The accelerated growth of the vehicular fleet, the modernization of large urban centers, and the few adjustments to the road network in Fortaleza have intensified the problems of traffic and emissions of atmospheric pollutants, highlighting the necessity for strategic urban planning initiatives to address the escalating issues of traffic and pollution. With the objective of analyzing the indices of concentrations of atmospheric pollutants and estimating how these levels can affect human health, this work consists of a study of the analysis of air quality in the intense trade region of Fortaleza. For this, the analysis zone was divided into three perimeters (Major - Medium - Minor), where each perimeter was analyzed at 7 am, 12 noon and 5 pm. Concentrations of the type of O3, particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), CO2 and HCHO were collected. Our results demonstrate that most of the analyses are within the limits of current legislation;however, at certain times and perimeters, the analyses of CO2 and HCHO exceeded the established limits. In view of the above, we conclude that public policies to control air quality are necessary to reduce the damage to human health and the environment caused by pollutants.

To determine if reduced tree densities(number of trees per unit area) lead to changes in micro-meteorological and tree physiological characteristics, two areas with different tree densities were assessed. One was an agrosilvopastoral system(AGP) with low tree density, and the other, a secondary forest(SF) with greater tree numbers, both located in a semiarid region of Brazil. Data were collected simultaneously by two automated weather stations: rainfall, air(T_a) and soil temperatures(T_(s5 cm)), relative humidity(RHair), photosynthetically active radiation(PAR), soil moisture at two depths(M_(s30 cm)and M_(s50 cm)),and wind velocity(Vw). Net photosynthesis in Cordia oncocalyx Allema?o trees was measured with an infrared gas analyzer in February, March, May, July, August and September 2011, which encompasses a rainy period followed by a dry period. Average values of Ta, T_(s5 cm), Vwand PAR were greater and average values of RHairand M_(s50 cm) were lesser in the AGP. Photosynthetic rates were greater in plants growing under the AGP at the onset of the dry season when Vw, PAR and T_(s5 cm)were greater and M_(s50 cm) was lesser. Photosynthetic rates correlated strongly with physical parameters during the dry season, especially under SF. Differences in tree numbers between AGP and SF led to differences in physical environmental parameters;however, the latter had less influence on photosynthetic rates in C. oncocalyx during the rainy season. During the dry season, all physical parameters had an impact on net photosynthesis under SF but not under AGP. This indicates a certain independence of plants in AGP.

BACKGROUND： Fibromyalgia （FMS） is a syndrome characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, whose etiology is not completely understood. Different therapeutic approaches have been used with inconsistent results. This observation does not invalidate the continued search for alternative treatments aimed at improving quality of life （QoL） in FMS. OBJECTIVE： This study compared three classica acupuncture （AC）, electroacupuncture （EAC） and promotion of QoL in FMS patients. traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） therapies： moxibustion （MX） in the management of pain and DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： A preliminary, group-assigned, comparative study enrolled 30 women, mean age （46.90_＋9.24） years （range 20-60 years）, who met the 1990 American College of Rheumatology criteria for FMS diagnosis and a pain-pressure threshold （PPT）〈 4 kg/cm2. The study was conducted in a teaching tertiary-care medical institution from May 2010 through April 2012. AC, EAC and MX were delivered for 30 min, once a week, for 8 weeks, bilaterally at Neiguan （PC6）, Hegu （LI4）, Yanglingquan （GB34）, Sanyinjiao （SP6） and Taichong （LR3） acupoints. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Each week, immediately before treatment and after treatment, subjects were tested for PPTs, Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale （WBFPS; for pain intensity） and Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey （SF-36： for QoL）. RESULTS： There was no significant improvement in pain or reduction of tender points in any of the groups studied, at the end of the 8th session. Significant improvement of QoL was perceived in vitality （after AC treatment） and in mental health （after EAC and MX treatments）. CONCLUSION： TCM therapies （AC, EAC and MX） promoted an improvement in the QoL in two areas （vitality and mental health） in FMS women. Further large-scale clinical trials are required to confirm this effect.

