Background Male adolescents and young men benefit when their mental health care is specialized to match their unique gendered and developmental needs. Sensitivity to the social circumstances of this population is important;additionally, the emerging ability to tailor care through knowledge gleaned from the intersection of psychiatry, neurology, and endocrinol-ogy informs care. Data sources This article summarized the views of six experts in the area of the adolescent and young adult male mental health. These experts were select members of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry's Task Force on Men's Mental Health. They convened to present two symposia on the topic of men's mental health at the 13th World Congress of Biological Psychiatry (WCBP) in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2017. Results In these works, a special focus is paid to addictive disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, aggression, and brain development. Collectively, the authors present an argument for the merits of a male-specifi c model of mental health care to advance the overall well-being of this population. Conclusions Men's mental health should be recognized as a social issue as much as a medical issue, with special attention paid to problems such as unemployment, familial disruption, and substance abuse. These problems, and especially those of major societal impact including violence and suicide which are much more frequently the product of male youth and men, should have more male-tailored options for service provision that respond to men's mental health needs.

At low temperatures,when a semiconductor hosts a two-dimensional electron gas(2DEG)and is subjected to a strong magnetic field,the Hall resistance exhibits quantization to integer multiples of h/e2with remarkable precision(h is Planck’s constant and e is the elementary charge).The phenomenon,soon recognized as the quantum Hall effect(QHE),emerged as a groundbreaking discovery in condensed matter physics[1,2],stimulating exploration into new research *** discovery paved the way for the investigation of topological states of matter,leading to unforeseen theoretical insights and practical applications.

Between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity

The origin of elementary particle mass is considered as a function of n-valued graviton quanta. To develop this concept we begin in a cold region of “empty space” comprised of only microscopic gravitons oscillating at angular frequency ω. From opposite directions enters a pair of stray protons. Upon colliding, heat and energy are released. Customarily, this phase and what follows afterward would be described by Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Instead, we argue for an intermediary step. One in which neighboring gravitons absorb discrete amounts of plane-wave energy. Captured by the graviton, the planewave becomes a standing wave, whereupon its electromagnetic energy densities are converted into gravitational quanta. Immediately thereafter an elementary particle is formed and emitted, having both mass and spin. From absorption to conversion to emission occurs in less than 3.7 × 10−16 s. During this basic unit of hybrid time, general relativity and quantum physics unite into a common set of physical laws. As additional stray protons collide the process continues. Over eons, vast regions of spacetime become populated with low-mass particles. These we recognize to be dark matter by its effects on large scale structures in the universe. Its counterpart, dark energy, arises when the conversion of gravitational quanta to particle emission is interrupted. This causes the gravitational quanta to be ejected. It is recognized by its large scale effects on the universe.

The impact of genotyping strategies and statistical models on accuracy of genomic prediction for survival in pigs

Background:Survival from birth to slaughter is an important economic trait in commercial pig *** survival can improve both economic efficiency and animal *** aim of this study is to explore the impact of genotyping strategies and statistical models on the accuracy of genomic prediction for survival in pigs during the total growing period from birth to ***:We simulated pig populations with different direct and maternal heritabilities and used a linear mixed model,a logit model,and a probit model to predict genomic breeding values of pig survival based on data of individual survival records with binary outcomes(0,1).The results show that in the case of only alive animals having genotype data,unbiased genomic predictions can be achieved when using variances estimated from pedigreebased *** using genomic information achieved up to 59.2%higher accuracy of estimated breeding value compared to pedigree-based model,dependent on genotyping *** scenario of genotyping all individuals,both dead and alive individuals,obtained the highest *** an equal number of individuals(80%)were genotyped,random sample of individuals with genotypes achieved higher accuracy than only alive individuals with *** linear model,logit model and probit model achieved similar ***:Our conclusion is that genomic prediction of pig survival is feasible in the situation that only alive pigs have genotypes,but genomic information of dead individuals can increase accuracy of genomic prediction by 2.06%to 6.04%.

目的"Critical Care"(重症照顾)和"Intensive Care Unit"(重症监护室)这两个术语在实际工作中描述一个医疗场所时经常被互换使用。对"Critical Care"的口语化使用使得其准确定义具有挑战性。本文旨在对"Critical Care"进行概念分析,制定其操作性定义(operational definition),明确其内涵。方法采用Walker和Avant八步法来指导本研究。检索数据库(CINAHL、Scopus、PubMed、ProQuest Dissertation Abstracts和Med line in EBSCO)中"Critical Care"相关文献,包括1990--2022年以英文撰写发表的质性和量性研究论文。结果.共检索到439篇论文,其中47篇符合纳人标准。"Critical Care"的概念属性包括:1)对疾病/损伤的不适应;2)收治标准;3)高精医疗技术;4)专业的医疗护理人员。前因是疾病/损伤进展到危急状况,患者身体和心理功能都明显下降,后续影响是死亡或存活(有或没有ICU治疗后综合症)。结论重症监护环境的高技术含量特性使关于“Critical Care"的描述更具挑战性。对此术语进行概念分析有助于明确其内涵和范围,为未来研究提供参考,促进相关评估工具的开发,深入了解重症监护环境中的医疗护理工作本质。

Effects of Thermal Activation on the Electrocatalysis of the Ru(0001) Surface

Variable temperature in situ FTIR spectroscopy has been used as the primary tool to investigate the effects of temperature(10 to 50 ℃) on formaldehyde dissociative adsorption and electro oxidation on the Ru(0001) electrode in perchloric acid solution, and the results were interpreted in terms of the surface chemistry of the Ru(0001) electrode and compared to those obtained during our previous studies on the adsorption of CO under the same conditions. It was found that formaldehyde did undergo dissociative adsorption, even at -200 mV vs . Ag/AgCl, to form linear(CO L) and 3 fold hollow(CO H) binding CO adsorbates. In contrast to the adsorption of CO, it was found that increasing the temperature to 50 ℃ markedly increased the amount of CO adsorbates formed on the Ru(0001) surface from the adsorption of formaldehyde. On increasing the potential, the electro oxidation of the CO adsorbates to CO 2 took place via reaction with the active (1×1) O oxide. A significant increase in the surface reactivity was observed on the RuO 2(100) phase formed at higher potentials. Formic acid was detected as a partial oxidation product during formaldehyde electro oxidation. The data obtained at 50 ℃ are markedly different from those collected at 10 and 25 ℃ in terms of the amount of both CO 2 and formic acid formed and the adsorbed CO L and CO H species observed. These results were rationalized by the thermal effects on both the loosening of the CO adlayer and the activation of surface oxide on increasing the temperature.

Clustering and classification of energy meter data: A comparison analysis of data from individual homes and the aggregated data from multiple homes

The transition towards a more sustainable environment requires the development of new control systems on the demand side to integrate renewable energy sources into the energy *** this purpose,energy meter data of homes have been broadly used in modelling,forecast and optimal control of energy ***,usability and reliability of household energy meter data have not been specifically *** this study,we apply commonly used machine learning methods on the heating consumption data of(1)two individual homes in an apartment building and(2)the district heating substation of the apartment building which includes 72 homes,to identify how the characteristics of data affect the result of data *** clustering approaches were applied using the K-means algorithm to group similar heating daily *** the clustering results,different classification algorithms such as logistic regression and random forest were applied to predict the heating consumption level with regards to the weather *** data analysis process showed that the substation data which is the aggregated heating consumption of the 72 homes is more reliable and valid for energy prediction than the data from two individual *** is due to the large variation and uncertainty in the daily energy use of individual homes.
