determiners in the disease, thus managing to quantify their respective levels of responsibility. material and methods: This evaluation began as a hypothesis of a multicasual theoretical model on diabetes mellitus and its main determining factors, which was analyzed through the application of multivariate exploratory statistical methodologies and confirmed as it is the case of the principal components analysis and the structural equation models. Results: Three components were extracted that explain the 96% of the total variance of the indicators;the main risk factors which were identified in the first component were, the use of the car, age, homes with TV use, urban life and feminine population;the indicators from the second and third component have little influence in the impact of the disease. Conclusions: the study shows the usefulness of the model for the analysis and prioritization of the environmental and social determiners of the disease, information that could sustain the design of public guidelines for the prevention and control of the analyzed disease.

BACKGROUND Life-long removal of gluten from the diet is currently the only way to manage celiac disease(CeD). Until now, no objective test has proven useful to objectively detect ingested gluten in clinical practice. Recently, tests that determine consumption of gluten by assessing excretion of gluten immunogenic peptides(GIP) in stool and urine have been developed. Their utility, in comparison with conventional dietary and analytical follow-up strategies, has not been fully *** To assess the performance of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and point-of-care tests(PoCTs) for GIP excretion in CeD patients on gluten-free diet(GFD).mETHODS We conducted an observational, prospective, cross-sectional study in patients following a GFD for at least two years. Using the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale questionnaire, patients were classified at enrollment as asymptomatic or symptomatic. Gluten consumption was assessed twice by 3-d dietary recall and GIP excretion(by ELISA in stool and PoCTs(commercial kits for stool and urine) in two consecutive samples. These samples and dietary reports were obtained 10 day apart one from the other. Patients were encouraged to follow their usual GFD during the study *** Forty-four patients were enrolled, of which 19(43.2%) were symptomatic despite being on a GFD. Overall, 83 sets of stool and/or urine samples were *** out of 44 patients(25.0%) had at least one positive GIP test. The occurrence of at least one positive test was 32% in asymptomatic patients compared with 15.8% in symptomatic patients. GIP was concordant with dietary reports in 65.9% of cases(Cohen′s kappa: 0.317). PoCT detected dietary indiscretions. Background: Probable benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, spontaneously resolved (pBPPVsr), is a variant of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) in which there is no observable nystagmus and no vertigo with any positional maneuver. Objectives: To calculate the incidence pBPPVsr, compare the characteristics of the patients with pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved and describe the spontaneous resolution in the natural course of BPPV. methods: multicenter prospective descriptive study. During a one-year period, all patients with suspected BPPV that presented to the Neurotology Units of five participating centers were recruited. The incidence of pBPPVsr was calculated as a percentage of the total number of patients with BPPV. The prevalence of several variables was compared between pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved. The timing of spontaneous resolution was estimated using Kaplan-meier curves. Results: 457 patients met the inclusion criteria. The incidence of pBPPVsr was 33.5%. It was significantly higher in males, in patients with normal bone mass and in patients who were not taking sulpiride. A rate of 18% of spontaneous resolution after the first month and 51% after the first year was found. This percentage did not change in a significant way after this moment. The curves for males, patients under 50 and patients with normal blood pressure decreased significantly faster. Conclusions: In our serie, BPPV spontaneously resolved in half of the patients with BPPV during the first year. This seemed to occur more commonly in males and could have been hindered by sulpiride intake, osteoporosis, advanced age and high blood pressure.

In mexico, the medicinal plants have been for used since ancient times and still continue to use by rural populations to treat conditions such as infectious diseases (skin, gastrointestinal or respiratory), metabolics, inflammatory problems, among others. This work includes a proposal that initiates the study and development of new biomaterials or vehicles with therapeutic application. The nanomolecular interaction of the organic extract of a plant (EOV) Distictis buccinatoria (dc) with different materials inert supports of inorganic type (bentonite, gel) determining their and combined anti-inflammatory activity is studied individually [1] [2]. The importance of the characterization of biomaterials by scanning electron microscopy (SEm) is ability to analyze the structure on the surface of materials (organic, inorganic and biological) in the micro and nanometrics levels in order to correlate it with the sample surface properties such as roughness, interfacial phenomena, etc. With this technique we can also perform the chemical analysis at different levels (micro and nano) for information on the nature and composition of the materials [3] [4]. The biomaterial shows that higher anti-inflammatory activity is to be generated through the combination of EOV-gel, the nanostructure interaction SEm shows integrated particles agglome-rated form and porous due to the presence of EOV and some flat areas indicated the gel preponderance situation generated by the low interaction between materials of organic type and polar type (gel).

