Sensibility Analysis of the Brazilian Standards for Energy Efficiency Regarding the Variation of Internal Load Density in Office Buildings in Brazilian Bioclimatic Zones 1 and 7

The RTQ-C （Technical Requirements of Quality for the Energy Performance Level of Commercial Buildings） publication classified the buildings in five efficiency levels. In RTQ-C, the evaluation can be done with two methods： a prescriptive method and a simulation one. This paper aims to identify the sensibility of the prescriptive method RTQ-C regarding the variation of equipment internal load density in office buildings in bioclimatic Zones I and 7 of the Brazilian bioclimatic zoning. The research results show that the building with walls and roof configured to meet specific prerequisites for energy efficiency Levels B and C had a lower consumption than buildings that meet the prerequisites to Level A. The study also showed that buildings with high internal load density of equipment, maximum shape factor and high, with walls and roofs with higher thermal transmittance, have lower power consumption than constructions with an envelope with greater thermal resistance. The increase in internal load density causes an increase in the internal heat generated by the large amount of equipment. In buildings with higher thermal insulation （Level A）, the internal heat is maintained in the environment, causing overheating and the need for an air conditioning system.

Urban Food Supply under Constrained Land Resources in Beijing:Potential and Optimization

The recent global food security crisis is garnering increasing attention and calls for innovative solutions to mitigate its negative impacts on people, especially the most economically vulnerable. In urban regions, this issue is aggravated by the fact that, on one hand, rapid urbanization and greater levels and diversity of food consumption associated with the growing affluence of urban inhabitants has led to rising urban food demand, while on the other hand, the rapid loss of farmland due to urban expansion or irrational sprawl and increasing extreme weather events for agricultural producers due to the impact of global climate change is sharply reducing the urban food production and local supply capacity. Therefore how to realize the urban food supply potential and optimize the utilization of the urban farmlands to enhance the local food supply rate and improve urban food security more generally is becoming a key issue. In this paper, we use the case of Beijing to examine the opportunities to enhance the supply of local, affordably priced food under existing land resource constraints, by restructuring farmland utilization. In this paper, we firstly calculate the changes in the food footprint needed by Beijing and its food self-sufficiency rate over the thirty year period from 1981 to 2011. We show that although Beijing’s food footprint has grown from 11 800 to 29 400 km2 over this 30-year period, its food self- sufficiency rate has dropped from 59.3%, 35.8%, 37.3% and 13.1% to about 39.0%, 27.0%, 6.7% and 2.2% for vegetable, fruit, grain and edible oil, respectively. Following this analysis, we calculate Beijing’ s potential food production under different agricultural production allocation scenarios. We conclude that with a proper shift of farmland use, full utilization of temporary idle land, and the development of rooftop farming, Beijing could increase its vegetable self-sufficiency rate to 60% without significantly reducing the production of other types of loc

Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) have been suggested as “anti-aging” therapies, or for improving quality of life with aging. In this study, we focus on the actions of GH in the main organs and organ systems of the human body, like skeletal muscle, bones and brain, particularly in regard to data and research on the use of GH replacement therapy in adults without growth hormone deficiency, especially elderly patients. Several different studies have been carried out to show what the effects and side effects of GH replacement in healthy people and what would be the impact in quality of life and life span. In this review, we demonstrate what answers we have so far about the effects of GH replacement in many organs and systems in healthy people.

The aims of this study were:i)to compare no-till areas in two municipalities located in different regions of Brazil,along with the influence on CO_(2)Flux and GPP,and ii)to verify the difference between environmental factors followed by the trends of these variables regarding future scenarios(ARIMA time-series model number).The study was carried out in two areas with different latitudes in the municipalities of Sinop-MT and Passo Fundo-RS,both in Brazil.A time series of 19 years was performed with data acquired by remote sensing from the following satellites:i)Landsat-8(OLI and TIRS),and ii)TERRA/AQUA(MODIS).The results propound that the spectro-temporal variables are directly influenced by soil management and agricultural practices over the observation time,with a satisfactory correlation in future predictions of the variables for the next ten years,in which presented that the variation of GPP and albedo values for the two study sites would gradually increase until 2028 and the temperature remained constant between the range of its seasonality,and CO_(2)Flux tends to decrease in its seasonality,indicating a higher CO_(2) absorption.

