Relevance of the P ＆ O MPPT Technique in an Original PV-Powered Water Pumping Application

Many papers exploiting the various MPPT （maximum power point tracking） techniques in PV （photovoltaic） applications, from the simple to the most complicated, can be found in literature. However, these techniques may not always be easy to implement in industrial applications. The main challenge of this paper is to model and implement the P ＆ O （perturb and observe） algorithm in a low-cost PV-powered pumping system. To that end, a comparative investigation of the performance characteristics of the most popular MPPT methods, such as FOCV （fractional open circuit voltage）, FSCC （fractional short circuit current）, FLC （fuzzy logic control）, ANN （artificial neural network） and INC （incremental conductance） is presented. This analysis is helpful to highlight the relevance of the P ＆ O technique taking better account of complexity, difficulty of implementation and cost considerations in water pumping applications. The targeted PV-powered pumping system is based on a single-phase induction motor supplied by a three-phase inverter controlled by the DTC （direct torque control） technique. This stand-alone PV system is dedicated to water pumping, especially in rural areas that have no access to national grids but have sufficient amount of solar radiation. Simulation modeling （Matlab/Simulink） and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the relevance of the system.

The influence of interlayer anions such as NO3-, 5042- and Cl- on Mg-AI hydrotalcites for Cr（Vl） removal from aqueous solution was studied. The structure of the prepared LDHs was characterized by XRD, SEM, FTIR, TGA, BET surface area and pHzpc. The sorbent ability and sorption mechanisms were also investigated. The LDHs exhibit high removal for Cr（VI）, and the sorbed amount depends on the nature of interlayer anion, which decreased in the following order： NO3- 〉 Cl 〉 SO42-, Nitrate-containing LDH reached a Cr（VI） sorption equilibrium within only 30 min. The effects of operating conditions, including initial concentration, solution pH, agitation time and sorbent amount have been studied in batch mode. The optimum conditions were observed at an initial concen- tration of 100 mg. L- 1, pH = 6, agitation time of 60 min and a sorbent dose of 2 g.L- 1. The equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models. The Langmuir model was found to sufficiently describe the sorption process, offering a maximum sorption capacity of 71.91 mg-g 1. The sorp- tion kinetic follows pseudo-second-order reaction with high accuracy. Thermodynamic parameters suggested that the sorption process is spontaneous and endothermic in nature.

This study modeled the spread of an influenza epidemic in the population of Oran, Algeria. We investigated the mathematical epidemic model, SEIR（Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Removed）, through extensive simulations of the effects of social network on epidemic spread in a Small World（SW） network, to understand how an influenza epidemic spreads through a human population. A combined SEIR-SW model was built, to help understand the dynamics of infectious disease in a community, and to identify the main characteristics of epidemic transmission and its evolution over time. The model was also used to examine social network effects to better understand the topological structure of social contact and the impact of its properties. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the combined SEIR-SW model. Simulation results were analyzed to explore how network evolution influences the spread of desease, and statistical tests were applied to validate the model. The model accurately replicated the dynamic behavior of the real influenza epidemic data, confirming that the susceptible size and topological structure of social networks in a human population significantly influence the spread of infectious diseases. Our model can provide health policy decision makers with a better understanding of epidemic spread,allowing them to implement control measures. It also provides an early warning of the emergence of influenza epidemics.

Engineered stimuli-responsive drug delivery devices hold vast promise in biological applications for disease treatment due to their maximized therapeutic efficacy In this study a novel, stably cross-linked, and pH-sensitive biodegradable gel-micelle was constructed with amphiphilic conjugates of trimethylene dipiperidine- methacrylic anhydride-hyaluronic acid-stearylamine （TMDP-MA-HA-SA, TMHS） to improve tumor-targeting with flexible intracellular delivery of paditaxel （PTX）. The cross-linked methacrylate bonds significantly improved the biostability of TMHS gel-micelle （~ 200 nm） over the non-cross-linked under physiological conditions, while hyaluronic acid plays an important role in active tumor targetability. The gradual degradation of cross-linked hyaluronic acid shell was triggered by the concentrated hyaluronidase. Meanwhile, under acidic conditions （pH 〈 6.5）, the tertiary amines of pH-sensitive TMDP moieties were protonated and thereby solubilized the gel-micellar core-portions. The resultant pH-triggered inner-core spaces rapidly prompted PTX release in the presence of multiple cytosolic enzymes that mainly degraded the remaining hydrophobic stearylamine core. During the in vitro cytotoxicity assay, PTX-loaded TMHS gel-micelles （ct~） revealed anticancer efficacy against human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells with ICs0 of 1.42 gg/mL （PTX concentration）, significantly lower than other groups. In parallel, the in vivo anti-tumor efficacy of CLTMHSptx gel-micelles against BALB/c xenograft tumor animal model demonstrated the greater tumor growth inhibition capacity of 72.06%, compared to other treatment groups at a safe concentration. Consequently, the cross-linked and stimuli-responsive CLTMHSFrx gel-micelles hold a great potential for flexible modulation of intracellular delivery of hydrophobic anticancer drugs with maximized antitumor efficacy.

Genista saharae Cosson and Durieu, endemic Saharan Africa, is a spontaneous fabaceae dunes south of M＇sila （Algeria）. Perfectly adapted to arid and sandy soils, this species is a remarkable plant for dune fixation and thus fights against desertification. The objective of this study is to provide local species to various development programs of steppe ecological systems in nature and therefore ensure the rehabilitation of these species while considering the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable management of biological resources steppe. After a field survey and stratified sampling, the methodological approach has taken into account three types of analysis： a biometric analysis of a population of 100 individuals of this species, the second analysis on its biology at last an analysis of an ecological factor dealing with the accuracy governing the distribution of this species in Maiter Oued in the south of M＇sila. The results have clarified the ecology of this species to better understand its biology and to develop statistically a diagnosis on the phenology and morphology of various organs （pods, seeds, leaves） of Genista saharae Cosson and Durieu.

Systematic review of cystic duct closure techniques in relation to prevention of bile duct leakage after laparoscopic cholecystectomy

AIM To study the effect of different techniques of cystic duct closure on bile leakage after laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) for biliary *** A systematic search of MEDLINE, Cochrane and EMBASE was performed. Rate of cystic duct leakage(CDL) was the primary outcome. Risk of bias was evaluated. Odds ratios were analyzed for comparison of techniques and pooled event rates for non-comparative analyses. Pooled event rates were compared for each of included *** Out of 1491 articles, 38 studies were included. A total of 47491 patients were included, of which 38683(81.5%)underwent cystic duct closure with non-locking(metal)clips. All studies were of low-moderate methodological quality. Only two studies reported separate data on uncomplicated and complicated gallbladder disease. For overall CDL, an odds ratio of 0.4(95%CI: 0.06-2.48)was found for harmonic energy vs clip closure and an odds ratio of 0.17(95%CI: 0.03-0.93) for locking vs non-locking clips. Pooled CDL rate was around 1% for harmonic energy and metal clips, and 0% for locking clips and ligatures. CONCLUSION Based on available evidence it is not possible to either recommend or discourage any of the techniques for cystic duct closure during LC with respects to CDL,although data point out a slight preference for locking clips and ligatures vs other techniques. No separate recommendation can be made for complicated gallbladder disease.
