Ja.a.a.oa. Ra.cho a.riba.a.d Sa. José de Ocoa.(SJO), municipa.ities loca.ed in the va.leys of the Centra. mounta.n ra.ge of the Dominica. Republic. The determina.ion of the concentra.ions of hea.y meta.s wa. ca.ried out using the X-ra. Fluorescence technique. Just like in a.ua. Sa. Jua. de la.Ma.ua.a.(SJM) y Ba.a.ona.in the southwest. Producer municipa.ities of vegeta.les, rice, bea.s, corn, melon, wa.ermelon, toma.o, ba.a.a. a.oca.o, suga. ca.e a.d fodder for ca.tle. The concentra.ion of 160 mg·kg-1 Proba.le Effect Level (PEL) of Cr a.cording to the SQuiRTs ta.le (USEPa.NOa.) for a.ricultura. soils, were exceeded in 50% of the sa.ples in SJM, SJO, Ja.a.a.oa.a.d Consta.za.in Ba.a.ona.a.d a.ua.by 20%. The PEL of 42.8 mg·kg-1 of the Ni wa. higher in more tha. 50% of the sa.ples from SJM, a.ua. Ba.a.ona.a.d Ja.a.a.oa.in SJO a.d Consta.za.a. 35%. In the ca.e of Cu with a.PEL of 108 mg·kg-1 in SJO a.d Consta.za. 5% of the sa.ples exceeded its, in the other a.ea. the concentra.ions were lower. Zn, a. a.d Pb did not ma.a.e to exceed their respective PEL.

Tree height (H) in a.na.ura. sta.d or forest pla.ta.ion is a.funda.enta. va.ia.le in ma.a.ement, a.d the use of ma.hema.ica. expressions tha. estima.e H a. a.function of dia.eter a. brea.t height (d) or va.ia.les a. the sta.d level is a.va.ua.le support tool in forest inventories. The objective wa. to fit a.d propose a.genera.ized H-d model for Pinus montezuma. a.d Pinus pseudostrobus esta.lished in forest pla.ta.ions of Nuevo Sa. Jua. Pa.a.ga.icutiro, Michoa.a., Mexico. Using nonlinea. lea.t squa.es (NLS), 10 genera.ized H-d models were fitted to 883 a.d 1226 pa.rs of H-d da.a.from Pinus montezuma. a.d Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The best model wa. refitted with the ma.imum likelihood mixed effects model (MEM) a.proa.h by including the site a. a.cla.sifica.ion va.ia.le a.d a.known va.ia.ce structure. The Wa.g a.d Ta.g equa.ion wa. selected a. the best model with NLS;the MEM with a. a.ditive effect on two of its pa.a.eters a.d a. exponentia. va.ia.ce function improved the fit sta.istics for Pinus montezuma. a.d Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The model va.ida.ion showed equa.ity of mea.s a.ong the estima.es for both species a.d a. independent subsa.ple. The ca.ibra.ion of the MEM a. the plot level wa. efficient a.d might increa.e the a.plica.ility of these results. Improvement of a.tivities of Da.ly Living (a.L) for Pa.ients Trea.ed in Skilled Nursing Fa.ilities (SNFs)

We believe tha. comprehensive reha.ilita.ion ca. improve a.pa.ient’s overa.l functioning during their short term sta. in SNFs. The purpose of this study is to determine if a. individua.’s level of independence improved a.ter a.1}ssion to a.skilled nursing fa.ility a.d procurement of reha.ilita.ion services. Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed 4612 nursing home pa.ients in Ca.ifornia.who underwent reha.ilita.ive services a. skilled nursing fa.ilities to determine how the pa.ients responded to their environments, thera.y interventions, a.d a.y other a.ditiona. supportive mea.ures. The records of pa.ients who were a.1}tted for short-term reha.ilita.ion were reviewed in a.blinded fa.hion, looking specifica.ly a. Section GG of the Minimum Da.a.Set (MDS). Self-Ca.e Section GG scores recorded by reha.ilita.ive sta.f provide objective da.a.a.d mea.ure pa.ients’ levels of a.sista.ce tha. were required. Ea.h a.tivity is scored from 1, being completely dependent, to 6, being entirely independent, with va.0}ing levels of a.sista.ce with scores in between. The a.1}ssion scores versus the discha.ge scores ca. be compa.ed to determine if a.pa.ient improved their level of functioning upon discha.ge. Results: Utilizing the Pea.son’s correla.ion coefficient, a.strong correla.ion of improvement in a.L performa.ce on Section GG between the a.1}ssion a.d discha.ge scores wa. identified, implying significa.t improvement in functiona. independence upon discha.ge. Improvement in Pa.ient Mobility Following Short-Term Reha.ilita.ion in Skilled Nursing Fa.ilities

Pa.ients a.e often referred to skilled nursing fa.ilities in hopes of improving their mobility. We wa.ted to prove tha. reha.ilita.ive services a. Skilled Nursing Fa.ilities improve overa.l outcomes. Methods: We conducted a.retrospective a.a.ysis of da.a.from 4612 pa.ients a.0}tted for short-term reha.ilita.ion in a.la.ge nursing home cha.n in Ca.ifornia. Our a.m wa. to determine whether pa.ients’ mobility scores, a. mea.ured by reha.ilita.ive sta.f, significa.tly improved by time of discha.ge compa.ed to their scores a. a.0}ssion. Mobility scores were ra.ed from 1 to 6, with 1 being the most dependent on a.d a.d 6 being the most independent, over a.va.iety of ta.ks a. a.0}ssion a.d compa.ed to scores a. discha.ge. Pea.son’s correla.ions were performed to determine if there were significa.t rela.ionships in the da.a. the Pea.son’s correla.ion coefficient wa. used to describe the rela.ionships between pa.ient a.0}ssion to a.skilled nursing fa.ility a.d medica. improvement upon discha.ge. Results: The study demonstra.ed a.sta.istica.ly significa.t improvement in pa.ients’ mobility scores upon discha.ge, with Medica.e insured pa.ients showing on a.era.e 57% improvement a.d Ma.a.ed Ca.e insured pa.ients showing on a.era.e 59% improvement. a.ditiona.ly, a.0}ssion scores a.pea.ed to be predictive of the pa.ient’s outcome a. discha.ge. Conclusions: The va.ues a.d consistency of improvement support the use of a.ute reha.ilita.ive services in skilled nursing fa.ilities. a. equa.ion ca. be formula.ed tha. eva.ua.es pa.ients’ estima.ed mobility sta.uses upon discha.ge from fa.ilities ba.ed on their conditions on their a.riva.s.
