Introduction: Panorama studies of autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases are still very little carried out in Africa and particularly in Mali. The objective of this descriptive study with retrospective collection was to describe the epidemiological and clinical profile of all autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases in the department of internal medicine at the University Hospital Center of the Point G. Methods: This was a descriptive study with a retrospective survey of the records of patients hospitalized for autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases in the department of internal medicine at the CHU of Point G for a study period of 15 years from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2019. We included in the study all patients hospitalized for autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases. Results: During the study period (January 31, 2005 to December 31, 2019), 6383 patients were hospitalized in internal medicine at the University Hospital Center of the Point G, of which 317 patients presented with autoimmune and/or auto-inflammatory disease with an average annual hospital recruitment rate of 21 ± 7.87 cases per year. The female sex accounted for 64.98% with a sex ratio of 0.54. The mean age of patients was 35.27 ± 16.27 years and the extreme ages were 07 and 79 years. Out of the 317 medical records included according to our inclusion criteria, there were 07 cases of association between autoimmune disease and autoinflammatory disease, i.e. 14 cases of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. A total of 331 autoimmune diseases and/or auto-inflammatory diseases were collected, i.e. a frequency of 5.19%, including 291 cases of autoimmune diseases (221 cases of organ-specific autoimmune diseases and 70 cases of systemic autoimmune diseases) and 40 cases of autoinflammatory diseases (no case of monogenic forms, 08 cases of “systemic” polygenic forms and 32 cases of “organ-specific” polygenic forms). A Chronic Dysphony Caused by a Bifocal and Pulmonary Laryngeal Tuberculosis

Laryngeal tuberculosis is a rare entity. We consider the case of a woman of 62 who presented a one-year evolving chronic dysphonia chart associated with cough, febricula and general health damage. The nasofibroscopy showed a budding ulcerous lesion of the larynx a priori evoking a granulomatous lesion or cancer. The BAAR spits were strongly positive and the radiographic pictures of the thorax, typically evoked a pulmonary tuberculosis. Seeing the excellent therapeutic response to TB treatment in 4 months period, the bifocal tuberculosis diagnostic was confirmed.

<i>In Vitro</i>Germination and Early Vegetative Growth of Five Tomato (<i>Solanum lycopersicum</i>L.) Varieties under Salt Stress Conditions

In Senegal, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cultivation is affected by salinity in many agro-ecological zones. The selection of salt tolerant varieties would be an alternative solution to enhance the production. Thus, germination and growth are studied under axenic conditions for five varieties of tomato subjected to increasing concentrations of NaCl [0, 35, 70 and 105 mM], and supplemented in an MS/2 medium for 30 days. The results reveal that salt negatively affects the evaluated parameters. The Rodeo and Lady Nema varieties have the lowest final germination rates (50%) unlike the Mongal variety (55%). These last two varieties have a decrease of 71.78% and 81.28% in the height of the stem, respectively, in the presence of NaCl at [105 mM] while that of the Rodeo variety is 70%. The Xewel variety has the greatest average number of leaves in the presence of [NaCl 35 mM] (4.95 leaves) and [NaCl 70 mM] (4.77 leaves). The Lady Nema variety records the longest taproot length (2.99 cm) unlike the Rodeo variety (2.25 cm) at [NaCl 105 mM]. The Ganila variety reveals the highest number of secondary roots at the concentrations of [0, 35 and 105 mM] of NaCl with, respectively, 44.12, 29.25, and 4.25 roots. The

Introduction: Secondary hyperparathyroidism is a common complication in chronic hemodialysis patients. It is characterized by hypersecretion of parathormone by the parathyroid glands to maintain phosphocalcium homeostasis in response to hypocalcemia, lowering of 1.25 dihydroxy vitamin D3 and hyperphosphatemia. Objective: To analyze the results of parathyroidectomy (PTX) in cases of secondary hyperparathyroidism (HPTS), report the post-operative course and early and late complications. Patients and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of ten (10) patients with chronic renal failure operated on at the CHU of Point G over a 32-month period, from January 1, 2016 to August 31, 2019. We analyzed the clinical, biological, radiological and histological parameters of the thyroid glands. Results: We have collected 33 cases of secondary hyperparathyroidism. Ten (10) patients met the inclusion criteria. They were 45 years old on average, seven (7) women and three (3) men, in dialysis for an average of 6.8 years before parathyroidectomy. Half of the initial kidney disease was of vascular origin (HTA). No cases of diabetic nephropathy were identified. symptoms were in order of frequency: bone pain (60%), paresthesia (50%), functional impotence of the lower limbs (50%). Radiological signs included demineralisation (5 out of 6 cases) and brown tumour associated with a fracture (1 out of 6 cases). The most frequent indication for parathyroidectomy (100%) was persistence despite treatment of a serum PTH concentration above 1000 pg/ml. Subtotal PTX (7/8) was performed after cervical ultrasound in all patients. Histological analysis of the parathyroid glands showed adenoma (60%) and hyperplasia in 40% of cases. The evolution was marked by a progressive reduction of the parathormone level over twelve (12) months, without achieving normalization. Estimation of Glomerular Filtration Rate: Which Formula to Apply in G-Spot Subjects Aged 1 - 17 Years?

Introduction: Morbidity and mortality in paediatric practice is dominated in Africa by malaria, diarrhoeal diseases and acute respiratory infections. Aim: In order to evaluate the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) with the formulas commonly used by medical laboratories, we proposed to undertake this study. Patients and Method: This was a descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional study conducted at the PA and KA medical biology laboratory in Bamako Hamdalaye ACI 2000 in collaboration with the medical biology and hospital hygiene laboratory service at the Point G University Hospital. Results: During the study period, we recruited 360 subjects, 189 of whom were male (52.5%) and 171 female (47.5%). The mean age was 8.75 ± 4.8 years with extremes of 1 and 17 years. Subjects aged 15 to 17 years were the most numerous. The reference means GFR of the subjects according to age was with the SCHWARTZ formula 179.16 ± 50.47 with extremes of 173.93 and 184.39;with CKD-Epi 37.63 ± 11.25 with extremes of 36.46 and 38.79;with MAYO 107.87 ± 18.11 with extremes of 105.99 and 109.75 and MDRD 350.83 ± 251.15 with extremes of 324.79 and 376.86. Conclusion: The Mayo formula showed a better distribution around the mean than other formulas for estimating the glomerular filtration rate.
