A simple and convenient approach for the synthesis of tetraheterocyclic benzothiazolo-[2,3-b]-quinazolin-1-ones has been developed utilizing the MCR methodology, which involves the condensation of 2-aminobenzothiazole, cyclic-diketones and various aldehydes using Amberlyst-15 in PEG 400 as an environmentally benign and reusable catalyst system. Environmental benignity, recyclability, cost-effectiveness, easy workup and excellent yields are the major attributes of this one-pot procedure.

A set S ⊆ V (G) is called a geodetic set if every vertex of G lies on a shortest u-v path for some u, v ∈ S, the minimum cardinality among all geodetic sets is called geodetic number and is denoted by . A set C ⊆ V (G) is called a chromatic set if C contains all vertices of different colors in G, the minimum cardinality among all chromatic sets is called the chromatic number and is denoted by . A geo-chromatic set Sb>cb> ⊆ V (G) is both a geodetic set and a chromatic set. The geo-chromatic number of G is the minimum cardinality among all geo-chromatic sets of G. In this paper, we determine the geodetic number and the geo-chromatic number of 2-cartesian product of some standard graphs like complete graphs, cycles and paths.

Experimental study of the interspecific competition between two sibling marine herbivorous rotifers in relation to food availability and initial population density

Our laboratory study concerns the competitive interaction between two marine rotifer species bra- chionus plicatilis and brachionus rotundiformis at five algal （ Nannochloropsis salina） concentrations （0.4＊106 to 32.4x106 cells/ml） and at four initial inoculation densities （numerically, 100% b. pli- catilis; 75% b. plicatilis and 25% b. rotundiforrnis, 50% each of the two species; 25% b. plicatilis and 75% b. rotundiformis and 100% b. rotundiforrnis. The initial biomass varied as 0.33 and 0.22 #g/ml for b. plicatilis and b. rotundiformis respectively. Experiments were performed at （25±1）C. Population densities were enumerated and the medium was changed daily up to 8 d in the ex- periment. At the lowest food level tested, b. rotundiformis formed superior competitor than b. plicatilis, regardless of starting inoculation density. Generally when the food concentrations in- creased, b. plicatilis showed a greater increase in biomass than b. rotundiforrnis. b. rotundiformis formed the largest in population growth, regardless of increasing food concentrations. When grown alone, b. plicatilis reached peak abundances of （1.311 5±0.028） and （137.5±0.014） μg/ml at low and high food densities respectively. The corresponding values of b. rotundiformis were 0.724 5±0.016 and 18.15±0.021. The adverse effects of b. rotundiforrnis on the peak abundances of b. plicatilis were observed at the lowest food level and higher initial density. The rate of population growth in controls varied from （0.792±0.162） to （1.482±0.132） ttm/d for b. plicatilis and （0.445~0.041） to （0.856±0.012） μm/d for b. rotundiformis, depending on food level. When both species were intro- duced together, low food levels favoured higher abundance of b. rotundiforrnis than b. plicatilis, suggesting that increased population density of the smaller b. rotundiforrnis was more successfull than larger b. plicatilis in brackish waters. background: bithermal caloric irrigation, video head impulse test(vHIT), and rotational testing are commonly used to assess peripheral vestibular function, but the relative clinical utility of each test in differentiating patients with peripheral vestibulopathy is ***: To determine whether(1) the combination of two or more vestibular tests enhances diagnostic utility over a single test;(2) abnormal test results on vestibular tests correlate with one ***: Retrospective analysis of data collected from multidisciplinary vestibular clinics at two academic medical centers from 2016 to ***: 150 patients(54.10 ± 15.09 years, 88 females) were included. No individual test was significantly better at predicting the presence of peripheral vestibular damage(p > 0.05). vHIT test results improved significantly when combined with either the caloric test(p = 0.007) or rotary chair test(p = 0.039). Caloric and rotational testing had high sensitivity(74.65% and 76.06%, respectively) and specificity(83.54% and 78.48%, respectively). vHIT demonstrated excellent specificity(89.87%) but poor sensitivity(47.89%). Caloric, vHIT, and rotary chair tests results did not correlate with one another(p > 0.05).Conclusions: Vestibular function tests have comparable diagnostic utility, yet each offers unique advantages. Caloric and rotational testing may be best suited for screening peripheral damage and vHIT may function ideally as a confirmatory test.

CeO2/TiO2 composite nanoparticles with different Ce/Ti molar ratios have been successfully synthesized via sol-gel method. It was found that the band gap of the nanocomposite is tunable by varying Ce/Ti content. The nonlinear response of the sample was studied by using the nanosecond laser pulses from a Q switched Nd：Yag laser employing the Z-scan method. Open aperture Z-scan experiment revealed that with the increase in the CeO2 amount in the nanocomposite, the non-linearity of the composite increases, and it was assumed that this could be due to the modification of TiO2 dipole symmetry by the addition of CeO2. Closed aperture Z-scan experiment showed that when the CeO2 amount increases, positive nonlinear refraction decreases, and this could be attributed to the increase in the two photon absorption which subsequently suppresses the nonlinear refraction.

