Genes associated with testicular germ cell tumors and testicular dysgenesis in patients with testicular microlithiasis

Testicular microlithiasis （TM） is one of the symptoms of testicular dysgenesis syndrome （TDs）. TM is particularly interesting as an informative marker of testicular germ cell tumors （TGCTs）. KIT ligand gene （KITLG）, BCL2 antagonist/killer 1 （BAK1）, and sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 4 （sPRY4） genes are associated with a high risk of TGCTs, whereas bone morphogenetic protein 7 gene （BMP7）, transforming growth factor beta receptor 3 gene （TGFBR3）, and homeobox D cluster genes （HOXD） are related to TDs. Using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） analysis, we investigated allele and genotype frequencies for KITLG （rs995030, rs1508595）, sPRY4 （rs4624820, rs6897876）, BAK1 （rs210138）, BMP7 （rs388286）, TGFBR3 （rs12082710）, and HOXD （rs17198432） in 142 TGCT patients, 137 TM patients, and 153 fertile men （control group）. We found significant differences in the KITLG GG_rs995030 genotype in TM （P= 0.01） and TGCT patients （P = 0.0005） compared with the control. We also revealed strong associations between KITLGrs1508595 and TM （G allele, P = 0.003; GG genotype, P= 0.01） and between KITLG_rs1508595 and TGCTs （G allele, P-- 0.0001; GG genotype, P = 0.0007）. Moreover, there was a significant difference in BMP7_rs388286 between the TGCT group and the control （T allele, P = 0.00004; TT genotype, P = 0.00006） and between the TM group and the control （T allele, P= 0.04）. HOXDalso demonstrated a strong association with TGCTs （rs17198432 A allele, P = 0.0001; AA genotype, P = 0.001）. Furthermore, significant differences were found between the TGCT group and the control in the BAK1_rs210138 G allele （P= 0.03） and the GG genotype （P= 0.01）. KITLG and BMP7genes, associated with the development of TGCTs, may also be related to TM. In summary, the KITLG GG_rs995030, GG_rs1508595, BMP7 TT_rs388286, HOXD AA_rs17198432, and BAK1 GG_rs210138 genotypes were associated with a high risk of TGCT development.

The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-sOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-sOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-sOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-sOFCs.

Choosing configurations of transmission line tower grounding by back flashover probability value

There is a considerable number of works devoted to electrical characteristics of grounding. These characteristics are important in general. However, in application to grounding of transmission line towers they are not enough to determine what grounding construction is preferable in some particular case, because these characteristics are calculated or measured apart from the grounded object, and only limited number of current （or voltage） source waveforms is used. This paper indicates reasons in favor of the fact that to choose the optimum design of grounding, the calculation model should include the tower as it is. The probability of back flashover, which provides both qualitative and quantitative estimate of the grounding structure efficiency, can be taken as the criterion for the grounding design. The insulation flashover probability is calculated on the basis of engineering method, which evaluates breakdown strength of insulation for nonstandard waveshapes, and probability data on lightning currents. Different approaches are examined for identifying the back flashover probability, as not only amplitudes but also other parameters can be taken into account. Finite-difference time-domain method is used for calculations of transients. It is found that lightning current waveform can greatly influence calculated back flashover probability value.

Notes on the family Brassicaceae in China

A critical revision of the collections of Brassicaceae in some Chinese (PE, XJA, XJBI, XJFA, XJNM, XJU) and foreign (LE, P) herbaria is made. One genus, Neurotropis (DC.) F. K. Mey., and 11 species, Alyssum szarabiacum Nyár., Barbarea stricta Andrz., Erysimum czernjajevii N. Busch, Erysimum kotuchovii D. German, Erysimum mongolicum D. German, Lepidium karelinianum Al-shehbaz, Matthiola superba Conti, Neurotropis platycarpa (Fisch. & Mey.) F. K. Mey., Ptilotrichum dahuricum Peschkova, sisymbrium subspinescens Bunge, and smelowskia micrantha (Botsch. & Vved.) Al-shehbaz & s. I. Warwick, are reported from China for the first time. six species, Aphragmus involucratus (Bunge) O. E. schulz, Dontostemon perennis C. A. Mey., Goldbachia torulosa DC., Lepidium amplexicaule Willd., Neotorularia brevipes (Kar. & Kir.) Hedge & J. Léonard, and Parrya stenocarpa Kar. & Kir., are confirmed to occurr in China. Five species, Dontostemon integrifolius (L.) C. A. Mey., Draba zangbeiensis L. L. Lou, Lepidium alashanicum H. L. Yang, sinapis arvensis L., and strigosella brevipes (Bunge) Botsch., are reported as novelties for some provinces in China, and strigosella hispida (Litv.) Botsch. occurs in Xinjiang, China. However, the occurrence of one genus, Pseudoarabidopsis Al-shehbaz, O’Kane & Price, and four species, Draba huetii Boiss., Eutrema halophilum (C. A. Mey.) Al-shehbaz & s. I. Warwick, Galitzkya spathulata (steph. ex Willd.) V. Bocz., and Pseudoarabidopsis toxophylla (Bieb.) Al-shehbaz, O’Kane & Price, could not be confirmed in China. The occurrence of six species, Aphragmus bouffordii Al-shehbaz, Barbarea orthoceras Ledeb., Lepidium latifolium L., Ptilotrichum canescens (DC.) C. A. Mey., strigosella hispida (Litv.) Botsch., and strigosella scorpioides (Bunge) Botsch., is not confirmed in certain provinces of China. We read with interest the article by Olechowski, et aL recently published in the Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. The results of this retrospective analysis of patients under- going cardiac resynchronization therapy （CRT） device implantation are in line with previous reports, suggesting that resynchronization therapy in the elderly is feasible and may lead to significant improvement of cardiac function and clinical status.

Positive and negative streamers in air and nitrogen in a sharply inhomogeneous electric field under conditions of runaway electron generation

The development of positive and negative streamers in a point-to-plane gap filled with air and nitrogen at various pressures(50-200 kPa)and voltages(8-25 kV)was studied.A four-channel intensified charge-coupled device(ICCD)and a streak-camera were *** parameters were measured with high resolution(10 GHz).An original method of measuring a displacement current caused by a streamer was *** was expected,positive streamer branches in nitrogen at low voltages and/or elevated pressures while a large-diameter streamer is formed in ***,at high voltages or negative polarity,the large-diameter streamer is formed both in nitrogen and air in the entire pressure *** was found that runaway electrons(REs)are generated in the very first picoseconds of gas ionisation near the pointed *** was assumed that REs can be generated near the pointed anode and produce bremsstrahlung radiation due to a sharply inhomogeneous distribution of electrical *** was found that in the final stage of negative streamer development in air and nitrogen,the gas between the streamer front and the opposite electrode is ionised almost simultaneously in the entire volume when the streamer diameter is almost equal to the interelectrode gap.

Differential diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia (sVT) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) is of paramount importance for appropriate patient management. several diagnostic algorithms for discrimination of VT and sVT based on surface electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis have been proposed. Following established diagnosis of VT,a specific origination tachycardia site can be supposed according to QRs complex characteristics. This review aims to cover comprehensive and comparative description of the main VT diagnostic algorithms and to present ECG characteristics which permit to suggest the most common VT origination sites.
