Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(GM)(Mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(Mayer et al., 2022;AguilarHernández et al., 2023).

Sperm function testing, once commonly performed for the infertile couple before employing assisted reproductive technology （ART）, has fallen out of favour in many reproductive medicine centers throughout the world. Indeed, the most recent addition of the ＇World Health Organisation （WHO） Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Hu- man Semen＇ now groups many of these procedures into a section termed Research Procedures. In large part, this reflects the current clinical practice of bypassing the in-depth evaluation of the male partner, while assuming that if a spermatozoon can be found for intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI）, it must be a healthy cell capable of achieving fertilization. Never- theless, sperm function testing can provide valuable clinical insights into defects causing male infertility. Admittedly, in some cases, functional sperm deficiencies can be overcome using an ART. In other cases, couples will be empowered by the knowledge of the cause of their infertility, and for some couples, perhaps even the likelihood of ICSI success （relative to the spermatozoa）. The knowledge allows them to make truly informed reproductive decisions, including （perhaps） the de- cision to seek donor insemination, to adopt or to remain childless. Knowledge of the cause of their infertility may provide closure for couples and a sense of confidence regarding their choice of reproductive treatment.

Mammalian fertilization is a highly regulated process, much of which are not clearly understood. Here we presentsome information in order to elaborate a working hypothesis for this process, beginning with the sperm modifications inthe epidydimis up to sperm and egg plasmalemma interaction and fusion. We also discuss the still poorly understood ca-pacitation process, the phenomenon of sperm chemo-attraction that brings the capacitated sperm to interact with theoocyte vestments and certain aspects of the acrosome reaction. Hydropeaking,which refers to rising or falling discharges caused by the turning on or off of hydro-turbines to generate electricity,is a topic of growing interest due to its impact on fluvial *** date,most hydropeaking studies have focused on the impact of peak fluctuations on invertebrate and fish communities,but little attention has been paid to its impact on riverine plants and how functional traits may make them resistant to *** performed a review to assess how a set of 32 plant functional traits can be expressed in riverine plant species,and found evidence of how such expression affects their capacity to cope with common sources of hydropeaking disturbance(i.e.,inundation,fast water drawdown,and rapid water fluctuations linked to up-ramping and down-ramping hydropeaking operations).The information here presented can simplify the evaluation of impacts on riverine plant communities worldwide,as well as to detect suitable species to successfully restore rivers affected by hydropower production.

Cyberthreats continue their expansion,becoming more and more complex and ***,credentials and passwords are still a critical point in *** cracking can be a powerful tool to fight against cyber criminals if used by cybersecurity professionals and red teams,for instance,to evaluate compliance with security policies or in forensic *** particular systems,one crucial step in the password-cracking process is comparison or matchmaking between password-guess hashes and real *** hypothesize that using newer data structures such as Cuckoo filters could optimize this *** results show that,with a proper configuration,this data structure is two orders of magnitude more efficient in terms of size/usage compared to other data structures while keeping a comparable performance in terms of time.

Genome-wide association studies （GWAS） have successfully identified a substantial number of risk variants for prostate cancer [1-10]. In total, more than 20 single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） that predispose to prostate malignancy have been found scattered throughout the genome in coding and non-coding regions. The 8q24 chromosomal region is an intriguing locus as it harbors five independent susceptibility variants （rs10086908; rs16901979; rs620861; rs6983267; rs1447295） that span a 440-kb genomic interval devoid of genes or protein-coding transcripts.

Spermatogenesis refers to the process by which the production and development of the spermatozoa （the mature male gamete of most sexually reproducing species） occurs. It is a complex, stepwise process of sperm development, taking more than a month depending upon the species involving three specific functional phases： spermatogonial proliferation, meiosis and metamorphosis.1 Investigators have been successful in recreating this process in some species of fish; however, this whole process has never been reproduced in vitro in mammals.

Apurported global decline in sperm counts has been a source of controversy since the early 1990s. Numerous studies performed since then, as well as reanalysis of the original data, show either no changes, or even increases, in sperm concentrations over time. In this review, we discuss the 1992 meta-analysis that initiated the continuing debate on whether sperm concentrations are declining, and the com- munity discussion surrounding it over the past two decades. We also highlight studies evaluating sperm concentrations performed since the initial study that produced different results, and conclude that no definitive cause for a decrease in sperm counts has been established, and the effects of geography and environment on sperm counts are unclear.

Background:Forests are used for multiple purposes worldwide,which often include timber harvest,firewood extraction and livestock *** excessive pressure on multipurpose systems may decrease soil cover,promoting soil erosion and causing the loss of other resources,as litter and *** forestry practices can help to decrease or mitigate resource loss in the managed ***,retaining and redistributing biological legacies(***,branches,woody debris)at strategic locations can create sediment,litter,and seed-sinks in the silvopastoral *** addition,grazing management could increase or,even,decrease the success of this *** this study,we assessed the effect of branch barriers and grazing management on resource run-off/runon processes in silvopastoral systems of Arid Chaco(Córdoba,Argentina).To do this,a 2-ha area was divided in two paddocks that were randomly assigned to different grazing managements:winter *** *** randomly selected 22 water run-off paths in each paddock,and in the half of them,we build elongated branch *** each run-off path(with and without branch barriers),we recorded the amount of accumulated and lost sediment(during the rainy season),litter biomass,germinable seed bank,richness and cover of plant species,and richness and density of seedlings and saplings of woody ***:Branch barriers promoted sediment accumulation during the first and the second year of the study,depending on grazing *** temporal and spatial scale of the effect of the branch barriers also depended on grazing *** barriers also trapped litter and seeds,which may have increased the richness and density of seedlings and saplings of woody ***:By intercepting the dominant flow of erosive agents,branch barriers trapped sediment,litter,and propagules of different species.A greater amount of sediment and litter would have improved microsite quality,favouring seed germination an
