Model predictive control(MPC)is an advanced control *** has been deployed to harness the energy flexibility of a *** requires a dynamic model of the building to achieve such an ***,developing a suitable predictive model is the main challenge in MPC implementation forflexibility *** studyfocuses on the application of key performance indicators(KPls)to evaluate the suitability of MPC models via feature *** this end,multiple models were developed for two houses.A feature selection method was developed to select an appropriate feature space to train the *** predictive models were then quantified based on one-step ahead prediction error(OSPE),a standard KPI used in multiple studies,and a less-often KPl:multi-step ahead prediction error(MSPE).An MPC workflow was designed where different models can serve as the predictive *** showed that MSPE better demonstrates the performance of predictive models used for flexibility *** revealed that up to 57% of the flexibility potential and 48% of energy use reduction are not exploited if MSPE is not minimized while developing a predictive model.

A novel polybenzimidazole(PBI)-based trilayer membrane assembly is developed for application in vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB).The membrane comprises a 1μm thin cross-linked poly[2,2′-(p-oxydiphenylene)−5,5′-bibenzimidazole](OPBI)sandwiched between two 20μm thick porous OPBI membranes(p-OPBI)without further lamination *** trilayer membrane demonstrates exceptional properties,such as high conductivity and low area-specific resistance(ASR)of 51 mS cm−1 and 81mΩcm^(2),*** with vanadium electrolyte increases the ASR of trilayer membrane only to 158mΩcm^(2),while that of Nafion is 193mΩcm^(2).VO^(2+)permeability is 2.73×10^(-9) cm^(2) min^(−1),about 150 times lower than that of Nafion *** addition,the membrane has high mechanical strength and high chemical stability against VO^(2+).In VRFB,the combination of low resistance and low vanadium permeability results in excellent performance,revealing high Coulombic efficiency(>99%),high energy efficiency(EE;90.8%at current density of 80mA cm^(−2)),and long-term *** EE is one of the best reported to date.

Luminescence thermometry is a reliable approach for remote thermal sensing,and extensive studies have been devoted to designing a luminescence thermometer with heightened thermal ***,we report a promising luminescence thermometric material,Ta^(5+)-substituted K_(0.5)Na_(0.5)NbO_(3):0.003Er^(3+)transparent ferroelectric *** temperature sensing sensitivity is significantly improved by adjusting the concentration of Ta^(5+)in the ***,utilizing the fluorescence intensity ratio from the 2H_(11/2) and 4S_(3/2) thermally coupled states of Er^(3+)as a detecting signal within the temperature range of 273–543 K,an optimal maximum absolute sensitivity of 0.0058 K–1 and relative sensitivity of 0.0158 K–1 are achieved for K_(0.5)Na_(0.5)NbO_(3):0.65Ta^(5+)/0.003Er^(3+).Simultaneously,as the concentration of Ta5+increase,a unique evolution of structural phase transitions is observed from orthorhombic to tetragonal and then to *** is accompanied by an improvement in luminescence temperature sensing properties,and the best sensitivity is demonstrated in the cubic-phase ***,a huge change in infrared luminescence properties as a function of temperature is found around the structure transition temperature of the *** results indicate a promising potential for achieving highly sensitive thermometry or monitoring phase structure transitions through luminescence thermometry behavior in the K_(0.5)Na_(0.5)NbO_(3) host.

Having been a seemingly unreachable ideal for decades,3-D full-waveform inversion applied to massive seismic datasets has become reality in recent *** achieving unprecedented resolution,it has provided new insight into the structure of the Earth,from the upper few metres of soil to the entire *** by these successes,the technology is now being translated to medical ultrasound and non-destructive *** remarkable progress,the computational cost of fullwaveform inversion continues to be a major *** limits the amount of data that can be exploited,and it largely inhibits quantitative and comprehensive uncertainty *** notes complement a presentation on recent developments in full-waveform inversion that are intended to reduce computational cost and assimilate more data,thereby improving tomographic *** suite of strategies includes flexible and user-friendly spectral-element simulations,the design of wavefieldadapted meshes that harness prior information on wavefield geometry,dynamic mini-batch optimisation that naturally takes advantage of data redundancies,and collaborative multi-scale updating to jointly constrain crustal and mantle structure.