Introduction: Telemedicine has been used as a tool for improving access to health services worldwide. The aim of the present study is thus to evaluate the effectiveness of urological consultation by videoconference, perceptions regarding safety on the part of medical teams providing video consultation services and patient satisfaction after a urological appointment. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional, observational, and analytical study was carried out with 50 volunteers referred from the basic health unit for a urology appointment. All patients were evaluated remotely by videoconference and in person by different urology teams. Results: The study revealed that effectiveness in terms of the degree of match between diagnoses performed by video consultation and those performed in person was 92%. The urology team’s perception regarding safety, measured using an in-house safety questionnaire, was high for both videoconferencing and in-person consultations and there was no statistical difference between the two (overall safety score for video consultation compared to in-person consultation was 9.7 ± 0.8 compared to 9.6 ± 0.8 and the p-value was 0.3 for Student’s t-test). Patient satisfaction with the appointment was similarly high for both groups, averaging 9.72 ± 0.4 among patients who attended a video consultation and 9.82 ± 0.4 among those whose consultation was conducted in person, with a p-value of 0.10478 for Student’s t-test. Conclusion: Video consultation in urology is an effective way to perform diagnoses, with high levels of perceived safety among urologists and high satisfaction rates among patients.

AIM:To evaluate the effects of soy supplementation on insulin resistance,fatty liver and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) levels in non-diabetic patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC).METHODS:In a prospective,randomized and singleblinded clinical trial,we compared patients with CHC who had casein as a supplement(n = 80)(control group),with patients who consumed a soy supplement diet(n = 80) [intervention group(IG)].Both groups received 32 g/d of protein for 12 ***:Patients' baseline features showed that 48.1% were overweight,43.7% had abdominal fat accumulation,34.7% had hepatic steatosis and 36.3% had an homeostasis model assessment index of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR) ≥ *** analysis showed that protein supplementation diet reduced hepatic steatosis in both groups;however,significant reductions in ALT levels occurred in the soy *** regression modeling indicated that in the presence of severe fibrosis(F3/F4),g glutamyl transferase elevation and high density lipoprotein(HDL) reduction,the intervention group had 75% less chance of developing hepatic steatosis(OR= 0.25;95% CI:0.06-0.82) and 55% less chance of presenting with an ALT level ≥ 1.5 × the upper limit of normal(ULN)(OR = 0.45,95% CI:0.22-0.89).Soy treatment did not have any effect on insulin resistance(OR = 1.92;95% CI:0.80-4.83),which might be attributed to the fact that the HOMAIR values at baseline in most of our patients were in the normal *** hepatic fibrosis,an ALT level > 1.5 × ULN and visceral fat were predictors of an HOMA-IR ≥ *** IG group had a reduced risk of an ALT level > 1.5 × *** HOMA-IR ≥ 3.0 and HDL < 35 mg/dL were also risk factors for increased ***:Soy supplementation decreased ALT levels and thus may improve liver inflammation in hepatitis C virus(HCV) patients;it also reduced hepatic steatosis in a subgroup of patients but did not change insulin *** should be considered in the nutritional care of HCV patients.

BackgroundHuman rabies outbreak transmitted by bats continues to be a relevant public health problem not only in the Amazon region. The disease has affected one of the areas with the greatest poverty in southeastern Brazil, a region inhabited by the Maxakali indigenous *** presentationWe describe four cases of rabies among indigenous children that occurred in the indigenous village of Pradinho, municipality of Bertópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Cases were notified between April and May 2022, all of whom died on average eight days after the first symptoms. All cases were observed in rural residents under 12 years of age. The probable form of exposure was through bat bites. The predominant symptoms were prostration, fever, dyspnea, sialorrhea, tachycardia, and altered level of consciousness. Half of the cases underwent late and/or incomplete post-exposure rabies prophylaxis, however, the other half underwent pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis, with only one case completing the scheme and another undergoing the adapted Milwaukee Protocol (Recife Protocol). All cases ended in *** was the first rabies outbreak among indigenous people in Brazil. Among the manifested clinical forms in the series, there was a disease atypical presentation in at least one case. We suggest active surveillance and an intercultural educational campaign to prevent new cases.