Haplotyping of Rice Genotypes Using Simple Sequence Repeat Markers Associated with Salt Tolerance

Salt stress is a major problem in most of the rice growing areas in the world. A major QTLSaltol associated with salt tolerance at the seedling stage has been mapped on chromosome 1 in *** study aimed to characterize the haplotype diversity at Saltol and additional QTLs associated withsalt tolerance. Salt tolerance at the seedling stage was assessed in 54 rice genotypes in the scale of 1to 9 score at EC = 10 dSm^-1 under controlled environmental conditions. Seven new breeding linesincluding three KMR3/O. rufipogon introgression lines showed similar salt tolerant ability as FL478 andcan be good sources of new genes/alleles for salt tolerance. Simple sequence repeat （SSR） markerRM289 showed only two alleles and RM8094 showed seven alleles. Polymorphic information contentvalue varied from 0.55 for RM289 to 0.99 for RM8094 and RM493. based on 14 SSR markers, the 54lines were clearly separated into two major clusters. Fourteen haplotypes were identified based onSaltol linked markers with FL478 as the reference. Alleles of RM8094 and RM3412 can discriminatebetween the salt tolerant and susceptible genotypes clearly and hence can be useful in marker-assistedselection at the seedling stage. Other markers RM10720 on chromosome 1 and RM149 and RM264 onchromosome 8 can also distinguish tolerant and susceptible lines but with lesser stringency.

This article is concerned with the initial boundary value problem for a nonconservative system of hyperbolic equation appearing in elastodynamics in the space time domain x 〉 0, t 〉 0. The number of boundary conditions, to be prescribed at the boundary x = 0,depends on the number of characteristics entering the domain. because our system is nonlinear, the characteristic speeds depends on the unknown and the direction of the characteristics curves are known apriori. As it is well known, the boundary condition has to be understood in a generalised way. One of the standard way is using vanishing viscosity method. We use this method to construct solution for a particular class of initial and boundary data, namely the initial and boundary datas that lie on the level sets of one of the Riemann invariants.

In this study, hybrid composites based on carbon fabric and epoxy (C/Ep) were fabricated by hand lay-up method followed by compression moulding. The C/Ep with optimum carbon fiber (60 wt%) was chosen as a reference material, and to it, the metallic nanoparticles like aluminum (Al) and zinc (Zn) of different wt% (0.5 and 1.0) were included as secondary fillers. To understand the synergism effect of these hybrid reinforcements, mechanical properties and tribological behavior of composites were studied. From the test results, it was proved that hybridization improved the mechanical and tribological properties. The C/Ep consisting of 0.5 wt% Zn and Al showed higher tensile properties in comparison with all other fabricated composites. Increase in flexural strength and flexural modulus also observed as the filler content increased in C/Ep composite. Higher impact strength is noted at 1 wt% Zn filled C/Ep composite. Wear test data revealed that 0.5 wt% Zn in C/Ep has got superior wear resistance. Wear mechanisms were discussed using scanning electron micrographs of selected worn surfaces of the composites.

We present the linear and nonlinear optical studies on TiO2-SiO2 nanocomposites with varying compositions. Opti- cal band gap of the material is found to vary with the amount of SiO2 in the composite. The phenomenon of two-photon absorption （TPA） in TiO2/SiO2 nanocomposites has been studied using open aperture Z-scan technique. The nanocom- posites show better nonlinear optical properties than pure TiO2, which can be attributed to the surface states and weak dielectric confinement of TiO2 nanoparticles by SiO2 matrix. The nanocomposites are thermally treated and similar studies are performed. The anatase form of TiO2 in the nanocomposites shows superior properties relative to the amorphous and rutile counterpart. The involved mechanism is explained by rendering the dominant role played by the excitons in the TiO2 nanoparticles.

Colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC) imposes a major health burden in developing countries. It is the third major cause of cancer deaths. Despite several treatment strategies, novel drugs are warranted to reduce the severity of this disease. Adenomatous polyps in the colon are the major culprits in CRC and found in 45% of cancers, especially in patients 60 years of age. Inflammatory polyps are currently gaining attention in CRC, and a growing body of evidence denotes the role of inflammation in CRC. Several experimental models are being employed to investigate CRC in animals, which include the APC^(min/+) mouse model, Azoxymethane, Dimethyl hydrazine, and a combination of Dextran sodium sulphate and dimethyl hydrazine. During CRC progression, several signal transduction pathways are activated. Among the major signal transduction pathways are p53, Transforming growth factor beta, Wnt/β-catenin, Delta Notch, Hippo signalling, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 and Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 pathways. These signalling pathways collaborate with cell death mechanisms, which include apoptosis, necroptosis and autophagy, to determine cell fate. Extensive research has been carried out in our laboratory to investigate these signal transduction and cell death mechanistic pathways in CRC. This review summarizes CRC pathogenesis and the related cell death and signal transduction pathways.
