BACKGROUND Total hip arthroplasty is a common surgical treatment for elderly patients with osteoporosis,particularly in postmenopausal *** such cases,highly porous acetabular components are a favorable option in achieving ***,further discussion is needed if use of such acetabular components is justified under the condition of normal bone *** To determine the features of osseointegration of two different types of titanium implants[3-dimensional(3D)-printed and plasma-coated titanium implants]in bone tissue of a distal metaphysis in a rat femur *** This study was performed on 20 white male laboratory rats weighing 300-350 g aged 6 *** were divided into two groups of 10 animals,which had two different types of implants were inserted into a hole defect(2×3 mm)in the distal metaphysis of the femur:GroupⅠ:3D-printed titanium implant(highly porous);GroupⅡ:Plasma-coated titanium *** 45 and 90 d following surgery,the rats were sacrificed,and their implanted femurs were extracted for histological *** relative perimeter(%)of bone trabeculae[bone-implant contact(BIC%)]and bone marrow surrounding the titanium implants was *** Trabecular bone tissue was formed on the 45th day after implantation around the implants regardless of their type.45 d after surgery,group I(3D-printed titanium implant)and groupⅡ(plasma-coated titanium implant)did not differ in BIC%(83.51±8.5 vs 84.12±1.73;P=0.838).After 90 d,the BIC%was higher in group I(87.04±6.99 vs 81.24±7.62;P=0.049),compared to groupⅡ.The relative perimeter of the bone marrow after 45 d did not differ between groups and was 16.49%±8.58%for groupⅠ,and 15.88%±1.73%for groupⅡ.Futhermore,after 90 d,in groupⅠthe relative perimeter of bone marrow was 1.4 times smaller(12.96±6.99 vs 18.76±7.62;P=0.049)compared to the relative perimeter of bone marrow in groupⅡ.CONCLUSION The use of a highly porous titanium implant,manufactured with 3D printing,for acetabular com

A proposed concept of outburst initiation examines the release of a large amount of gas from coal seams resulted from disintegrating thermodynamically unstable coal organic matter(COM).A coal microstructure is assumed to getting unstable due to shear component appearance triggered by mining operations and tectonic activities considered as the primary factor while COM disintegration under the impact of weak electric fields can be defined as a secondary *** energy of elastic deformations stored in the coal microstructure activates chemical reactions to tilt the energy balance in a“coal–gas”*** on this concept a mathematical model of a gas flow in the coal where porosity and permeability are changed due to chemical reactions has been *** this model we calculated gas pressure changes in the pores initiated by gas release near the working face till satisfying force and energy criteria of *** simulation results demonstrated forming overpressure zone in the area of intensive gas release with enhanced porosity and *** calculated outburst parameters are well combined with those evaluated by field measurements.

Reinforcement Learning Model for Energy System Management to Ensure Energy Efficiency and Comfort in Buildings

This article focuses on the challenges ofmodeling energy supply systems for buildings,encompassing both methods and tools for simulating thermal regimes and engineering systems within *** the comfort of living or working in buildings often necessitates increased consumption of energy and material,such as for thermal upgrades,which consequently incurs additional economic *** is crucial to acknowledge that such improvements do not always lead to a decrease in total pollutant emissions,considering emissions across all stages of production and usage of energy and materials aimed at boosting energy efficiency and comfort in *** addition,it explores the methods and mechanisms for modeling the operating modes of electric boilers used to collectively improve energy efficiency and indoor climatic *** the developed mathematical models,the study examines the dynamic states of building energy supply systems and provides recommendations for improving their *** dynamic models are executed in software environments such as MATLAB/Simscape and Python,where the component detailing schemes for various types of controllers are ***,controllers based on reinforcement learning(RL)displayed more adaptive load level *** RL-based controllers can lower instantaneous power usage by up to 35%,reduce absolute deviations from a comfortable temperature nearly by half,and cut down energy consumption by approximately 1%while maintaining *** the energy source produces a constant energy amount,the RL-based heat controllermore effectively maintains the temperature within the set range,preventing *** conclusion,the introduced energydynamic building model and its software implementation offer a versatile tool for researchers,enabling the simulation of various energy supply systems to achieve optimal energy efficiency and indoor climate control in buildings.

A method for optimization of time intervals between rolling cuts on sorting humps

Sorting humps are the main technical means providing the breaking- and making-up of freight trains. Automation of sorting process by implementing microprocessor control systems is the main direction ofincreasing hump yard capacity, enhancement of safety in trains breaking-up, improvement of working conditions on hump yards. However, for wider introduction of such systems at the humps, it is necessary to reduce their cost. One of the main tasks of hump control systems is the determination of the optimal cars exit speeds from the retarders. Its solution is significantly complicated because of the uncertainty of cars rolling resistance coefficient, wind velocity and direction, retarder control errors. The paper is aimed at solving the problem of searching for such cars exit speeds from the retarders that provide the longest time intervals between them at the switches. Implementation of this method will make it possible to improve the quality of sorting process as a whole by improving the software of microprocessor control systems for automatic humping, rather than by increasing their technical facilities, which as a result will reduce the cost of their construction and operation. The research results, when solving the problem of searching for cars exit speeds from the retarders, allow us to move from searching for the maximum of a nonlinear non-smooth function of two variables to solution of an equation with one variable, which significantlyaccelerates and simplifies the solution to the problem.

