Ce/BEA has great potential as a passive NO_(x)absorber(PNA)to reduce the NO_(x)emissions during the cold start phase especially in diesel engine for its high resistance to CO and suitable NO_(x)desorption temperature ***,as a novel material,its physical and chemical properties still remain *** this work,Ce/BEA was synthesized by ion-exchange method to identify the active species in NO_(x)adsorption,compared with aggregated Ce species in Ce/SiAlOx prepared by impregnation method.X-ray diffraction(XRD),high resolution-transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM)and aberration-corrected-scanning transmission electron microscopy(AC-STEM)were performed to confirm the isolated single atom formation of Ce species in Ce/***-vis diffraction reflection spectra(DRS)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)were conducted to find the difference of chemical environment between the isolated Ce species and aggregated *** performance evaluation and temperature programmed reduction of hydrogen(H_(2)-TPR)results show the high NO_(x)storage capacity and active oxygen species quantity in Ce/*** is also found that the main NO_(x)adsorption species are Ce4+-O^(∗)rather than Ce^(3+).NO_(x)-diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(NO_(x)-DRIFTS)confirms that the bidentate nitrite species are the critical NO_(x)adsorption intermediates and the conception of NO_(x)adsorption and desorption processes is proposed.

The selective electrochemical conversion of glycerol into value-added products is a green and sustainable strategy for the biomass *** this work,Au nanowires(Au-NW)modified with polyethyleneimine(PEI)molecule(Au-NW@PEI)is obtained by an up-bottom post-modification *** characterization,molecular dynamics simulation and density functional theory demonstrate that the loose-packed PEI monolayer firmly and uniformly distribute on the Au-NW surface due to the strong Au-N *** experiments and product analysis display that PEI modification significantly enhance the electro-activity of Au-NW for the glycerol electro-oxidation reaction(GEOR)due to the electronic ***,the steric hindrance and electrostatic effect of PEI layer make the optimizing adsorption of intermediates ***,the selectivity of C3 product glyceric acid over Au-NW@PEI is increased by nearly 20%.The work thus indicates that the rational design of metal-organic interface can effectively elevate the electro-activity and selectivity of Au nanostructures,which may have wide application in biomass development.

There is a lack of understanding of both the conversion of an unstable glass into a metastable supercooled liquid(MSL) upon heating and the metastability of MSLs. In this study, we investigated the time-and temperature-dependent metastability of an MSL using an advanced nano-calorimetric technique. The chosen Au-based metallic glass(Au MG) allowed adequate probing of its MSL in a temperature range between 10 and 70 K above the standard glass transition temperature. We found that the survival time of the MSL state is a quadratic function of temperature. Beyond this duration threshold, the sample undergoes fast crystallization even if it is below the crystallization temperature that is measured using differential scanning *** transmission electron microscopy, we observed the formation of clusters with a partially ordered lattice structure during relaxation in the Au MG sample fabricated using a nano-calorimeter. The atomic ordering within the clusters was enhanced by increasing time and temperature in the MSL region. Once the as-produced glass entered the MSL stage upon heating followed by a quenching stage at a given rate, the mechanical properties of the quenched glass remained the same regardless of its holding temperature and duration within the MSL region. This work provides insights into the glass-MSL-crystal transformation and offers guidance for designing standard metallic glasses for property characterizations.

Corrodible metals are the newest kind of biodegradable materials and raise a new problem of the corrosion ***,the removal of the precipitated products has been unclear and even largely ignored in ***,we find that albumin,an abundant macromolecule in serum,enhances the solubility of corrosion products of iron in blood mimetic Hank’s solution *** is universal for other main biodegradable metals such as magnesium,zinc and polyester-coated *** also influences corrosion rates in diverse trends in Hank’s solution and normal *** on quantitative study theoretically and experimentally,both the effects on corrosion rates and soluble fractions are interpreted by a unified mechanism,and the key factor leading to different corrosion behaviors in corrosion media is the interference of albumin to the Ca/P passivation layer on the metal *** work has illustrated that the interactions between metals and media macromolecules should be taken into consideration in the design of the next-generation metal-based biodegradable medical devices in the formulism of precision *** improved Hank’s solution in the presence of albumin and with a higher content of initial calcium salt is suggested to access biodegradable metals potentially for cardiovascular medical devices,where the content of calcium salt is calculated after consideration of chelating of calcium ions by albumin,resulting in the physiological concentration of free calcium ions.

Co-combustion of methane(CH4)and acid gas(AG)is required to sustain the temperature in Claus reaction *** this study,oxy-fuel combustion of methane and acid gas has been experimentally studied in a diffusion *** equivalence ratios(ER=1.0,1.5,2.0)and CH_(4)-addition ratios(CH_(4)/AG=0.3,0.5,0.7)were examined and the flame was interpreted by analyzing the distributions of the temperature and species concentration along central ***_(4)-AG diffusion flame could be classified into three sections namely initial reaction,oxidation and complex reaction *** oxidation of CH_(4)and H_(2)S was noted in the first section wherein H_(2)S was preferred and both were mainly proceeding decomposition and partial ***_(2)was formed at oxidation section together with obvious presence of H2 and ***,H2 and CO were inclined to be sustained under fuel rich condition in the complex reaction *** ER and increasing CH4/AG contributed to higher temperature,H_(2)S and CH_(4)oxidation and CO_(2)*** a growing trend for CH_(4)and AG to convert into H_(2),CO and SO_(2)could be *** this factor enhanced the generation of CS2 and COS in the flame inner core by interactions of CH4 and CO_(2)with sulfur *** was formed through the interactions of CO and CO_(2)with sulfur *** CS_(2)production directly relied on reaction of CH_(4)with sulfur *** concentration of COS was greater than CS_(2)since CS_(2)was probably inhibited due to the presence of H_(2).COS and CS_(2)could be consumed by further oxidation or other complex reactions.