Although the observed progress in the cardiovascular disease treatment, the incidence of new and recurrent coronary artery disease remains elevated and constitutes the leading cause of death in the developed countries. Three-quarters of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases could be prevented with adequate changes in lifestyle, including increased daily physical activity. New evidence confirms that there is an inverse dose-response relationship between physical activity and cardiovascular disease and mortality risk. However, participation in moderate to vigorous physical activity may not fully attenuate the independent effect of sedentary activities on increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. Physical activity also plays an important role in secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases by reducing the impact of the disease, slowing its progress and preventing recurrence. Nonetheless, most of eligible cardiovascular patients still do not benefit from secondary prevention/cardiac rehabilitation programs. The present review draws attention to the importance of physical activity in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It also addresses the mechanisms by which physical activity and regular exercise can improve cardiovascular health and reduce the burden of the disease.

We investigated the effect of annealing time on the structure and optical properties of Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ powders prepared by the non-hydrolytic sol-gel method and heat treated at 800 ℃ for 2,4,8 and 16 *** and differential thermal analyses revealed that Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ powders were obtained at about 800 ℃.X-ray diffraction patterns and Rietveld refinement data confirmed that all powders had a scheelite-type tetragonal ***-Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra indicated structural order at short range and anti-symmetric stretching vibrations of O-W-O bonds associated with tetrahedral[WO4]*** properties were investigated by ultraviolet-visible（UV-vis）diffuse reflectance,and photoluminescence（PL）data which provided the evolution of quantum efficiency（η）and lifetime（τ）.UV-vis spectroscopy evidenced intermediate energy levels within the band gap of Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ *** properties validated that the Eu^3＋ electric-dipole（^5D0→^7F2）transition in PL emission spectra was dominant which proved that Eu^3＋ ions were positioned in a site without an inversion center.[（^5D0→^7F2）/（^5D0→^7F1）]band ratios showed that Eu^3＋ ions were located in a low symmetry *** PL emission,ηandτproved the dependence on the annealing time in the behavior of Sr WO4：Eu3＋powders with a higher relative emission PL intensity as well as higherηandτvalues related to other samples when heat treated at 800℃ for 8 h.

Meplazumab,a humanized CD147 antibody,has shown favourable safety and efficacy in our previous clinical *** DEFLECT(NCT04586153),167 patients with severe COVID-19 were enroled and randomized to receive three dosages of meplazumab and a *** at 0.12 mg/kg,compared to the placebo group,showed clinical benefits in significantly reducing mortality by 83.6%(2.4%vs.14.6%,p=0.0150),increasing the proportion of patients alive and discharged without supplemental oxygen(82.9%vs.70.7%,p=0.0337)and increasing the proportion of patients who achieved sustained clinical improvement(41.5%vs.31.7%).The response rate in the 0.2 mg/kg group was relatively increased by 16.0%compared with the placebo group(53.7%vs.46.3%).Meplazumab also reduced the viral loads and multiple cytokine *** with the placebo group,the 0.3 mg/kg significantly increased the virus negative rate by 40.6%(p=0.0363)and reduced IL-8 level(p=0.0460);the 0.2 mg/kg increased the negative conversion rate by 36.9%,and reduced IL-4(p=0.0365)and IL-8 levels(p=0.0484).In this study,the adverse events occurred at a comparable rate across the four groups,with no unexpected safety findings *** conclusion,meplazumab promoted COVID-19 convalescence and reduced mortality,viral load,and cytokine levels in severe COVID-19 population with good safety profile.