Oxygen surface exchange and oxygen chemical diffusion coefficients of LaNi_(0.4)Fe_(0.6)O_(3-δ)ceramics are determined via conductivity relaxation method after stepwise change of temperature in the range of 700-950℃in air and Ar/O2 gas flow at oxygen partial pressures(p_(o2))of 4 Pa,18 Pa,37 Pa,47 Pa and 59 *** highest conductivity(about 160 S·cm^(-1))is found at 950℃in *** oxygen exchange(δ=0)below 700℃is observed in the investigated p_(o2) *** oxygen exchange coefficients determined in reduction mode are higher than those determined in oxidation *** is explained by clusterization of oxygen vacancies on the surface of the sample investigated in oxidation *** opposite tendency is found for chemical diffusion *** surface,the oxygen vacancies of the volume region are probably not clustered and have predetermined the higher oxygen diffusion mobility of the sample treated in oxidation mode.

Electrocatalytic performance of CNTs/graphene composited rare earth phthalocyanines(M=La,Y,Yb,Sc)

In this study,a class of rare earth composite sandwich phthalocyanines(MPcs,M=La,Y,Yb,Sc) were prepared and compounded with graphene and carbon nanotubes to obtain MPc/Gr and MPc/CNTs *** electrocatalytic behaviors of MPc/Gr and MPc/CNTs electrodes were further *** results show that the central rare earth metal has a large influence on the electrocatalytic *** the MPcs/Gr samples,ScPc with the smallest ionic radius and molecular size can be more uniformly dispersed in graphene,and the hydrogen precipitation overpotential of ScPc/Gr electrode is514 mV,corresponding to a Tafel slope of 148 mV/dec,with better electrocatalytic performance than other rare earth metal *** for the MPc/CNTs composites,LaPc,which has the largest ionic radius and molecular size,is more uniformly dispersed on the surface of CNTs,so that the LaPc/CNT electrode exhibits the best LSV performance with the smallest corresponding Tafel slope(176 mV/dec).The main reason is the different binding modes of MPcs molecules in Gr and *** rare earth phthalocyanine is combined with layered graphene,the smallest size of rare earth phthalocyanine(ScPc)is more easily embedded in the graphene layer,resulting in better homogeneity of the composite,larger effective contact area and better electrocatalytic *** contrast,when rare earth phthalocyanine is bound to carbon nanotubes in a tubular structure,it is mainly bound by attaching to the surface or being entangled by the carbon *** this case,the rare-earth phthalocyanine molecules(LaPc)with larger layer spacing can provide more contact area with CNTs,forming a more uniform and effective composite,which eventually provides more active sites and better electrocatalytic performance.

Mechanisms of regulation of PFKFB expression in pancreatic and gastric cancer cells

Enzymes 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase-3 and -4 (PFKFB-3 and PFKFB-4) play a significant role in the regulation of glycolysis in cancer cells as well as its proliferation and survival. The expression of these mRNAs is increased in malignant tumors and strongly induced in different cancer cell lines by hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) through active HIF binding sites in promoter region of PFKFB-4 and PFKFB-3 genes. Moreover, the expression and hypoxia responsibility of PFKFB-4 and PFKFB-3 was also shown for pancreatic (Panc1, PSN-1, and MIA PaCa-2) as well as gastric (MKN45 and NUGC3) cancer cells. At the same time, their basal expression level and hypoxia responsiveness vary in the different cells studied: the highest level of PFKFB-4 protein expression was found in NUGC3 gastric cancer cell line and lowest in Panc1 cells, with a stronger response to hypoxia in the pancreatic cancer cell line. Overexpression of different PFKFB in pancreatic and gastric cancer cells under hypoxic condition is correlated with enhanced expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Glut1 mRNA as well as with increased level of HIF-1α protein. Increased expression of different PFKFB genes was also demonstrated in gastric, lung, breast, and colon cancers as compared to corresponding non-malignant tissue counterparts from the same patients, being more robust in the breast and lung tumors. Moreover, induction of PFKFB-4 mRNA expression in the breast and lung cancers is stronger than PFKFB-3 mRNA. The levels of both PFKFB-4 and PFKFB-3 proteins in non-malignant gastric and colon tissues were more pronounced than in the non-malignant breast and lung tissues. It is interesting to note that Panc1 and PSN-1 cells transfected with dominant/negative PFKFB-3 (dnPFKFB-3) showed a lower level of endogenous PFKFB-3, PFKFB-4, and VEGF mRNA expressions as well as a decreased proliferation rate of these cells.