Anastomosing hemangioma is a type of tumor lesion of benign behavior scarcely documented, it has been observed in renal parenchyma, testicles, ovaries and adrenal glands, it is usually prone to perirenal and renal medullary adipose tissue. In this case report, we present an anastomosed hemangioma in the right kidney of a 33-year-old woman, with previous coexistence of breast cancer, in which an unusual behavior was detected, with characteristics of vascular lesion, in this case we report: The classic conditions, its heterogeneous nature and the vascular alterations that presents in different imaging modalities.

managing documentation in a suitable way has become a critical issue for any organization. Organizations depend on the information?they store and they are required to have appropriate mechanisms to support the functional needs of information storage, management and retrieval. Currently, there are several tools in the market, both free software and proprietary license, normally named Enterprise Content management (ECm) tools, which offer relevant solutions in this context. This paper presents a comparative study among several of the most commonly used ECm tools. It starts with a systematic review of the literature to analyze possible solutions and then it defines a characterization schema instantiated in a particular case, the Regional Government of Andalusia.

The present work describes the viability of a mortar binder based on two industrial by-products: poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) particles from scrap and anhydrite (CaSO4) from fluorgypsum. mortar composites were made incorporating different amounts of PVC particles and cured at constant room temperature during various periods of time. From X-ray diffraction, it was possible to follow the hydration process and to estimate the effect of the PVC particles on anhydrite transformation to gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O). Compressive strength from uniaxial testing was measured from stress-strain curves carried out at room temperature. According to these results, the hydration rates of the composites depend on the concentration of PVC particles and there is an enhancement in their compressive strength as particle content increases, reaching values of 36 mPa after 28 days.

BACKGROUND The association between digoxin and mortality is an unclear *** older patients with atrial fibrillation(AF),where use of digoxin is frequent,the evidence of its safety is *** aim is to assess the safety of digoxin in nonagenarian patients with *** We evaluated data from 795 nonagenarian patients with non-valvular AF from the Spanish multicenter *** analyzed the relationship between digoxin and all-cause mortality with the Cox proportional-hazards *** Follow-up was 27.7±18.3 *** age was 92.5±3.8 years,and 71%of nonagenarian patients were *** was not associated with increased risk of mortality[adjusted hazard ratio(aHR)=1.16,95%CI:0.96−1.41,P=0.130].However,we found a significant increase in mortality in the subgroup with estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)mL/min per 1.73 m^(2)(aHR=2.01,95%CI:1.13−3.57,P=0.018),but not in the other subgroups of eGFR(30−59 mL/min per 1.73 m^(2) and≥60 mL/min per 1.73 m^(2)).When exploring the risk of mortality according to sex,male subgroup was associated with an in-crease in mortality(aHR=1.48,95%CI:1.02−2.14,P=0.041).This was not observed in females subgroup(aHR=1.03,95%CI:0.81−1.29,P=0.829).Based on the presence or absence of heart failure,we did not find significant differences(aHR=1.20,95%CI:0.87−1.65,P=0.268 ***=1.15,95%CI:0.90−1.47,P=0.273,respectively).CONCLUSIONS In our large registry of nonagenarian patients with AF,we did not find an association between digoxin and mortality in the total ***,in the subgroup analyses,we found an increase in mortality with the use of digoxin in men and in patients with an eGFRmL/min per 1.73 m^(2).

The biological properties of therapeutic peptides,such as their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics,are correlated with their structure and aggregation ***,we studied the aggregation properties of a therapeutic peptide(CIGB-814),currently in phase 2 clinical trial,for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis over a wide range of concentrations(μm-mm).We applied spectroscopic techniques(fluorescence,circular dichro-ism,resonance,and dynamic light scattering),atomic force microscopy,and molecular dynamics simulations to determine the aggregation mechanism of *** found that the hierarchical aggregation of CIGB-814 at micromolar concentrations was initiated by the formation of peptide ***,the peptide oligomers trigger the nucleation and growth of peptide nanostructures(cac=123μm),ultimately leading to the fibrillization of CIGB-814(cac’=508μm).These results pave the way for a deeper understanding of the CIGB-814 therapeutic activity and may give important insights on its pharmacokinetics.

The environmental impact on the planet leads to the search of new processes that are friendly with the environment and obtaining high quality products. In this sense, green chemistry is used in the generation of products through processes that do not affect the planet. In many of these processes and in general, the use of water has been depleted this resource of vital importance for the survival of living things. In mexico, 77% of water is used in agriculture;14% in the public supply;5% in the thermoelectric plants and 4% in the industry. In research presented, hydroponics is essential in the process and is defined as a technique used to reduce excessive water consumption, by providing the necessary nutrients, in addition to preventing soil erosion by allowing the growth of plants without use of ground. The potassium polyacrylate is a super-absorbent polymer (Hydrogel) capable of absorbing water up to 500 times of its weight and has a life span of 10 years. When mixed with a substrate, the required nutrient solution potassium polyacrylate allows to lengthen the interval watering and thus reducing the consumption of water from plants. morelos is the largest producer of ornamental plants in the country, due to its privileged climate and location. In the present work using the hydroponic methodology, we planted cuttings of Bethlehem New Guinea (Impatiens New Guinea) in a substrate made by 60% of coconut fiber, 20% tepojal, 20% ground sheet mixed with polymer of potassium (20 g per litre), 400 ml of Steiner nutrient solution in concentrations of 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%, varying the interval of 3-, 6-, 8- and 10-day watering. The variables considered are: concentration of chlorophyll, the plant height, leaf area, number of stems and weight dry total.