AIM:To assess the effects of ME-49 Toxoplasma gondii(***) strain infection on the myenteric plexus and external muscle of the jejunum in ***:Thirty rats were distributed into two groups:the control group(CG)(n = 15) received 1 m L of saline solution orally, and the infected group(IG)(n=15)inoculated with 1 m L of saline solution containing500 oocysts of M-49 *** strain *** 36 d of infection,the rats were *** with *** was confirmed by blood samples collected from all rats at the beginning and end of the *** jejunum of five animals was removed and submitted to routine histological processing(paraffin)for analysis of external muscle *** remaining jejunum from the others animals was used to analyze the general population and the NADH-diaphorase,VIPergic and nitrergic subpopulations of myenteric neurons;and the enteric glial cells(S100-IR).RESULTS:Serological analysis showed that animals from the IG were infected with the *** affecting jejunal muscle thickness was observed in the IG rats(77.02±42.71)in relation to the CG(51.40±12.34),P<*** addition,31.2%of the total number of myenteric neurons died(CG:39839.3±5362.3;IG:26766.6±2177.6;P<0.05);hyperplasia of nitrergic myenteric neurons was observed(CG:7959.0±1290.4;IG:10893.0±1156.3;P<0.05);general hypertrophy of the cell body in the remaining myenteric neurons was noted[CG:232.5(187.2-286.0);IG:248.2(204.4-293.0);P<0.05];hypertrophy of the smallest varicosities containing VIP neurotransmitter was seen(CG:0.46±0.10;IG:0.80±0.16;P<0.05)and a reduction of 25.3%in enteric glia cells(CG:12.64±1.27;IG:10.09±2.10;P<0.05)was observed in the infected ***:It was concluded that infection with oocysts of ME-49 *** strain caused quantitative and plastic alterations in the myenteric plexus of the jejunum in rats.

Immune infiltration in human tumors is a key prognostic *** this aspect it has to be noted that the publications concerning the tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs)under overweight and obesity are limited,especially in the clinical setting in particular concerning gastric *** study has shown that density of TILs consistently associated with body mass index(BMI)and density of cancer-associated adipocytes(CAA)in tumors,decreased significantly in patients with BMI>30 having high density of *** in tumor does not affect this *** with BMI>30 having high density of CAA with slight infiltrating of TILs in tumors demonstrated better overall survival than the same patients with BMI<25 whereas the same patients with BMI<25 but with low density of CAA have shown much longer overall *** of TILs in BM was not affected by both the high density of CAA and level of hypoxia in primary tumor;moreover it has not been associated with BMI as well as patients survival *** the metabolic changes that occur in obese individuals may help to pave the way for more effective treatments for patients with gastric cancer having overweight.

Association between Ebstein Anomaly and Coronary Artery Disease： A Report Case

The intention of this article is to report a case of a 26 years old man presenting a rare combination of congenital heart disease （Ebstein anomaly） and coronary artery disease. EA （Ebstein anomaly） has a prevalence of 1% of all congenital heart diseases, as CAD （coronary artery disease） has a little evidence in literature＇s registries when occurred in individuals with 40 years old or less. Therefore, this case report rises attention to the rarity of those patologies, which individually are already considerably rare and, in this case, it comes associated what turns this diagnosis excepcional, highlighting the complexity of the treatment.

Background: Motor competence and health-related fitness are important components for the development and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle in children. This study examined cross-cultural performances on motor competence and health-related fitness between Portuguese and ***: Portuguese(n = 508; 10.14 § 2.13 years, mean § SD) and U.S.(n = 710; 9.48 § 1.62 years) children performed tests of cardiorespiratory fitness(Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run), upper body strength(handgrip), locomotor skill performance(standing long jump), and object projection skill performance(throwing and kicking). Portuguese and U.S. children were divided into 2 age groups(6à9 and 10à13 years) for data analysis purposes. A twoàfactor oneàway analysis of covariance(ANOVA) was conducted with the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run, handgrip, standing long jump scores, kicking, and throwing speed(km/h) as dependent ***: Results indicated that Portuguese children, irrespective of sex, presented better performances in locomotor and cardiorespiratory performance(standing long jump and Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run) than U.S. children in both age bands. U.S. children outperformed Portuguese children during throwing and handgrip tests. Kicking tests presented gender differences: Portuguese boys and U.S. girls outperformed their internationally matched ***: Cultural differences in physical education curricula and sports participation may impact differences in motor competence and fitness development in these countries.
