Current guidelines encourage large studies in a diverse population to establish normal reference ranges for three-dimensional(3D)echocardiography for different ethnic *** study was designed to establish the normal values of 3D-left ventricular(LV)and left atrial(LA)volume and function in a nationwide,population-based cohort of healthy Han Chinese adults.A total of 1117 healthy volunteers aged 18–89 years were enrolled from 28 collaborating laboratories in *** sets of 3D echocardiographic instruments were used,and full-volume echocardiographic images were recorded and transmitted to a core laboratory for image analysis with a vendor-independent off-line ***,866 volunteers(mean age of 48.4 years,402 men)were qualified for final *** parameters exhibited substantial differences between different sex and age groups,even after indexation by body surface *** normal ranges of 3D-LV and 3D-LA volume and function differed from those recommended by the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging guidelines,presented by the World Alliance Societies of Echocardiography(WASE)study,and from the 2D values in the EMINCA *** normal reference values of 3D echocardiography-derived LV and LA volume and function were established for the first time in healthy Han Chinese *** ranges of 3D-LV and 3D-LA echocardiographic measurements stratified with sex,age,and race should be recommended for clinical applications.

Quantum heat engines and refrigerators are open quantum systems,whose dynamics can be well understood using a non-Hermitian formalism.A prominent feature of non-Hermiticity is the existence of exceptional points(EPs),which has no counterpart in closed quantum *** has been shown in classical systems that dynamical encirclement in the vicinity of an EP,whether the loop includes the EP or not,could lead to chiral mode ***,we show that this is valid also for quantum systems when dynamical encircling is performed in the vicinity of their Liouvillian EPs(LEPs),which include the effects of quantum jumps and associated noise—an important quantum feature not present in previous *** demonstrate,using a Paul-trapped ultracold ion,the first chiral quantum heating and refrigeration by dynamically encircling a closed loop in the vicinity of an *** witness the cycling direction to be associated with the chirality and heat release(absorption)of the quantum heat engine(quantum refrigerator).Our experiments have revealed that not only the adiabaticity breakdown but also the Landau–Zener–Stückelberg process play an essential role during dynamic encircling,resulting in chiral thermodynamic *** observations contribute to further understanding of chiral and topological features in non-Hermitian systems and pave a way to exploring the relation between chirality and quantum thermodynamics.

Cognitive impairment associated with individual and joint exposure to PM_(2.5)constituents in a Chinese national cohort

Nationwide longitudinal evidence linking cognitive decline with exposure to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))constituents remains scarce in *** constructing a dynamic cohort based on the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study,we aimed to assess individual and joint associations of PM_(2.5)constituents with cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults in *** mixed-effects models incorporated with quantile-based g-computation were applied to investigate individual and joint associations of long-term exposures to PM_(2.5)constituents with cognitive *** 13,507 respondents,we evaluated 38,950 follow-up records of cognitive function *** in global cognitive score associated with an interquartile range(IQR)increase in exposure were−1.477(95%CI:−1.722,−1.232)for nitrate,followed by−1.331(−1.529,−1.133)for ammonium,−1.033(−1.184,−0.883)for sulfate,−0.988(−1.144,−0.832)for organic matter and−0.822(−0.946,−0.699)for black *** IQR-equivalent increase in joint exposure to these PM_(2.5)constituents was associated with a decline of−1.353(−1.659,−1.048)in global cognitive ***,younger,and well-educated individuals were at greater vulnerability to cognitive impairment related to individual and joint exposure to PM_(2.5)*** study suggested that later-life exposures to PM_(2.5)constituents were associated with cognitive decline in middle-aged and older adults in China.

The exfoliation of bulk 2H-molybdenum disulfide(2H-MoS_(2))into few-layer nanosheets with 1T-phase and controlled layers represents a daunting challenge towards the device applications of MoS_(2).Conventional ion intercalation assisted exfoliation needs the use of hazardous n-butyllithium and/or elaborate control of the intercalation potential to avoid the decomposition of the MoS_(2).This work reports a facile strategy by intercalating Li ions electrochemically with ether-based electrolyte into the van der Waals(vdW)channels of MoS_(2),which successfully avoids the decomposition of MoS_(2)at low *** co-intercalation of Li+and the ether solvent into MoS_(2)makes a first-order phase transformation,forming a superlattice phase,which preserves the layered structure and hence enables the exfoliation of bulk 2H-MoS_(2)into bilayer nanosheets with *** with the pristine 2H-MoS_(2),the bilayer 1T-MoS_(2)nanosheets exhibit better electrocatalytic performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).This facile method should be easily extended to the exfoliation of various transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs).

In this work, we propose a novel approach that combines a bidirectional deep neural network(BDNN) with a multifunctional metasurface absorber(MMA) for inverse design, which can effectively address the challenge of on-demand customization for absorbers. The inverse design of absorption peak frequencies can be achieved from 0.5 to 10 terahertz(THz), covering the quasi-entire THz band. Based on this, the BDNN is extended to broadband absorption, and the inverse design yields an MMA at the desired frequency. This work provides a broadly applicable approach to the custom design of multifunctional devices that can facilitate the evaluation and design of metasurfaces in electromagnetic absorption.

3D seismic data recently acquired from the Ordos Basin shows three sets of regularly distributed fault systems,which overrides previous understanding that no faults were developed in this *** interpretation suggests that the faults in the southwestern Ordos Basin have three basic characteristics,namely extreme micro-scale,distinct vertical stratification,and regularity of planar *** NS-,NW-,and NE-trending fault systems developed in the Meso-Neoproterozoic e Lower Ordovician *** these,the NS-trending fault system mainly consists of consequent and antithetic faults which show clear syndepositional *** fault systems in the Carboniferous e Middle-Lower Triassic strata are not clear on seismic reflection *** NW-and NE-trending fault systems are developed in the Upper Triassic e Middle Jurassic *** these,the NW-trending fault system appears as a negative flower structure in sectional view and in an en echelon pattern in plan-view;they show transtensional deformation.A NE-trending fault system that developed in the Lower Cretaceous e Cenozoic strata shows a Y-shaped structural style and tension-shear properties.A comprehensive analysis of the regional stress fields at different geologic times is essential to determine the development,distribution direction,and intensity of the activity of fault systems in the Ordos *** exploration suggests three aspects in which the faults within the Ordos Basin are crucial to oil and gas ***,these faults serve as vertical barriers that cause the formation of two sets of relatively independent petroleum systems in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic strata respectively;this is the basis for the‘upper oil and lower gas’distribution ***,the vertical communication of these faults is favorable for oil and gas migration,thus contributing to the typical characteristics of multiple oil and gas fields within the basin,*** and gas reservoirs with multiple
