A displacement test based on the interaction between the flavonoid quercetin and an excess of metal chloride allows the determination of the binding constant for the reaction between quercetin and Ca2+,Mg^2+and Ni^2+.The values obtained were 2.20±1.77×10^3 for Ca^2+,1.37±0.59×10^3 for Mg^2+and 7.03±1.04×10^4 for Ni^2+,and all interactions showed type 1:1 stoichiometry,as determined by titration and by the method of continuous variations(Job’s method).The complexion effect was observed qualitatively through a colorimetric change in the medium(yellow→neon yellow)and spectroscopically through a bathochromic shift in the absorption band of quercetin in the presence of *** investigation serves as a tool for the development and testing of materials capable of capturing toxic metal ions or favoring the absorption of beneficial ions(in relation to the human metabolism)through the construction of efficient bioorganic *** results reported herein allow understanding of this detection system,indicating the following ascending order of the binding constants(Mg^2+

The objective of this study was to evaluate the concentration and distribution of heavy metals in the sediments of Paulo Gorski Lake, as well as the metals’ bioavailability and potential ecological risk, and to define the anthropogenic and natural heavy metal contributions to the lake. The chemical elements calcium(Ca), cadmium(Cd), cobalt(Co), chromium(Cr), copper(Cu), iron(Fe), potassium(K), magnesium(Mg), manganese(Mn), sodium(Na), nickel(Ni), lead(Pb), and zinc(Zn) were quantified by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry with two extraction methods to quantify the bioavailable and nonbioavailable fractions. The data were evaluated using multivariate statistics and sediment quality *** sediment collection points(S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5) are different in terms of the concentration of heavy metals, except for S4 and S5, which were statistically equal. The bioavailable fraction of the elements in the sediment follows the sequence Pb > Cu > Mn > Zn > Ni > Cr > phosphorus(P) for all points. The elements Co, Cr, Pb, and Zn showed moderate to considerable contamination at all points. Only points S3 and S5 had moderate ecological risk. Urbanization has been affecting Paulo Gorski Lake via the input of chemical elements, especially Co and Pb. The points most affected by heavy metal contamination are S3 and S5 when the sedimentological sensitivity factor is considered. The lake has high hydrodynamics,causing some of the contaminants that enter the system to leave it, leading to potential negative impacts downstream.

Background： Recent technological advances in genomics have allowed the genotyping of cattle through single nucleotide polymorphism（SNP） panels. High-density SNP panels possess greater genome coverage and are useful for the identification of conserved regions of the genome due to selection, known as selection signatures（SS）. The SS are detectable by different methods, such as the extended haplotype homozygosity（EHH）; and the integrated haplotype score（i HS）, which is derived from the EHH. The aim of this study was to identify SS regions in Canchim cattle（composite breed）, genotyped with high-density SNP ***： A total of 687,655 SNP markers and 396 samples remained for SS analysis after the genotype quality control. The i HS statistic for each marker was transformed into pi HS for better interpretation of the *** BTA5 and BTA14 showed pi HS 〉 5, with 39 and nine statistically significant SNPs（P 〈 0.00001）,respectively. For the candidate selection regions, i HS values were computed across the genome and averaged within non-overlapping windows of 500 Kb. We have identified genes that play an important role in metabolism,melanin biosynthesis（pigmentation）, and embryonic and bone ***： The observation of SS indicates that the selection processes performed in Canchim, as well as in the founder breeds（i.e. Charolais）, are maintaining specific genomic regions, particularly on BTA5 and BTA14. These selection signatures regions could be associated with Canchim characterization.

This paper is part of an interdisciplinary and interinstitutional study1 involving biology,biotechnology and humanities researchers with the aim of examining the gaps as well as the opportunities that bioeconomics macrosegment offers to *** this,it adopted an action-research methodology based on interviews with stakeholders that work directly in the *** actors were contacted among researchers,experts and entrepreneurs,of which ten gave face-to-face interviews,with open questionnaires,*** the analysis of these data,and from a vast theoretical framework,the article delimits biomass as a pillar of bioeconomics and points out the emerging trends of this science such as“green chemistry”and *** is a field that condenses an important economic potential and a great capacity to develop mechanisms for the environment’s *** analyzing the production chain and its interfaces,the article reveals that Brazil,although it has an undeniable capacity to emerge as a world protagonist in sustainable production,still lacks well-defined public policies that invest in innovation,in addition to the consumer culture’s transformation,production and economic development focused on non-renewable products.

Aerobic vs. Anaerobic Training in Post-Stroke Rehabilitation: Effects on Functionality, Strength, and Balance

Research Background: Stroke rehabilitation is essential for improving patient outcomes, with a focus on restoring functionality, strength, and mobility. Aerobic (TAE) and anaerobic (TAN) training have demonstrated varying impacts on post-stroke recovery. Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the effects of TAE and TAN on post-stroke rehabilitation outcomes, including functionality, walking improvement, strength, balance, and cardiorespiratory capacity. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in the PubMed and PEDro databases, covering studies from January 2014 to May 2024. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the impact of TAE and TAN on the specified outcomes were included. The review adhered to PRISMA guidelines, and independent reviewers extracted relevant data on participant characteristics, interventions, and outcomes. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the PEDro scale, and the risk of bias was analyzed. Results: Data synthesis revealed that TAN was more effective in improving performance in the 10-Meter Walk Test (10MWT) and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), while TAE demonstrated superior results in the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and the Barthel Activities of Daily Living Index (Barthel ADL). Both training modalities showed significant improvements in the 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) for cardiorespiratory capacity, with TAN exhibiting a slightly higher mean difference. Surprisingly, strength gains, assessed by Maximal Isometric Strength (MaxIS), were higher in the TAE group. Conclusions: Both TAE and TAN contribute to post-stroke recovery, with TAN excelling in walking and balance improvements, and TAE showing advantages in functional mobility and strength. The findings support personalized rehabilitation strategies that incorporate both aerobic and anaerobic training to optimize patient outcomes.
